  • Sorry, I am a troll, but I came across this video and I have to say it is very informative. I am slowly getting comfortable with hunting (rifle+bow). I can clean meat, but I have a hard time cleaning anything while the head/hooves are still attached (strange eh?) But your video makes it look "clean" and I like that. It's odd that I'm not more comfortable having grown up on a farm with all kinds of animals that we would eat. But I know one day, we will have to rely on our primitive instinct again

  • "Now your intestines are starting to come out" love that part haha.

  • Never Without hunting knife

  • I am unable to find this dvd on your website, could you provide a link to , thank you

  • @bonesword98 here is the link. Thanks for watching.

  • Can't wait till I go deer hunting

  • Wow when Im old enough I wanna take up hunting. Fresh meat. omg and for free

  • @zakharaya or the cost of the ammo...or bow/arrows!

  • @zakharaya its not "free" you have to tag it, process it, and all the junk. but its worth it

  • i like how he has gloves on, yet he reaches his whole arm in lol.

  • I'm soon to kill my first deer and your vids given me and idea of what I'll be doin, thanks!

  • That doe had a big belly !!! Excellent video best I've seen!

  • Excellent video!

  • This is by far the best video on field dressing a deer there is on yt. Thank you from Montana.

  • coyotes eat good tonight!

  • I heard about this video in the TN Hunter Education class today. After watching this and other videos on the subject of "Field Dressing", I have to agree with my new friend that, this is indeed the best video I have seen on this subject. I will be going directly to kyafield.com from here and purchase your "From the Field to the Freezer" video. At $13 bucks (pun intended), I think it will be a good investment. Great job to kyafield.com for making this available! - Bill in TN

  • haha i think i have that knife , S&W Bullseye ?

  • good vid man

  • best field dressing video ever seen on youtube thanks this was very helpful

  • What a fantastic video, , ,

Thanks, will put this to use on Roe

  • I recommend this video to every new hunter i meet.

  • u arree the beeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssstttttttttt

  • Excellent Video great method!

  • great video i might save the deer heart this year and try it i dont know yet but anyway thanks 5/5 and favorited

  • deer heart is very good. so is the liver.

  • great video gives great detail on evrything

  • Great video, very good info

  • Excellent video.

However, I suggest cutting the breastbone and opening up the chest a few times before reaching up like he did. (You can use a short stick to hold the ribs open.)

His method is fine, but it will help you if you are familiar with what's up there before you go reaching blindly.

  • How long do you hang the deer ?

  • make sure to save the liver and the heart - they are very good to eat!

  • I'm not a hunter but for some reason got to wondering about this kind of thing. Very interesting. Good video thanks.

  • very helpful...

  • awesome video ty, great help for me in the future

  • wear i live i have to be 12 and i got a 6 pointer and this methid is great

  • great video i shot my first deer on opening day and im 11 my dad ran me through the feilddreesing

  • I have this on DVD: Excellent step by step for field dressing and processing the deer: virtually no waste. This is a wholesome resource for all deer hunters and venison cooks.

  • Good video. I find it easier to cut through the breast bone so u don't have to stick ur whole arm in the chest cavity.

  • Can't wait to order cd and try on my own!

  • Thanks KY Afield, took my first deer this year a nice 6 pt'er. Field dressed the deer in about 10 min. The process worked like a charm. Great video, thanks for the tip on a smaller knife, and for helping me learn to do it right while showing respect for the results of a hunt. Deer steaks this winter.

  • I just wanna say to everyone. I went to there website and bought this video . Best video Ive ever seen on how to field dress , skinning and deboning and also meat processing. This is a must buy for anyone wanting to learn to do this .

  • Great video! Thank You!

  • we always do that when we shoot an animal, tha same dressing to all the animals ! except foxes !

  • thanks for the info i had no idea how to field dress a deer

  • Great video. Great introduction into what to expect.

  • VERY helpfull. a far better video than most field dressing videos. You explained everything you were doing, it's recorded well, and you even gave tips to make the process easyer. 5 stars

  • wow, that was a very clean field dress

  • hey im 14 and im about to go deer hungint for the first time is the vid reliable? like is it somthing that i could use becuase me and my dad have no idea what im doing lol. i am a big upland and waterfoul hunter so i can hunt but i have no idea how to clean a deer

  • this is actually one of the best video on youtube about thia

  • yeah this is the way i did it and everything worked out perfect

  • Well done!very informative and professional............now if i could just get one...lmao

  • very nice.

  • great video guys. no gimmicky tools just a little old knife.

