  • That was Excellent.

  • ZOMG! DM played live!

  • buena!

  • SOOOOOO cool!!!

  • I to make the samples from you video=)))

  • Awesome DUDE !!!!

  • 9 people are DEAF!

  • did you cut the samples from the song?

  • Well done, sir. Perfect sampling there, could you be so kind to share with us your sampled version? if you don't mind, of course. I can understand all the world behind this.

  • still love to listen to this:)

  • Love it!

  • pepecheeeeee como mola!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Co0o0o0o0o0oL!!! :D

  • Great stuff! This inspired me!!!

  • Espectacular man!!!!

  • could i get the samples pls?

  • Wow...excellent...really would like to try them. Could u plz plz plz send them. Well played too btw...

  • awesome :)

  • nice

  • what's the name of the drums? sky drums? latino drums?

  • Dope!

  • Originally, the samples were created by Einstürzende Neubauten and Gareth Jones for Fad Gadget @ Hansa Studio Berlin, 1984.

People Are People is a bunch of Neubauten samples, nothing more.

  • Would you be so kind to send me these samples too?

  • wow I'm impressed but it's such a pity not every keyboard has the same voices like mine, but anyway that was perfect!!! :)

  • Can these drums also be found on a yamaha PSR-540 Keyboard?

  • can you send me those samples too?

  • great stuff. can I have the samples too. I would love to play this also.

    thanks in advance

  • That was really good!

  • Very cool :)

  • very very very nice! what's the name of your keyboard?

  • i'd appreciate the samples too. understand if you don't want to, though.

  • That's pretty cool.

  • Haha that awesome. Bravo.

  • Love it!

  • this is fantastic

  • Damn thing won't play!!!!

  • woow

    you do it great!!!

  • Cool ;)

  • Please, forgive me for this. I'm a musician.

I am trying desperately to learn about synthesizers but everyone explains things to me in talk that is too complex for me to understand.

I want to be able to do exactly this. Sampling, and making sounds on a synthesizer.

I am thinking of getting a Roland synth. Will any synth do? What is midi? What gear exactly do I need and how do I 'sample' off an original track? Please if you could advice me I would be grateful for the rest of my career.

  • Your question is really difficult to answer briefly.

I advice you to read and watch tutorials.

Look for tutorial here in youtube.

keywords: what is MIDI, howto sample, sampling, ...

  • Okay. But really I'd just love to know what gear I need, to start off. I have no idea if I need a computer to do this, or if it's done with other machines. I've tried watching alot of tutorials before but no-one explains it in regular talk, it's alot of jargon which isn't too easy to understand.

  • u sent you a private message, my post got to long to post here

  • @MrsRhythmNation research Digital Audio Workstation )

VSTi Virtual Studio Technology instrument known as

virtual synths. there are virtual effects & samplers...

at a fraction of the cost of their hardware syns.

A good beginner sequencer is FL Studio, the

bottom of the line version for under $100.00. Get a USB Midi Controller

Keyboard M-Audio 49e is abut $100.00, go to KVR Audio online

there are a TON of FREE virtual synthesizers

  • @MrsRhythmNation Hi, well i advice you to work with software samplers/synths only! Buy a cheap controller keyboard (keyboard without any sound but with lots of controller knobs). Use "Native instruments Kontakt sampler" in a sequencer program that you like or just stand alone. Its MUCH cheaper then buying a expensive synthesizer and its much easier to use!

  • @MrsRhythmNation If you are going to buy a new synth buy roland juno Di. I have one and i am very happy with it.

  • great

  • es un sintetizador o un teclado normal?

  • un teclado normal. Un teclado MIDI Maestro.

  • if there's anybody ? who needs the samples from this song.............just let me know ,i will share them with u guys.

si necesitan los sonidos de esta cancion

digamenlo, con gusto los comparto con ustedes.

  • Hey mate, I would really love to get the samples if you can send them.

    thanks

  • see your PM

  • Would you send them here too ?

    Thanks mate !

    :))

  • @pepeche

Could you forward them, please? Would be awesome!!

  • @JOSHELIN Could you give me the samples please... i've been trying for ages to extract them from the song, but i can't quite get it right

    Thanks

  • Wow! Awesome stuff.

  • wow

  • awesome!!

  • Somewhere i have read that they used some forks and knives for that sounds....they sampled into the emulator...

  • Possibly mate, i seen a clip with Chris Lowe from Pet shop boys and he had 6 or 7 marbles in a jar, shook the jar at the mic on the Emulator and it copies the sound onto hard drive and is stored on the memory banks. one touch of a key and the sound is recreated. Amazing !

¿ No ?

  • great stuff man, now maybe you could share that instrument? ;) tell me if you will please

  • HOW DID YOU DO THIS??

  • It's easy.

I take the sounds from the song.

