The first time that I heard the mis-matched notes in the song I chuckled to myself thinking that the artist had made a mistake on the keyboard. When I first heard the song the first time I watched the movie, my initial reaction was that what could have been a great song was botched; tainted. I think the off note is fitting with the movie, it's as if the pianist was experiences the emotional distress that is witnessed in all the ending scenes of the film. It's really fitting of the character Tim, the song is beautiful just like the good deeds that he did for those 7 characters, and those clashing notes are like the 7 lives he took. On every relieving note of this song the pianist presses two keys simultaneously to make it sound as if he or she has messed up. Of course the pianist hasn't messed up; Through that one little intentional mess up, it symbolizes the fact that even relief itself can be painful as shown in Seven Pounds.
