We were fortunate enough to get on board this aircraft from ORD>AMS earlier in the month. The seat is simply fabulous, the service was exemplary and I actually wished the flight was longer!
The return flight we were not so lucky getting the older configuration which really pales in comparison, in fact it's an absolute shame .
Wat really sucks is that this Friday I'm flying with them I'm twelf and my sis is 14 we have to sit in coach and after seeing what business and first class gets I want to cry:(
I flew you guys to Beijing from Dulles last month in first. I was surprised to see a 14 hour flight not have the new first class. However, my mother flew out of Dulles on the same plane in the evening to Frankfurt had the new 777 first class. I was upset because first is expensive. But, still great service! Like none other!
@CathayGuy We're still in the process of outfitting All of our widebody aircraft with the new seats, it takes time unfortunately. However, I am personally glad to hear you enjoyed the service and hope you fly enough to see and experience the New first and Business class seating.
Very few people pay for first class outta their pockets. the people who pay for first class are paid for by their companies. Others are frequent fliers who paid for business class and get upped.
For goodness sakes new United better keep its true first class. Those seats are incomparably superior to most other offerings available today. Continental's "BusinessFirst" (not quite first class, not quite business class) is a decent Business Class product but not in the same league as International United First.
why do only rich people get to enjoy this kinda stuff? why can't there be an airliner company that makes all of their planes 100% like this and doesnt segregate the rich from the normal people
@redsd2121 because most rich people worked their ass off and probably payed 9 dearly to be rich. The rest are born in rich or snobs but they deserve luxury if you wish to pay the price. Economy is for normal average joe who has an hourly job middle class etc..
You don't have to be rich to enjoy these. If a family member works for an airline, you can either fly free or discounted on first/business class if it is available. But one pain is that you have to fly stand-by and you have to wait for a seat for you. I don't even think people pay full price for these seats! Who pays over $7,000+ On just a seat o_o.
@xXUNCLETONYXx completely untrue. air canada is world renowned for terrible service. plus, they have no real for class, only a business class offering.
USAir's new Envoy suite looks just as nice and they face out the window, furthermore, I like USAir's new Envoy color palette. It's bright and fresh colors, not dark colors like this. What are looking at is United first class seat. United's business class seat pales in comparison to the new Envoy seat as well as Continental' s and Delta's new business class seats. USAir really stepped up on their A330's, and in my opinion, they have the best seats for business class now.
and i thought that their new business class could qualify for a first class..impressed. Im happy at the path United is taking, no more are they caring about only making money, they finally realized that if you want to make money, you have to make people actually want to fly with you. The service is improving, the workers are no longer so irascible but their 777 cabins could get a re-do
@ie210 The funny thing is, the bulk of revenue comes from business class seats. First and economy bring in the same amount of revenue, more or less...
@CamieTheGreat Give me a list of these airlines, and i'll give you the level of how much farther out the ass you have to pay to get the same, or better in flight experience.
o_O i can only dream sitting there lol :D btw, why do people want first class?? isnt it enought until business class... i think its a waste of money... i think...
it's not that much more expensive than business if you use miles to redeem. I had a choice between business and first and the diff was only 10,000 miles each way, so it was worth it for a 14 hour flight. I ended up in the older first class suite, but from my experience, the older suite is better on one feature, the desk above the seat to place a laptop that's missing on the new suites...
I'm a United fan... they're so cool! The new First class seats are absolutely fabulous, but I love Economy Plus too.... more legroom for sure, and Channel 9 just makes my day!
I'm getting a little sick of all the pandering to 1st class customers. How about a couple inches of extra legroom for the cattle? We are the ones who keep your airplanes full. Uniteds "Economy PLUS" is a great first step.
That's the reason I fly myself or, if I have to, United when I go overseas. Economy Plus works just fine for me and it's a freebie when I flash my military ID. American treats it's cattle like dogshit. I'll never set foot on another one of their Airplanes.
When you pay 14,000 for a first class ticket to Australia...then you can bitch. Perhaps economy is keeping the plane full, but that is NOT where the majority of the profit is from...it's from the business class and first class passengers. I am a 1K and traveled over 160000 miles last year and my company always BOUGHT me a business class ticket (albeit a discounted business class fare since United is our "preferred airline)...so, a packed economy does not mean profit
Ok, clueless people. Delta Airlines does not even offer "FIRST CLASS". They only offer two classes of service on thier aircraft, BusinessElite and economy. United offers true FIrst Class service and Business class service, along with two classes of economy service. Having flown both United and Delta, United's international FIRST class service is far superior to Delta's.
I used to be plat med on Delta and now I am 1K on United...all I can say is that both airlines flight attendants on international routes are as old as dirt!
@sp8211a They may be old, but that's because International routes are "High Seniority" Routes, some flight attendants can work for 20 years at an Airline before they have enough "Juice" to be able to hold an International flight line bid. That said, Old or not, UA Still has some of the Best FA's in the Sky.
@MyleneJ I am sorry but I don't agree; how often do you fly? I just got back from PVG (Shanghai) to LAX/ORD, first class with United new configuration on the 777; the flight attendant was cranky and IMO was inferior to any Asian airline...just standing the facts...
@sp8211a how often do I fly? I'm On board some form of UA aircraft almost 5 days a week, and have been for the past 26 years of my life, That's how often. Seen first hand the evolution of Uniteds cabin product over those 26 years, and gotten to know many of the flight attendants on the routes i fly by name. And I'm sorry, I'd still rather have an intelligent and experienced Flight attendant on my flight over a 22 year old Bimbo with a Beverage cart.
@MyleneJ Well, then if you fly that must and you believe that the flight attendants are the BEST FA's in the sky, you are either a flight attendant or by some luck have gotten nothing but superior flight attendants, which is amazing. I asked my friends the other night at dinner who are either 1K or Global Services (we are consultants) and the mutual response was that the flight attendants on the INTERNATIONAL legs are old, tired, and cranky. So, I wish you continue luck on your journeys...
@sp8211a No, it doesn't but I get quite fed up listening to people who think that the flight attendant profession should be nothing but Young "Pretty" Girls. Heaven forbid anyone be allowed to work to retirement age. Its sexist, and ignorant to believe that. Just because you don't have something you can ogle like a horny schoolboy doesn't mean that your 'old' flight attendant is any less qualified to do her job. And as far as I'm concerned, qualifications are more important than looks.
@sp8211a No, you flew on a United 777; that is a FACT. You felt that their product "IMO was inferior to any Asian airline" . THAT is an OPINION And, IMHO, you cannot judge an entire AIRLINE from ONE employee.
@TXbrokeback Don't need the grammar lessons but thanks none-the-less...and I am judging the entire airline based on many, many experiences not just one...
My opinion is not alone, if you look at the subjective rankings of others e.g. skytrax, the Asian airlines are ranked much higher than UA or any US based airlines...
@acarr3rd Delta however has free range to make BizElite as high class as they can as they do not have a higher product to make it look inferior to justify an individual paying more for F vs. J (since J is as high as it gets). It's the same with CO with BizFirst. Now is BizFirst and BizElite as nice as UA Int'l F? More than likely not, but they are up there.
@acarr3rd United International First isn't bad, but I think it's a stretch to call the inflight product far superior to BusinessElite or even United Business. Fact is, UA and AA int'l F products aren't really very differentiated from their C class products. All three of these airlines offer decent premium cabin products, and I've had many enjoyable flights with each of them, but they pale in comparison to some of the foreign flag competition. For all the people that knock United, need to take a step back and think about why they're complaining. 25 years of Flying on United, and Ive never had One poor experience. Period.
