Robin had to die one or another way. This is just BBC's way to show it. I think that the show got a little ruined by Marian's death, so if Marian lived on in season 3 and then died with Robin the show would have been better if you ask me.
I hate it when MAIN CHARACTERS die...it ruins it...but i guess it was the best way to die knowing that what you fought for had finally happened..i still think my eyes will fall out from crying.
It made me so sad that they'd kill robin off like that, but think about this. He dies knowing that the sheriff and Isabella's evil gone, he made peace with his enemy, his gang would carry out his name forever, and he would finally be reunited with his true love.
The first legend of Robin hood started to be told by songs and ballads so if u know a bit a history this series really messed up..when they killed Marian they killed the show! in a 16th century there is this tale that focous on Marian's life and she died old...i searched for Robin's death and he also died from old age and there is the legend of the arrow and the body! I really loved season 1 and 2, but killing Marian this was the only ending possible at least they are together!
@kimyanc Robin Hood in it's very essence is what each person makes of him. There is no one "true" story to him. He is but a fictional character and as thus, he can be what each persons imagionation is open too. In my opinion, no matter what story his life is told, Robin Hood is simple. He is hope. Simple as that.

Now before he died he did loose an arrow and was supposedly buried were it landed by Little John.Marian is not mentioned once in this ballad and I don't believe she is mentioned in any of the earlier ones.

But Robin's heart always belonged to Marian. She was the girl if he'd lived. Archer, his half brother actually was going to step up and take Robin's place, that was the rough idea for the 4th season. Im saddened by the end of the show, but happy with the ending. Long live the Legend, Robin Hood.

Guy of Gisbourne's life story had it all; pain, suffering, betrayal, evil, then half-good, then a good man fighting depression and fighting to stay independant. Things he did like even turning on the Sherrif and Prince John made him an absolute hero. Season 3, without doubt was the season of the Guy Of Gisbourne.

I'm so glad they brough Marion back for the ending. I didn't watch series three when the whole Robin and Kate thing started; I was really annoyed at how Marian was so easily replaced.
Even though the series is over I do appreciate that they got Robin and Marian together in the final end to the show! It just leaves us to our imagination to wonder about what will happen to the rest of the gang, and what haven will be like with Robin Hood in it now.

They didn't die if that's what your thinking. I think after Marian died, they stayed in the holy land together and got married (?) but it was a happy ending for them. It really was a shame the characters couldn't have stayed for the third series, but i guess we got Kate (groan) and Friar Tuck (Yay!) to replace them :)

@redredru Guy's sister had a dagger which had poison on it (guy gave her to poison to kill herself with so she didn't hang for treason) and she cut him on the neck with it so he got poisoned and guy also got stabbed with the dagger seconds after Robin was cut. Guy had switched sides so he was helping Robin when he died.
@redredru Guy's sister Isabella came in in series 3 and was sort of the replacement Marian until she went baddd, and she ended up killing him by brushing his neck with a sword that had some sort of poison on - that's why he has a mark on his neck
@Sabrinajaine Isabella wasn't the replacement for Marian, Kate was. The blonde girl that fell in love with Robin. I felt bad for her because when she and Robin were saying goodbye she looked like she wanted it to be special and memorable, but he only said a couple of friendly words because he knew he'd be united with Marian. Isabella was only in a couple of episodes.

I'm so glad they brough Marion back for the ending. I didn't watch series three when the whole Robin and Kate thing started; I was really annoyed at how Marian was so easily replaced.

Even though the series is over I do appreciate that they got Robin and Marian together in the final end to the show! It just leaves us to our imagination to wonder about what will happen to the rest of the gang, and what haven will be like with Robin Hood in it now.

They didn't die if that's what your thinking. I think after Marian died, they stayed in the holy land together and got married (?) but it was a happy ending for them. It really was a shame the characters couldn't have stayed for the third series, but i guess we got Kate (groan) and Friar Tuck (Yay!) to replace them :)

can't decide which one of the two deaths made me cry more...been watching the scene like 10 times now and i can't stop crying...
actually i had stopped watching the show after S2 finale and i had got quite angry about a S3 without Marian...but when i suddenly found this video and saw they've brought her back all that bitterness just flew away...even if it was only for the last scene, they totally won me back...
still not watching S3 though...

Um.... I'm sorry, but Robin's death was just pitiful. I went into this thinking of a nice epic death. I could even write you a scene of how it should have happened. But this? This is just bad. Marian'a death was so much better! That one actually made me cry.

@redredru no she was only in this last episode and she was playing her spirit..... but robin is killed by a poisoned dagger that isabella (gisbons sister) cut him with on the neck... thats the cut that you see in the vid. yeah i cried in both the 3rd season and the 2nd season finales.

@redredru Guy's sister had a dagger which had poison on it (guy gave her to poison to kill herself with so she didn't hang for treason) and she cut him on the neck with it so he got poisoned and guy also got stabbed with the dagger seconds after Robin was cut. Guy had switched sides so he was helping Robin when he died.

@redredru Guy's sister Isabella came in in series 3 and was sort of the replacement Marian until she went baddd, and she ended up killing him by brushing his neck with a sword that had some sort of poison on - that's why he has a mark on his neck

@Sabrinajaine Isabella wasn't the replacement for Marian, Kate was. The blonde girl that fell in love with Robin. I felt bad for her because when she and Robin were saying goodbye she looked like she wanted it to be special and memorable, but he only said a couple of friendly words because he knew he'd be united with Marian. Isabella was only in a couple of episodes.

I didn't even watch the other episodes once they killed Marian. There was no point! It was the writers. Lucy was signed up for season 3. Jonas probably could have been convinced to stay if the story hadn't turned to crap.
Any ever read a good book about Robin Hood? I haven't yet. I'll just write it myself I guess
