Chelios? CHELIOS? come on. Now, granted, Draper is a pretty good role guy, so is Holmstrom, but your team is getting so OLD. Besides, who seems to enjoy choking more than any other team in the NHL? (Edmonton, Calgary, Anaheim the last few years beat them.) The only two guys who stand out on there are Datsyuk and Zetterberg. Osgood looks a lot better when the defense isn't allowing any shots for the first 13 minutes of each period.

Ok. The Penguins won't suck next year. Any team with Fleury, Crosby, Malkin, Talbot, Sykora, Gonchar, Orpik, Whitney, Letang, Satan and Fedetenko should be at least considered one of the strongest teams in the East. The West is a different story. But hockey works like this. You have the draft, then free agency, then in February you address your needs through trades. If Detroit is what we're emulating, then we need speed and lack of joy. We get those two things coupled with experiance we're fine.

Hossa hadn't really done anything to warrent a huge contract until the playoffs this year. No HUGE loss. A big one, but the east is so intent on picking up the old players, while the West gets the East's younger free agents. The Penguins are the same team as last year, minus a few guys who appearantly like money. Not a million dollars, not two million, not even three...five or more. Malone, I'm speaking of you. And Ruutu, well, he deserved the money. Other than that, we still have the core.

We can say we're the best, on paper, in the East. That's what I said. Detroit has a joyless, emotionless, machinelike team that is like a tank in a parking lot. They are the best team in the league. But like I said,if teams would emulate Detroit's playing style, they would beat them. Pittsburgh has so much talent and determination, they're just missing the grit they had. Get it back in February, and we're good. Plus, we just got Matt Cooke. So we should be fine.
