i am shocked by some comments brought about by this video, can we not learn from mistakes made in history?? We are all human, cannot beleive the cruelty that our boys are forced to commit in the name of defending our country.

@luclo16 We never actually lost the war. Conventional war knowledge demonstrates that reality. This in fact was never a War and it was never intended to be won or lost. Vietnam gave a cold war nation an opportunity to engage forces with China and Russia, to test our capabilities and infiltrate communist Asia, establish spy networks. Anyone with a knowledge of history, politics and war knows this.

I think it end as it did, not because the troops were unwilling to fight, but because they were never give a good reason to go 8000 miles to fight in what was a civil war, which had no bearing on the U.S. what so ever. And when you send a bunch of young men somewhere, against an enemy not clearly defined, you get a lot of what happened to that village and it's innocent inhabitants in this movie.

I have no criminal record. I've never been anywhere near a prison. I am the definition of "The Good Soldier" (NIN song). I'm a good boy and always be ... war or jail never and never will apply to me. I still recall my Drill Sergeants' cadences, such as: "Got a letter in the mail ... go to war / go to jail". War is viewed as the equilvalent to a hard jail sentence or even the death penalty. I guess I was one of the few who joined for the right reasons; ...
So of course that Captain wanted to send me to Liberia BUT did not want to go to Liberian himself, cause he knew damn well that was equivalent to jail or the death penalty. But anyway, I wanted to serve my country for the right reasons and to hopefully gain a career ... but it ultimately didn't work out (which is kind of a long story). But anyway, in a sense, what that Captain tried to do to me (at that time) could be considered a form of attempted murder because I'm an innocent person.

War seems to always be a form of punishment. The reality is that the people that die were given permission to die because they were given the death penalty. It's terrible, however, if any innocent suffer/die in this process. If some part of war is used to, you know, stop the procreation of life in certain areas of the world ...

Many of them were drafted against their will but still fought bravely for their country, regardless of the righteousness and purpose of war. Probably the most accurate portrayal of the war ever made into a film, this war was a pointless war and was responsible for many deaths on both sides, innocent deaths as well. But what pisses me off is games like black ops i played it and was sickened how they showed the war and glorified it as just some war, now im english and england had no part in this at all but I it is important that people must be taut that there was nothing glorious about Vietnam for either sides.

I think it end as it did, not because the troops were unwilling to fight, but because they were never give a good reason to go 8000 miles to fight in what was a civil war, which had no bearing on the U.S. what so ever. And when you send a bunch of young men somewhere, against an enemy not clearly defined, you get a lot of what happened to that village and it's innocent inhabitants in this movie.

But anyway, I wanted to serve my country for the right reasons and to hopefully gain a career ... but it ultimately didn't work out (which is kind of a long story). But anyway, in a sense, what that Captain tried to do to me (at that time) could be considered a form of attempted murder because I'm an innocent person.

If that happened, I would not be alive today and I would have been forced to see extreme wrongdoings. But since I'm a "Good Soldier" and I joined the US Army for the right reasons, it's a good thing because you can't put an innocent person on "death row". At that time (around 2003), war in Liberia was considered automatic injury or death.

Probably the most accurate portrayal of the war ever made into a film, this war was a pointless war and was responsible for many deaths on both sides, innocent deaths as well. But what pisses me off is games like black ops i played it and was sickened how they showed the war and glorified it as just some war, now im english and england had no part in this at all but I it is important that people must be taut that there was nothing glorious about Vietnam for either sides.
