  • what an elegance and beauty... the tradition of polish Chopin-interprets goes on, i enjoy it so much.

  • ole tus huevos,gran pianista!!!!!!!

  • The rare I-IV-I at the end is icing on the cake for my favorite nocturne by anyone.

  • 4:06 is such a heavenly moment

  • @fledgehog exactly what I thought

  • @MrAsungot and so what ... ? damn

  • I'm an old man and have seen he greatest---and now we have this wonderful boy! ow about that?

  • RAFAL BLECHACZ IS NOT BETTER OR WORSE THAN ANY OTHER PIANIST: HE SIMPLY IS.............AND THAT IS ENOUGH FOR ME. BRAVO, RAFAL! WONDERFUL CHOPIN.

  • *swoon*

  • @angle021 I now right?????

  • wow, chopin jumped into XX century in this nocturne.beautiful interpretation of rafal

  • gorgeous but never superfluous. the music is divine and the performer is an angel

  • I think this is a relatively good performance, and he has a good stage presence if you have seen him. Personally I would have like a freer flowing style. I agree with the comments that it sounds a little unsettled and forced in places - he still sounds like a competition pianist. . But he's young - give it time. (Mind you Chopin was probably about the same age when he wrote many of these pieces - but that was a different time.) This is a very difficult Nocturne to interpret.

  • @simonsmatthew I would say it is much more than just a "relatively good performance." He plays with intensity and passion where needed, yet his nuances are many - the jewelled perfection when the main theme returns wrapped in crystalline trills is exquisite. You complain about no rubato but his rubato is divine near the end where the right hand wanders far into the upper register, and there are many more such moments throughout the piece. All of this is better than "relatively good."

  • @simonsmatthew To me, the free flow you say he lacks is the linchpin of his performance! I like him precisely because he does NOT sound like a competition pianist. But you're right about this being a very difficult Nocturne to interpret and I agree that there could be even more subtleties. But I think all in all he's one of the best players to come along in recent years. To me, in Chopin he sounds a lot like Cliburn. I'd be curious to know what you think, and what new pianists you like.

  • Not a totally convincing performance. In fact, I dare say that this Nocturne is SO special that no one who plays it would ever completely like another pianist's version. It is such in individual musical statement in that sense.

  • @normthedoorman absolutely love your comment. you're right on the mark. the piece is so amorphous and abstract (deceptively so, given how beautifully melodic it is). the only recording of this that speaks to me is the one by Arrau.

  • not convincing (niet overtuigend)

  • It's strange but however good is this pianist's playing it still makes me feel a little bit nervous as if he doesn't "reach" something really special in this performance.

  • I think I know what you mean. He's very talented, but this nocturne is soooo difficult to play convincingly. I guess it takes many more years of life experience to have something to say with it.

  • 0:59 - 1:55

    najlepsze

  • Beautiful.... *breathless*

  • 2:15-2:25 made my heart melt..

  • What amazing playing this is! What soul, heartfelt and melancholy coming from this prodigy and genius! His playing is only slightly inferior to Rubinstein and Pollini. He will equal them in 10 years time! He is so young!

  • He is much better than Rubinstein, who makes Chopin sound like a machine.

  • @tubestied44 Who told you that ?

  • Rafale, ja też studiowałam u Pani Profesor Ekateriny Popowej - Zydroń.

    To genialna nauczycielka ! ! !

Justyna Philipp ( ta od P. Lacherta )

  • He should play Fantasie Impromptu!!! That would be AMAZING to hear... his would the definitive version!!

  • i love this guy's soul

  • i would love to hear he play op.27 no.2 !!

  • seems more passion than idil biret

  • i really love is trills espsecialy at 4:35

  • wow, he is a trully artist, a trully musician, he play with his hearth, beatiful sound, beatiful performance, one of the best pianist of our days. BRAVO!

  • Sadly, there are only 100 recordings of him on youtube...

  • I really love his trills

  • I would also love to hear Rafal play Nocturne op. 9 no. 2!

  • Agree!!

  • can you upload the Nocturne Op62 No2

  • Rafal Blechacz brings fresh air in our days' pianistic world, which has been so long contaminated by "aseptic" performance practices. I will follow this artist's career closely from now because he is the first one I have found interesting since the golden times of people like Cortot.

  • I very much doubt he is not gonna be one of the best pianists of all times - He has it all !

  • 2005 chopin competition winner, this guy is awesome

  • incarnate refinement, elegance

  • watch out, stupid z666z666z wil probably come and curse this brilliant pianist too. z666z666z has this comtemptible habit and sounds like a complete retard.

  • HAHA LOL!!! omg! this is so true and funny! isnt it horrible that u, me and ev1 else that has agreed with u knows who this guy is and recognizes how rude he or she is!!!!! its horrible, and yes z666 must have no brain/sanity!

  • I LOVE HIM !!!
