as a firefighter, his was without a doubt, THE single BEST documentary I have ever viewed on the FDNY, on the fire department in general. God bless these men, their families and all of those heroes that will never be forgotten from that fateful, god awful day. everytime i get on the rig i can only wish to be as great as these men. courage is not the absence of fear, but the realization that there is something more than fear. may the brotherhood stay strong nation-wide forever.
I am a firefighter/paramedic in East TX, in a town of about 250k people. I would love to meet Capt. Metcalf, he is one of my idols. Ive been on the job since 98. Soon I will promote to Lt. I take care of my guys, and they take care of me. I remember being a rookie and all that comes with it, but I love this job and now I get to pass on my expierence to the new guys coming in. I've got 343 tattooed on my left arm in a maltese cross. We love you FDNY brothers, greetings from TX!!!
“One day you will be old, you will be frail and you will be slow and someone will ask you; What did you do in your day? What did you do in your prime?....... When you were young and strong and fast, and you will tell them you were a fireman, and when the day is done and the page is turned, that we be enough.......How are my Spartans?....... Do you want this job?....... Come and get it!!”
you want this job? Yes sir! Come and get it!