Put them in a sampler device of Reason. Then I play the sampler with a MIDI keyboard.

  • Ah but i Reason it's a program that i have to download from internet?

    And thanks man. =)

  • Well it's absolutely /amazing/! Good work. :]

  • Well done this is a good show of how sampling can create a good representation of the sounds used by depeche Mode. Originally these sounds are from the libary that can be found on the EMU Emulator II.

  • are you sure? in one of the DM biographies I have, the author claims that those sounds were created by hitting metal parts and then processing them through synth filters and similar electronic devices.

  • i like that... it is good to see someone PLAY something today. even if it is sample sounds.

  • alan wilder uses samples.

  • Andy Fletcher sucks. You rule. Join DM.

  • no he doesnt :/ he helps calm the fights down in depeche mode

  • I think like you.

Fletcher won't play two-hands, but he's very important in the band.

  • how the fuck did you DO THAT????!!! WTF

how did you get the original sounds???

  • That's called sampling ;)

  • The beginning of the song has all of them.

Adding a little reverb at the ends makes them sound like the original samples, like in this video.

  • Gr8 clip

  • Great !

  • Ah..you,ve got that classic Mode sound -

    so right my friend..

Hey..you should be in the band,,,!!

Thanks for all your amazing videos...

Keep the good work up mate...!!

  • Spot on !!

  • Fucking Bravo! Nice work!! Loved the Intro too, 5 stars from me:)

  • Thanks.

  • wow!

  • yeee

  • Awesome! !!! I've watched the entire clip with my eyes opened

  • muy bueno... saludos desde argentina

  • great job man

  • OMG!!! That was awesome!! 5/5 stars.

  • AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

    5/5 Stars

  • Awesome!

  • great sence of rhythm man!

  • Bieeeen!!!

  • I could never get tired of watching this!! Thanks, pepeche, for uploading this! Very nice piece of work!

  • Exelenteee!!!

  • in the word of the late great chris farley, "Holy Shnikeys"

  • I love it!

Check out Synthesizer Tribute to Depeche Mode!

  • love it...please explain how to sample like that!

  • he probably just loaded the actual song into a DAW, chopped up the opening measures into the different drum sounds, then allocated them to the MIDI controller. simple.

  • Love It

  • How!!!

  • THAT WAS CRAZY SICK!

Sampled from the original song..."

  • damn that was great!

  • great!

  • congrats!

  • GOOD!

  • fantastic job!

  • those were just a samples but we still remember them as a complete song..

  • fukin sik!

  • awesome

  • That was nice! ;)

  • Cool!

  • holy shit man!!!!

  • Nice work! This is pretty much how Depeche ran it live, except they used an Emu Emulator 2 sampling keyboard for the samples.

  • fantastic!! once again !! sound exactly like original

  • Of course it sounds like the original, it's the original drum part sliced. :) Nice video, though.

  • Yes. Many youtubers don't read the description of the video.

Maybe they don't know the meaning of "sampled".

By now, I'm unable to "emulate" that hit sounds.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • lol awesome!

  • that'S awesome !

  • excellent work!

  • very good pal!!

  • Excellent

  • Very good...

  • que pasada pepeche!

    un abrazo

  • If my question has already been answered, please forgive me. But are you using the MIDI controller to drive a Yamaha TG-33 vector synth? I had the TG-33 for awhile, and the sounds in this kit sound very similar.

  • Hi, Melodicnoize.

I explain that at description of the video.

Sounds I'm using here are directly sampled from the original song. At the beginnig of People are People you can get clean sounds.

My MIDI controller is plugged to a laptop running Reason 3.0 software.

  • AWSOME!

  • Good!!!!! Wasn't it hard though???

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!

  • HA! Awesome!!!

  • holyyy crap! that was awesome! :D

  • this is fantastic!

  • That was awesome, guy.

  • That's tight.

  • All I have to say is...I love you. x3

  • ooo fuck!

    funfuckintastic! :D

  • Whoa!!! Awesome work, man!

  • thats awesome

  • Oh ok I have that I`ll have to give it a try.

  • Dude how did you sample those. Its awsome.

  • I get them from the original song.

At the begining you can get clean sounds.

Then I put them in the redrum device of Reason 3.0.

  • interesting

  • yo u got the same midi keyboard i got bro

  • :) Cheap keyboard, but for me,a good solution.

(and it's the one Depeche used in Touring The Angel, but I'm sure you knew that)

  • Damn!

    That's perfectly amazing.

  • Word!!!

  • you know what he did the best he could so fuck you. I still think its great

  • go get butt fuck by a big 250 big buff penitary rock uped black dude

  • cool, love it. its awesome

  • After listening to some completely crap and painful DM attempts it was refreshing to watch something interesting for a change. Well done Mate. Did you sample straight from recording or make sounds yourself?

  • O.O Thats so amazing.
