@multibulss6666 I was playing on a MIDI keyboard (digital piano) that was connected to my Macbook Pro via MIDI cables. I ran it through a program called Logic Pro 9 where I used a piano sample library called 'Ivory Piano' by Synthogy. This way, I could avoid any external noises and let you enjoy the greatness of the piano :)

@mistuhbk I bought it in Australia, and it was around $600AU, which is probably equivalent to that of approx. $450 US? I would recommend you with Sibelius 6 (or 7) if you're a first time user :) Slightly cheaper and identical to Finale's features, if not better.

Tomokioh is right about Sibelius and Finale. As a new user you'd better prefer Sibelius as it's been ahead in terms of functionality for a time and most importantly it's WAY more user friendly. I believe Finale still has many users due to mass effect (it got popular much earlier), but if you have no friend to help with it - you're dead."Intuitive" actions such as double click-and-drag to draw a slur or hacks to add new instruments to a score just killed me. Sib is slow, but very good.

@multibulss6666 Finale is a notation software. Basically, it's like writing music on a piece of paper, but you're doing that on your computer. Of course, the features on the software, like actually hearing the sound you input, being able to play back what you've written and copying and pasting, to list a few, are invaluable to me. There is another software called Sibelius which is like the Mac to a Windows in the sense of OS. They both do very similar things, but with subtle differences.
