We really need to do something about problem gambling in this country, I don't know about card pre-commitment simply because of the infrastructure needed to start it and the maintainance costs. I don't think that all the clubs are these evil entitys preying on the vunerable either. I'd suggest that the problem has been so unrestricted for so long that the industry has become too large because of it.

Excellent idea about the card having a daily limit. And I love the mention of the other more important uses for the money people will save. If you were to apply some economic emphasis to this point, you would be able to point out that this increased spending will help bolster and strengthen the local economies which will create more local jobs and improve the general quality of life for all.

I agree. The clubs are keen to fleece people. This seems particularly predatory in the case of RSLs, where most of the gamblers are pensioners.
