You never get the real value of gold unless you're an institution trading on the market. You can't get change from it and so can;t be used for small purchases. You need scales to know how much a piece is worth. So all in all gold is a pain in the ass. And anyway...if we start trading with gold what next? chickens and donkeys? Oh please...
