No, there shouldn't be any cameras in the court b/c the news media will end up just taking snippets of the trial and leave out IMPORTANT details of the ruling. For example, in Lawrence vs Texas, the news media can show Anthony Kennedy saying that gays can have sex if they want to but won't cover him saying that it doesn't automatically lead to marriage. Also, we don't want justices to rule b/c they want to 'look good' but to have SUBSTANCE.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judges are excpting bribes. California judges are employee's of the State not the County. The County is currently giving them $57,688.00 per yr per judge in addition to the pay and benefits they receive from the State. After being exposed for the bribes (Sturgeon v Los Angeles County) the judges paid a lobbyist to pass SBX211 granting the retro active imunity from prosecution. SBX211 does not address the loss of due proccess.
Cspan is not a national entertainment network, Kennedys first point is better than his teaching point because all theyre really doing is leaving the young ppl that might want to learn about the law blind to how it actually operates. The oral argument is the only part of what they do that they actually do in public What silly things dont want shown on camera?
You need to learn about the Court System before you support placing Cameras inside the Courtrooms. The Courts are already open to the public. Placing it on TV will harm the system. Not everyone wants to go to Court, people like their privacy, not everyone wants to be on TV. Criminal proceedings are not games, real lives are affected. Keeping cameras out is a good thing, the Court system works better then any other branch of our government.
Thank you for posting this, CSPAN.