  • Tim what kind of knife was he using?

    Thanks.

  • a sharp one =)

  • It really dosent matter, as long as its sharp

  • Great video. This has got to be the best field dressing video I have ever seen on youtube. Love your videos and this one is great as well.

  • Yep, I agree perfect video

  • Wow perfect great video!

  • Very good video this is the only vid i could find that showed every step thanks

  • Thanks a lot, best quality vid on field dressing I found so far.

  • absolutely amazing video. Thanks a billion for posting this!!!

  • I used this method on my first doe (not first deer) this year...cutting the diaphram worked out like a charm. Great vid...cool idea about freezing the gutpile Longacre83. Happy hunting all! Had whitetail roast last night for dinner!

  • awsome video best on the tube that I have watched!

  • thats just awesome

  • so easy a caveman can do it, awesome vid

  • good vid

  • good video. shows how simple it really is, thanks

  • If i left the guts and intestines below my stand, could i use that for coyote bait????

  • Yea. I use it for coyote bait. You have to wait a little bit though. Because the coyotes won't come around for awhile once they hear a gunshot. So you would need to give it like 2-3hrs.

  • I usually pour water on the gut pile to make it freeze (Northern Alberta). This makes the yotes work for it and they stick around a lot longer in larger groups as they lick they're gut-sickle

  • this is a really good video. When i field dress my deer i cut through the breastplate though, it makes it easier to get the lungs and heart out.

  • io do the same i think cutting threw the sternum is alot easier for getting that stuff out

  • i know some people just reach up in there and cut em out but i like seeing what im cutting, no boo boo's that way lol

  • nice video

  • good one

  • haha great vid for 13 bucks lol THANKS 4 youtube lol

  • WHAT they sell this vid? 4 13 omg.i agree tnx utube

  • No, they don't sell this video for $13. The one they sell is more about the actual processing of the deer and not field dressing. It goes into skinning the deer and removing the different cuts of meat from the bone. I just usually save the backstrap and tenderloin, then grind the rest for burger.

  • Thanks for the video.

  • hey i'm goin huntin for the first time this year and i was worried it would be hard to do that but thanks, this video is handy

  • What would an American guy do with the intestines and all the stuff in there??? Because in the Philippines we eat all the parts, we have special dishes for specific part of the animal

  • leave it for the coyotes.

It will be completely gone within two days.

  • back straps!!!

  • well that guy is good at cleaning a deer. when i shoot a deer i just bring it striaght home and hang it up then start to gut it i just cant do it on the ground like he did.

  • Tyhanks , this is the BEST feild dress instuction on the web thanks.

  • Good video i will be using this video for a long time

  • as shall I

  • ive never been hunting before were going this year and this is exactley what i wanted to know thanks

  • This is an EXCELLENT video. Thank you!

  • The heart is one of the best parts of an animal. I don't think I have ever eaten deer heart, but I love fried elk heart.

  • This was great!! thanks a lot

  • thats a nice doe

down in texas we uslayy dont get does that big

  • hahahahaha

  • very informative... as an avid hunter you just showed me how to get the rectum out without busting the pelvis good video and every hunter age appropriate

  • Okay, I'm a city guy, so all of this is completely new to me. Interested because you never know when the day may come when you are in a survival situation and may need these skills.

Is it the same for smaller animals?

Still trying to get my head around where you guys think this is fun. ;)

  • depends on the aninmal

  • For me, it is fun in the accomplishment, in spending time out in the Lord's creation, and providing food for my family (whenever I finally bag one:)

It is not fun if you are doing it just to uselessly kill something. Also, as a good hunter you would want to kill it quickly and as painlessly as possible. People who like to cause as much pain as possible are sick and evil.

  • Awsome... Thanks alot. More videos like this are needed for new hunters.. Very informative.. Thanks ...

  • Very nice video. Great technique and good detail.

  • Very professional video. Thank you!

  • i wish it was me

  • i know that guy he my nabior

  • If you buy the video, it covers the process all the way to the table...

  • great vid.

  • there are many good ways..this is a good way as well

  • Great video. Very professional, thourough and respectful of the animal. Very good job.

  • Very good i start from the chest cavity thought

  • MMM! this makes me HUNGRY!

  • Very useful. I have been trying to find a video like this for a while

  • great video considering i have no idea what to do...

  • lol it got flagged alot

  • i do it like this i start from the lower where the stomahc is the grab the fat on the stomach area then cut that then gut it up to the breast plate

  • very well done video.

  • Damn good video, I think its gonna help alot.

