@aaronbrent84 said [[Im an Iraq war veteran and I can confirm that this war is over oil. I think all the soldiers should go AWOL]]
You're stupid. If it's about oil, then where are the sweetheart deals with Kuwait and Iraq? In the Persian Gulf War, we saved a Muslim nation from a foreign secular tyrannical crime family government. That war never officially ended. A ceasefire agreement was negotiated with the UN, contingent upon weapon inspections, which Saddam violated knowing the consequences.
@aaronbrent84 I can talk about anything I choose to talk about and I am not talking shit. I didn't dodge the war. I used my own situation to make my point, I had legitimate reason to ask for my discharge. which I don't need to repeat that can be done by listening to the video over and over. I served my country faithfully for 11 years.......
What I am saying here is that she could have followed proper protocol and never went..... she chose to ditch it and then play victim by calling up the news stations as if she had been done wrong. Do you not see any of that?
Regardless of what you are saying.....it was wrong...she is not a victim....and she is not been picked on....anybody else that would have done the same thing would have been treated the same......bottom line
single parents shouldnt join up.. its irresponsible. both for the job and the child. if you die ur kids an orphan, if your child commitments could mean you would be unable to perform your duties then you are not fit for the job. some bitch in the uk is suing the army for disciplining her for missing parade to look after her kid. Shes claiming sexual and racial discrimination claims when it has zero bearing on her gender or race.. a white guy woulda been in the same heap of shit.
Yep there is a hardship protocol......that is how I was released, because my fiance and father of my children at the time was already deployed in Bosnia.....and my parents were not able to keep our children due to health reasons......so since I had already served faithfully for so many years and he had already been deployed for over a year, they released me of the duty of having to go to Irag.
Desertion is AWOL but, missing greater than 30 days, in the military. As I read, "The Army requires all single-parent soldiers to submit a care plan for dependent children before they can deploy to a combat zone." This was her primary reason for failing too show up on roll call. @lovie2000, you are dead nuts. She had never been deployed before and she was just bailing out. I hope anyone that deserts the military gets max. punishment.
@ Hammering, what are you talking about, I am dead nuts?
I could have sworn that I said exactly the same thing you just typed......She was deserting her obligation point blank period and she should get the punishment that is given for this offense, bottom line. How could you not get that from what I said in this video.
This woman is exactly correct. The young lady knew what it was. She went AWOL and technically, she deserted - which is punishable by death during wartime. There was a better way to handle that "problem" she was facing. Had she went to her First Sergeant or any NCO , who is a supervisor in her company - they could have spoken on her behalf. They would have followed the correct procedures in regard to this mess. She was being slick .
This is the very reason why WOMEN should not be allowed to be diployed in the first place. She knew she was in the military, she knew she had a dependant child, and she knew what she had to do. This is no different than some hoodrat dodging responsibilty and living off welfare.she designated the mother because the daddy was no good. But for some reason, thats how black women like them.
It's just time for us to pray for our president and for the country, also the things that are happening in this world that we won't even think will happen is happening. The bible says in the last days perilous times will come raging wars, children disobedient to parents, families against each other these are the things that are happening now. Jesus is soon to come that's why we better get ready and stay ready.
No. I didn't get away with anything.....I have been in two branches of the military totaling 11 years of service, 11 yrs of marriage and 3 children, running my own business, taking care of my family, etc and served both of my military obligations...with all of that, never once skipped on my duties or made excuses as to why I couldn't serve those 11 years .There is a big difference. I followed protocol in my issue.....
@SriCassiopeia Charles Jenkings DESERTED and got away with a slap on the wrist. Where did we defect to.................? NORTH KOREA! Bush and Jenkins are tratiors, not this girl.
Afghanistan! That is what I'm talking about. The terrorists in that country, that were trained in that country, that are protected in that country are the ones who attacked on 9/11. The Taliban and Al Quida are terrorists. It's a damn shame you don't agree considering you were in the military. I hope your not one of these people who thinks 9/11 was an "inside job", planned by Bush. Those kind of people also believe that whites invented aids and swine flu to reduce the worlds black population.
No what I am saying is that Bush was wrong, there were so many lies told by him and his party trying to validate the reasoning behind him going to war in Iraq, the focus was suppose to be Afghanistan.
