@gormitiguy1 ... absolutely. I was debating if it warranted a separate tutorial or not, but yes, you can definitely use this technique to make terrain, then apply all the vegitation, foliage and buildings to it.
@gormitiguy1... oh... sorry...thought you were referring to rocks... the fake rocks tutorial would go well for terrain... but I would say for miniature trees, due to the small size of things would be a little bit tricky. The trunks would work OK I would think, and maybe for palm trees... It would be technically possible... but the other methods I use are better for miniature trees.
I would say they would get very wet and fall to bits if put into the water, because they are made of paper, but you could put them behind the tank to give the illusion...:)
@gormitiguy1- yes we have some noisey birds...gets annoying sometimes, and then they get banished to a closed room. You do some good stop motion... congratulations.
