  • the most unjustly under-appreaciated director of all time, he really is the man. up there with Scorsese and Cassavetes.

  • "It's not a matter of motivation, it's a matter of, uh, you gotta keep up with the ship or you're gonna drown."

  • I loved him on Barney Miller.

  • How many times does he say " you know " ?

  • @hialeahkid You know, I couldn't say.

  • Abel is the fucking man!!!!

  • Abel Ferrera will never bow down to hollywood. He is strait brooklyn.

  • I met mister ferrara at a festival few weeks ago. He didn't talk much about this, just said he wasn't mad at herzog about this movie but mad that people who never give him any money steal his title to make money he'll never see. He also added he will never watch this fucking movie. We had the chance to see his last 3 movies, documentaries, the last one, mulberry street is a master piece. Let's hope they'll find the way to our screen.

  • I met Abel last night, fun party guy

  • is abel a rich guy? i liked him in driller killer.

  • Makes me sick that Herzog was like "I've never even heard of Ferrara or his little movies, I didn't remake anything" Let's see...both films are called Bad Lieutenant and both are about a junky cop....hmmm..Herzog is so overrated.

  • @TheForgottenFlesh

Nah, I don't think Herzog is overrated. I love a lot of his films. But it's is sad that this has happened. No doubt Abel was probably a fan of Herzog's movies and it must be really hurtful for him. I hope those two guys sort it out eventually over a bottle of whiskey or something.

  • @TheForgottenFlesh . . . and even if he didn't know about it the writers definitely did. Also, both have a plot device involving game betting and they both count on one player. Hmmm . . . you're right. Herzog is definitely overrated.

  • @NeverAloneForever What Herzog should have done was when he heard about this. Watched Ferrara's Bad Lieutenant and then commented on it. I'm sure he would have liked it and then he should have Produced Abel's next film as an appology or something.

  • @TheForgottenFlesh Yep. Instead, he just said let's "how about we sit down and have a drink". Maybe, he should have asked anyone if they based it off of another film . . . of the same name. I heard it was the producers that gave the "not remake" the name.

    . . . or maybe the movie just shouldn't have been made. I dunno . . .

  • Sucks how Hollywood never really gave him his due...one of the greatest indy filmmakers ever!!!!

  • i know him very very well and forget his problem he is a great guy !

  • yo know... i mean... you know... i mean... FERRARA RULES

  • Are you joking? He's one of the best directors out there. Just because you've seen one of his movies doesn't mean he hasn't made other great ones. Get that out of here.

  • well hes got one good movie

  • You're a dumbass.

  • He smokes crack and shoots heroin in real life, its classic.

  • genius.

  • He's an alcoholic.

  • Hot mess.

  • I loved king of New York and Bad Lieutenant. GRIMEY.

  • Thanks for the post!

  • Wow, he sounds more articulate than he usually is....which is not saying much. Don't get me wrong, he's a talented filmmaker. I just find it amusing that he sounds like a crackhead in interviews.

  • He is a crackhead.

  • C'mon guys, don't make fun of a hunchback. Or is that humpback?

  • That last comment was pathetic. Go and watch your shitty entertaining movies if you like but leave commentary about real artists and real filmmaking to the rest of us. Piss off!

  • the lowbudget scorcese, ya know

  • He's in his 50's, another classic Abel interview, thanks

  • Hahahaha, Abel Ferrara is getting really old. But I think he is great
