I dunno why Slayer did this.....if they wanted to be kool, they'd look underground, find a hardcore band (whether you like Manson or not, I don't care, but Slayer is more hardcore) and bring THEM on the tour, make THEM big (cuz people would still buy the tickets, it's Slayer) and create a successful band. If they toured with Megadeth, fine, Megadeth's hardcore too, they go well together. But WHY would they tour with someone who's NOT hardcore? They're SLAYER!

Very well said. I've always hated "metal", as, as you said, its basically just fast drumming and chugging powerchords as fast as you can. I've always preferred technical and progressive style music, the kind with deep meaning and nice rhythm. A few of these bands include Dream Theater, RHCP, Muse, Marlyin Manson, you know, bands that have there own league, you cant really compare them to anyone else. Metal sounds the same, they sing about nothing, and it's boring :P. Thats my opinion.

The atmospheres generated by the multi-layered instrumentation is complex and brilliant. Now, as much as I love Slayer, they've never used this sort of complexity in their music. Speed isn't everything.

I'd have to say that Manson rocks ass. Personally, I hated Slayer's performance. I think that they suck at screaming.
And I know that MM isn't metal, but he still fucking made my day with that performance.

ur acting like saying that to me is gonna make a fucking difference on how i feel about them. theyre the worst band on the whole fucking tour. hands down. even job for a cowboy performed overall better than bullet. and theyre garbage too. even mushroomhead, the least publicized of the whole tour did better. i know. i went to most of the shows. i work for metal blade records, which funded the event in part this year. we had to accomidate corpse for stuff like tech and transport

Be sure to get there early for Whitechapel...my buddy made me late and I was fucking pissed. I heard a few songs from the line and was able to watch the last song. It's not the same as being up there during the whole set....

Well first off Marilyn Manson isn't even in the same genre as Slayer, and Marilyn Manson is very questionable in his appearance. It's alot like if you paired Cannibal Corpse with Bullet For My Valentine.

I, for one, love both Slayer and Manson, though I have to admit, Manson's newer work isn't nearly as good as his earlier works, while Slayer has kept up pretty well.

But listen to Antichrist Superstar. The layering with the guitar and keyboards is fantastic. An example? The song "Cryptorchid." The atmospheres generated by the multi-layered instrumentation is complex and brilliant. Now, as much as I love Slayer, they've never used this sort of complexity in their music. Speed isn't everything.

i'm sorry but mayhem defiantly lowered there standards for this year. last year they had both slipknot and disturbed killing it! this year i left halfway through manson's set...cause he sucks he thinks he's a rock god ..and he's far from it. and i've seen slayer 3 times already and they're honestly nothing special..

I agree, Disturbed and Slipknot were kick-ass!! MachineHead and Five Finger Death Punch was also good!!!...
The only let-down for me was DragonForce...I fell asleep in the chair during their set...haha
