The box is his perspective and his learned behavior. He got to a point of self realization and began looking within. He had to begin looking AT the box instead of OUT of it. He realized he was the observer and not the box itself. He found power. He found God. He found Self.

I dont man, but it seems when he uses the term box in my opinion I dont think it's the TV. i dont wanna hurt any non muslim's feeling but one of the muslim leader from prophet Muhammad (PBUH) family predicted this "BOX" and he said that it will be used to spread all types of negativity in the world.
