Also in homes where you can unplug the old phone provider's line like he showed in 2:25-2:33, and then just plug your vonage into a wall outlet in your house then your phones into other outlets in your home.
This is the perfect evolving example of why the Communication Utilities created the Residential NID/Demarc Point of Service.......Mr DIY'er, go ahead booger it up real good but we won't be out for free anymore
go to the Network Interface Device (NID) box and ONLY disconnect the jack(s) ( no need to pull wires or unscrew them) that will isolate the house from the rest of the Plain old telephone service (POTS) no need run a wire out the window. now you can pick up the phone and hear no dial tone. Now connect your vonage device or other VOIP service to your phone jack.
@simbalage22 yea. It would have been easier. But my house actually had like 3 separate lines. Upstairs, downstairs, and guest room. So I couldnt just refeed it cause it would be just one room. Maybe on a newer home it would be easy. This ole house... lol
lol.. ur hack... LMAO... its basic principal at the dpoint to just simply unplug it, add a coupler to the male and run that to your vonage! not hating good video though, just most ppl dont want to wire like this.. a coupler from the male to the telco, or a rj-11 cord with extension plug on the end would do wonders too.
@MrSpudman30 yea that's if your house has only one line. I apparently had 3 after all said and done. So back feeding would be pointless, only for one room.
You don't need to do all that work to do that. I have done the same thing by just pluging the phone line from my vonage to a phone jack in the house and it back feeds to the entire house. I have dsl connected to direct to my dsl modem so the dsl line does not run in the entire house.
@MrSpudman30 You're correct, however he did it that way because he wanted to use the only two existing jacks in his house for phones. If he used one to backfeed the line from his vonage box, it would have defeated the entire purpose. The way you suggest would be great if he had several jacks. What he should have done was remove the wall plate from one of those indoor jacks and wired it in that way.
I am currently using voxcorp and find it great in terms of the service they are provding and economy in using it especially in making international calls to
So, is this a service for those that Already HAVE a Phone line? Like, If I was to move into a Place that Didn't have a Phone line, & I Got Braodband, would It Still work?
I have a VOIP system using skype and every room in my house has their own phone number (12 Rooms). I use a PBX box.
i have one room dedicated to all my servers cat wiring tv,internet, home entertainment and all my light system- everything is running by a home automation system.
all in a lump some this method is the hardest way to do a simple hack. like the previous post I have doen this too. Just disconnect the phone co from the outside box and then plug my Voip into an interior plug. Why does this have to be a telco level hack? Why not do it simple?
cant you achieve the same result by unplugging the phone jack shit from the box then plugging the vonage device into any interior phone jack and get voip throughout the whole house...
Even better just don't do anything listed in the video. Really with wireless phones nowadays you don't need a actual phone line in every room. And even if you do there are much better ways to accomplish what is done in this video.
If you're willing to sacrifice one wall jack, you can have the house wired without cutting wires and having phone cords sticking out the window. Just unplug that thing at 2:29. Then plug volip into a walljack. That's it. Just make sure that thing at 2:29 doesn't get plugged back in.
You intro is moronic.

just buy a voip converter and plug it into your router... you can then plug your cordless phone into it .... simple
stephendevlin 2 years ago
@stephendevlin well really you can get a 4+ line cordless and plug main into vonage, then the rest are just plugged into power... lol
but this is the manual way, and i thought it first. :-P

Well after I did this. I got a message from
someone saying what you said. But I have 3 seperate lines at my house. So plugging it into
the wall to refeed to the house wouldn't work as well.
But yea...
DATBOIPatGMAIL 2 years ago
I'm sure you can use any other voip. As long as it uses a phone line like shown.