  • Very clear and well done video. I will recommend this purchase to my friends. Great job!

  • very informative thxs

  • this is the best how-to video on this subjest as well. very profesional

  • Great video. I'll prob end up ordering this.

  • Very professional, very informative. This is the best field dressing video I have found for deer. Excecllent job!

  • Shot my first deer yesterday and had this video memorized. I felt like a pro and had no problems. Thanks!

  • wow it looked so easy on here! i hope mine turns out that easy. great video!

  • COOL i just bought this

  • Thx, going out today for my second time and will hopefully harvest a deer. This video has fully prepared me for the task of field dressing a deer. I need to find a smaller knife though.

  • went out and bought a rambo knife huh?lol me too

  • One other precautionary step not mentioned in this video which I believe is a good one, in the very beginning after cutting around the anus intestinal tube, tie the anus off with a piece of string. This will prevent any poop from coming out when you are pulling the guts out.

  • very very good video. iv watch this a few times. very educational

  • Very good video tutorial this will come in handy out in the bush. great stuff A+.

  • thank you so much for this excellent video. i've always hunted with a buddy and assisted him with the field dressing. this year i will be on my own and its nice to have such an informative video to follow.

    Thanks again Kentucky!!!

  • I have to say, that as a primer, this video was exceptional. very accurate, clean, simple. and A++

On a Side Note: From my experience, it is the High Carbon, not the stainless steel knives that hold the best edge, one with a finger stop due in part to all the blood Think VERY sharp knives and slippery surface of knife), full tang, and solid enough to get a good hand on.

  • wow ive shot alot of deer and i do it the same way... you could of shot a buck...but nice very helprful for people that have not field dressed a dear before

  • that was pretty good. I need to find a way to get this one my ipod for in the woods.

  • very useful to "unknown" brains.... could of got a buck though.. but very good

  • does anybody know the brand of that knife?

  • it looked like a gerber

  • you know what i've found works amazingly well? those little 3 inch paring knives.

  • Very nice, I never thought of doing that yesterday :-) We gutted it, but i didn't think of skinning it there. 5*s

  • Very well put together video.

I have field dressed alot of deer both does and bucks, and I have never cut all the way around through the diaphragm. No wonder it takes me so long to field dress.

I can't wait to dress my next deer so I can learn to sever the diaphragm and make the process much easier.

Thank You for improving my hunting skills that much more. Thats the great thing about hunting. You put the good advice that "works" in your pocket and keep it forever!

  • Very professional video... I'm taking my 9 year old out this year for his first hunt and wanted to give him a little idea of what's in store. He's fully committed to the hunt now and I greatly appriciate your professionalism and technique. BTW... this is exactly how my father taught me to dress out in the 80's. Good tip on broadheads... I've found those inside deer during rifle season. It's just a good practice to get into regardless of season!

  • Thank you Kentucky for putting this video out there. This guy thanks you!

  • Thank You so much for this vid! I havent gotten my first deer yet but Im glad that I now know what to do with it once I do!

Ive seen others but they werent as precise as yours.

    Very pro job!

  • Excellent video!

  • thanks

  • i guees there is more than 1 way you can gut a deer i do mine a lil diffrent than this

  • Thanks very much for an excellent presentation!

  • im 15 lol i got to dseer last year but my buddie guted them for me i need to learn quick lol november is comeing fast thanks for the info i will be watching it repeatedly to memorize it lol

  • What kind of knife is that? Your video, compared to all others I've seen is VERY professional and makes it look so easy LOL. For me, it was a nightmare the first time He he he he.

  • Well done guys, nicely detailed and informative, worth every penny even to a seasoned deer/elk hunter, everyone will find good knowledge to be had in here.

Either they will learn a new trick or technique, or they will be reminded of something they might have forgotten over the years.

    Good job.

  • Thanks guys! good info!

  • Very good!I have gotten many deer with rifle but the tip on the broad head was a great reminder to be careful to watch out for the head if you do not find the arrow.

$13 for the DVD endorsed by the KY DNR sounds like a winner to me!

  • Thank You for the useful knowledge.

  • This is great. I like getting the road kill if its fresh and not to bad. My dogs love the deer meat. I dont like wasting meat. They get the head and all.

I feed them chicken backs and necks normaly but this is a ral treat for them.

  • love it

  • fantastic.. i got so keen i bought the dvd..!

    Awesome dvd too!!!!!!!

  • Great info.

  • Thanks helped very much!

  • Very well done! Clinical, educational, and to the point.

  • Fantastic. Convinced me to buy the video.
