i'm not sure but i do believe rock did inspire some of the riffs in hip hop and or rap. i was 21 in 1980 and can even remember blondie doin a rap song on some video. i thought it was pretty cheesey but it never was my cup of tea. living in long beach ca. in the 80s at the time i was no stranger to the rap movement. look i didn't even like disco when i was teenager. that being said at my age now 49 i cant see how GMF influenced rock n roll. it's not rock its rap-hiphop. my opinion of course

@mikwoo48 I agree that Grandmaster Flash is not R&R noone went to the R&R Hall of Fame and asked them to allow GMF & F5 in I think you should lodge your complaint with them since it was them that saw fit to induct them. So why come on this page tellin us HH fans we definitely owe you one(wtf) and when theres a HH HOF put Pink Floyd in, as if we begged them to let hiphop in. If you think they sold out let them know we are very honored and flattered but we didnt ask them to induct these cats in.

@dog1clear You make a good point,also I thought I was gonna have to use a few choice words(par for youtube)these type of discussions usually lead to that mainly bcuz people are small minded, I guess something of this magnitude and the way hiphop has been raped with all the pioneers not receiving their due from hiphop or the todays cats was too big an opportunity to turn down. I like the fact that they recognized HH and the impact GMF &F5 had on it and wanted to honor them. I hear you tho. PEACE
