@WithoutTomEvans Very good advice, Tom. Music is alive, and there are so many different ways to interpret a piece. I've heard Bach Bouree played by masters; some of their interpretations I do not care for, and some I love. Each guitarist brings his or her own interpretation, feeling and style to a piece. There's nothing wrong with that at all. Parkening, Fisk, Segovia, de Lucia, Tennant, Russell, to name a few. I'd pay big bucks to see ANY of them because they are all great.
For years Christopher Parkenings transcription and virtuosity is the STANDARD and i also have listened to the harpsichord recordings, Mr. David Russell is slower in tempo and with more feeling - i still prefer the Christopher Parkening recording.

(( By they way, many many years ago I listened this harpsichord masterpiece by François Couperin for the first time at Radio UNAM —UNAM stands for Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. I LOVE Les baricades mistérieuses. And Of Course I LOVE Classical Guitar, too. ))
perfection ! although I am surprised by the relatively slow tempo .. always the hesitation for players .. languid and rather slow or hypnotic and rather fast .. I think i will try hypnotic and slow .. haha 5 * + from me anyway for the maestro !!
I think you would mean "Les Barricades Mystérieuses" from "Livre II des pièces de clavecin, sixième ordre" by François Couperin le Grand (1668-1733) Harpsichordist of the Sun King Louis XIV
@stvlndn No offense - it took a Youtube video to make you understand why you have most of his recordings...? Just sounds odd to me, but he is incredible nonetheless.
Une version personnalisée, à voix multiples.

@AddictedToAndrea I do believe you have a serious personality disorder, but that's your problem, not mine. And happy holidays to you, too.

I strongly suggest to whoever enjoyed this, to listen to Oscar Ghiglia's version (it's on YT), it's different but also very interesting!

I agree...Parkening and the way he uses pizzicato is the best I have heard. I wish some body would post a vidoe of him playing it.

Their playing styles are completing different, so don't compare them.
By the way, the opinions aren't supposed to be true or false, so take care about what you say.

this is by far the best version of this tune i have ever heard on guitar! will never forget parkening's which was messy and almost inaudible.

I was a Humanities student at Chico State and this song always haunted me.