Soldiers were in Afghanistan way before 9/11. but the war they are in is in Iraq..don't you find it strange that Bush started a war back up in Iraq, were his father left off in 1990 (Desert Storm) and they have been there going on 9 yrs now...and for what? Iraqi people didn't attack the WTC's.
Other than a few individuals there were no American troops in Afghanistan before 9/11. And yeah I know he lied along with his party for the reasons, but all politicians do that.
I am glad he invaded Iraq and took out Saddam. No one cares about the 5000 Kurds he gassed. I bet if Iraqi had a minority black African population and he had gassed them instead then all of a sudden you and the rest of America would suddenly be demanding that he invade Iraqi.
I got to say as another military female veteran....this whole issue is just Bull snit.
Yes she screwed up, yes she should face any and all charges for doing such.
But the fact this is "news" and is an "issue" is complete sexist BS...males go UA/Awol All the freaking time and it's not "news" no one is going...."look see men shouldnt be in the military!"
I understand your point, but if I am not mistaken her and her mother took this to the news, thinking it would help them when in all actuality it is only hurting the woman, because she is going to be made an example of.
No one would have never known about this had the mother not tried to publicize and capitalize from it.....because like you said, this is not the first time, someone has tried to skip out on deployment and you never saw it on the news....she went about all of this the wrong way.
wow. true though. i look at it like this. if your going to sign up for a branch knowing you could get sent else place. your looking for action. anyways yeah got to take care of stuff before you decide to go in just in case. i agree with you. my friend only went awall when he was here. loved to go out and explore the world. peace. gregg
Well said, Lovie. I think when people sign up to join a military or army they should be aware of the rules as well as to be sure to follow through with them.
They are Haley and anyone in the military know the law and rules upon joining and signing up....

That type of brainwashing doesn't work on level-headed people who have sense enough 2weigh facts & think 4themselves.
Have u seen/heard her mom? ( I use the term "mom" loosely) This was clearly premeditated.
I'm terrified of what kind of person this child will develop into under guidance of their level of mentality. I pray 4the child's development & exposure 2some mature adult--SOMEwhere.
I saw that, also the video footage of her mom with the child now that she is on lock down....she is keeping her child now, so why couldn't she keep the child while her daughter went away to perform her obligated duty......
I was honorably discharged in 2003 mind you years after the WTC attack but I didn't get deployed during that wait period....she could have done the same...... can't have your cake and eat it too
I didn't know you were in the military...or did I and just forgot? Anyway, my Father is retired Navy 20+ years and I remember during my last 4yrs of school he put in paperwork so that we didn't transfer anymore. So that I could graduate from the high school I was attending. Prior to that I have been to 4 elementary schools, 5 middle schools and 3 high schools due to the transfers. I am glad he put that request in! The military had no problem granting my Father his request. So if she had...
If asked she will probably say she didn't know..I know she knows, every person in the miltary knows this.....
A person enjoying the benefits, but now that it's time to go honor that oath in the field, now you can't because you don't have anyone to leave the child with, ok provide that proof that you don't and file for a hardship. The thing about that is this though, they will put you out of the military when you do, because if you have no one during war, you have no one during regular duties.
My opinion on the topic is this, I really feel for you and your x-husband if being deployed to Bosnia contributed to why you had to separate the bondage you had through marriage.I have brothers in sisters that served in all armed forces in the military so I know what being deployed to another country can do to a relationship. As for the woman you are speaking about that is all over the news I cant judge I am not in her shoes but whenever their are kids involved I feel for that particular fam.
I feel for the child, but not her....she knew what she was signing up for.........
And to let her off is wrong, when so many others, have not been let off, have died and left unborn and born children behind..and the many with a child and children are there right now. I was there and fulfilled my duty and when I couldn't I followed the correct procedure to handle that situation.
There are many single mothers over there and fathers, she should face the same as any other soldier has and will.
According to a news broadcast I saw posted on YouTube. Channel 7 somewhere, 30,000 single mothers have been deployed to war zones since 9-11. This I believe is wrong. Call me old fashioned I guess. However, 30,000 single mothers did what was asked of them. You are correct, that her getting off would not be fair to the 30,000 who no doubt faced similar problems yet did their duty.
What would be worse is sending someone on their thrid or fourth deployment *instead* of someone because of their particular status.
