@niallf331 Rory was a quiet and humble man off stage. Although adored by women he was not a 'ladies man' by any stretch of the imagination. He didnt like, want or need flashy promotion or staging. All his posed photographs are simple band shots, a embarassed smile can be seen on his face when asked to do silly shots. There is no way Rory would have chosen to do a Shoot with women, I can only assume he did it out of politeness.
Is it just me, but it sounds like Donal is basically saying he was killed by prescription drugs???? Or at least his liver died because of it.....but if that's true why didn't Donal sue the doctors??
@AceHermes yes, it was 1980 when Rory played in new zealand. I even had the tour poster "Top Priority". He also appeared on TV for an interview.
Remember, this was at the hight of the post-punk disco era (or error). The interviewer asked Rory what his plans were if he were to retire, he stated that he would peobably be a session musician. I remember that question!
@nickkalisz : He's looking very young because he's only 15 years old . You can few this photo on Flickr dollerosa photostream . It's a German lady with alot of great Rory photos and artworks .
it is rory, must be inverted photo, its his fender esquire, that he put a strat picup into to make it a telecaster, he used it for alot of slide guitar, RIP Rory - thanks for all the great tunes!
heard rorys music for the first time last year im now 16 and have taken up guitar since hes a true inspiration i dont think he is mentioned enough in guitar magazines or count downs of the greatest guitar players and so on on music channels,im a cork girl myself and if I ask my friends some of whom play guitar if they know who rory gallagher is they look at me stupid its a shame his amazing talent should be well known of amoung all ages especially in his home town, his music has truly inspired me
Thats one of the worst crimes ever made in music. Rory wasn't even included at the 500 top guitarists ffs. That makes me sad so Im trying to let every rock fun I know about him...
@indiebaby08 I hope he inspires you as much as He inspires me and i'm 49! I shook his hand once outside the Birmingham odeon in 1991 on the Jinx tour. Johnny Marr of the Smiths is also a big fan but you wouldn't of guess now would you!, I guess we miss him so very much, I loved Him like a brother, one day I'll get to Cork and pay My respects.
Great interview, thanks for posting it. I would have appreciated an e-mail from you before seeing my pics on YouTube, though. As an administrator of the RG group on Flickr, I would very much like you to get in touch with our members before using their photos. Thanks in advance, cheers, martine.
Never seen the photo of the band draped in women!! Rory can't have been comfortable with this?

so it was a freakin's nosocomial infection, a bug from the hospital, that did him in? Damn.
Saw him play the electric sitar on several songs at a gig he did in Washington DC, back about '83 --

@indiebaby08 I saw him in 1976. He was great. Check out Peter Green as well. Another phenomenal blues guitarist.
