  • not sure how to get the frequency to undulate on its own :(

    help please

  • how do you EQ the lows and mids to clean the sweep? anyone?

  • Awesome vid.. I needed this for a remix i am trying to do and it was quick and helpful kudos sir!!!!!

  • @Hurtigman you can get Live to do it for you without having to move the mouse or touch a key. For any clip, audio or midi, just double click on it and bring up the envelopes section (it's the E just below the Clip window), and set your automation that way. You can also automate effects, synths etc. by going into the arrangement view and under the track title bar there will be a box that allows you to select the parameter you want to automate. Blue line and double click is your friend (:

  • I couldnt figure out how to group my audio effects and im on a mac :(

  • Good video man!

  • Hi, I followed carefully the advice, But when I tried to map the frequency, it didn't go into the Box on the left as it does on your video... I also found it didn't creat the same sort of sweep... Do I need a midi contoler for this? Thanks

  • Yo thank you so much for this video it has really helped me advance in my production :)

  • YES!!! I've always needed to know how to make a FLITER SWEEP!!!

I'm only kiddin - Nice tutorial

  • do you need a midi controller?

  • @elixer6x6x6 No man, you can use automation to do it all!

  • @djfitzz automation? is that like using your mouse to do it? or can you do it in another more smooth way? :P

  • hmm bandpass12 with the analog doesnt work on my computer, but when i leave it on lowpass its perfect. thanks!

  • myje598: you could automate the filter's cutoff position. Or you could use the lfo to modulate the cutoff. Or tweak it by hand with the mouse ;)

  • how do you get the sweep if its not midi mapped? i just get a long continued white noise sound no sweep

  • Hey mate, thanks for tutorial, very handy. One small problem.... when i try to sidechain the sidechain button wont highlight yellow ie it isnt switching on. im stumped as to why this wont work as i sidechain basslines etc regularly with no problem.... any ideas. Im just trying to sidechain the kick on my drum track as you did in your video

hope you can help, thanks again mate

  • @djjonig That sounds very strange... If you own your copy of ableton contact them and they should fix it, otherwise maybe try rebuilding the noise sweep or try using a different synth with the compressor... its the same idea with any synth really.... Let me know how ya get on!

  • @djjonig When you put your compressor into the track, make sure your not using a preset compressor, use the original, that worked for me. Hope that helps.

  • thanks very much for this, very nicely done. are any of the other weeks of the course available?

  • which application are u using to record this tutorial?

    thanx

  • @gstyle11 I used an application called screenflow.... its handy to use.....

  • Cheers for this! I got Ableton today and had no idea how to use it, great videos :)

  • what if you don't have the analog device? is there anything else you can do for a filter sweep?

  • does it make a difference whether you have a MIDI keyboard or not?

  • @xawwrestling No it makes no difference at all.....

  • yer when you click on MIDI map then click frequency, nothing comes up on MIDI map any ideas please help man. thanks

  • @xawwrestling Eh I dunno really.... is it a real copy of Ableton?? If it is get in touch with them... if not get a new version of it!!!

  • @djfitzz Nah its ableton live 7 and didnt know you could get "real" copies of ableton so i dunno whats goin on

  • EXC! thank you so much!

  • WORST FUCKING PROGRAM EVER

  • Great, tnxs! :)

  • hey im a bit stuck, im new to ableton. tried following this tutorial but it doesnt play anything. what is playing in column 1?

  • @killevilpeople Channel 1 is a drum channel, the compressor on channel 2 is side chained to the kick drum. I don't know why your not receiving audio, maybe try to watch it on a different computer.

  • Hi,
