  • Take that apple!

  • This is easily possible the latest phones today like the Samsung Galaxy S2 is as powerful as the average computer 6 years ago

  • it's called "infinitum image processing" it's a feture in googled windows os

  • honistly a good out come from the mandelbrot set and puting the fractles to use how thay wer ment to from the start

  • can it help me find a girlfriend?

  • THAT IS COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • This is way cool!

  • i like!

  • WHY THE FUCK HAVENT WE GOT THIS YET

  • where can i download C-Dragon?? i already have Photosynth! =/

  • so much future technology just seems like the government have just created a way to spy on everyone in the world, and marketed it in such a way, so that not only do we want it, but we are willing to actualy PAY for it (don't get me started on money, i hate it) but this actualy seems like a genuinely positive technology for the future, honestly, this is so much more useful than flying cars, jetpacks and all that other bullshit that is impractical, this is the real future right here! well done

  • How is this ridiculous? I want this!

  • we have all this technology now and the goverment is supposed to be 20 years or so ahead of us in technology so imagine the things they have that we have yet to see in 20 years

  • I wish Adobe CS5 will be announced with touch screen compatibility:))

  • It only is limited by your ram lol.

  • that is amazing!

  • build in a gps and klock and compass

    there you have it

  • So we could have a global correlated imaging database, where you could collaboratively identify things and get annotated, geolocation enabled 3D models of the world through nothing more than your photographs.......

and we can't have it because of copyright lawyers?

  • @MadsterV Copyright is illegal.

  • well.. think of the privacy infringements. every move you make could be tracked.

  • Well atleast we know the technolgy exists, and by know its probaly has uptadated and improved on multiple times.

  • multi-taskers dream lol

  • I'm drooling already, lol.

  • lmfao same here i need this XD

  • sorry I'm already one with her. But she keeps asking to add others to the collective. lol keeping up the joke

  • Microsoft must of stole some tech from the borg. Now they work on a collective software LOL. Sorry I couldn't help it.

  • Does this mean there is a 7of9 roaming somewhere out there. I need to find it/her!

  • @lXlSnype i just had massive dejavu reading your post there lol even the reply you got underneath gave me wicked dejavu, i am officialy creeped out now.

  • it's a copyright nightmare

  • bcs I m Ted Kennedy lafin lafin lafin LOL LLLLOOOLLL

  • Why you say this video is from Microsoft if right there it says TED?

  • Yeah! this was the hot when i posted the video 2 yrs ago now That entire screen can be found on the tiny iPhone.

    Totally useless Microsoft crap!!

  • this is out for i phone.......

  • this getting to freaky ms but looks cool

  • Seadragon Is On iPod touch/iPhone!

  • for real?

  • when he looks at the book there's a picture of a fractal to the left of it. Fractals are never ending patterns. you zoom into the mathematically produced pattern and you keep going forever. it's basically how everything is made up in the universe. things go on forever. if the universe is infinite then how can anything be impossible? this image technology is mimicking this concept. you can keep breaking down one atom and get a better understanding of the universe. we are infinite consciousness

  • na not infinite, there exists quarks or even strings ^^

  • This technology would be perfect for terrorists.

  • A fucking copy of Rikard Lindell's C3 Loops audio/visual system.

  • WHAT! ...OH YEAH! awesome.

  • Our iphods today, have more pcu power then the computers 10 years ago...

Will we be able to do this in the future? Probably yes

  • lol, they must have built a proprietary machine to render such resolutions.300 MP?!!Really dont see any PCs(or Macs) on the market right now doing that.

  • Instant BSOD!

  • try that without a supercomputer! HA!

  • im gonna try it on my blackberry..lol

  • so... whats next ?

  • Real hentai.

  • Am I the only one that had a hard time watching this just because the guy keeps whistling while saying S's?

  • lol... yes, now i read it i cant stop thinking of his S

  • wow freaking amazing, love to hve that job

  • Very exciting, and ultimately the next phase for all information technologies. We've gotten to such a high point with the amount of information out there that it is time to consolidate it in an ergonomic and contextual way.

  • Everytime i watch this im just blown away.. yes i said everytime... I watch this alot lol

  • agreed

  • Wow, awesome!

  • SICK!!!

  • it is amazing

  • man this is cool. with this I could see the actual place even without actually going into it

    COOL

  • every little photo that used have big resolution,i think if we want to use the new technology image software from microsoft we should have computer with high end spesification.

  • this would use up alot of pc power to run.

  • would it? it's pretty much the same concept as google earth which doesn't take much pc power at all

  • this is AWESOME.. In the words original meaning.. just fucking awesome..

  • This is what the aliens do when they collect data from everybodys brains across space.

  • stfu douche

  • Comment removed

  • of astonishment !

  • I'd seen this demonstrated a couple of years ago with a space shuttle. It has grown quite a bit since then...

    Simply amazing.

  • Did you know, that the military gets the newest technology first before anybody in the U.S. It's stupid.

  • How is that stupid? If civilians get military technology when the military does that is a major security hazard. Mainly because if "Joe Blow" can access it, so can a foreign combatant. One thing you don't want to do is give the enemy a new tool to use against you.

  • It's not that they get it first - it's that they can afford it first.

Who's going to pay the millions necessary to have what is basically a prototype? You? Joe Average down the street?

Look at computers. Who had the first, those huge and expensive machines? The military. When they got a bit smaller and less expensive, it was the companies. Only when it was miniturized and made affordable was it released to the public.

  • Où allons nous?

  • Fairly cool idea, I like it.

  • what's the big deal with this if you have enough processing power and extremely high resolution images, or even a simple vector image for text? Before you call me stupid I am sure I am missing something.

  • @jamescatania: the problem is you don't, thats why you need a new technology, AND with new "technology" and "enough processing power" , we can do even more than we can imagine ...

  • very coool! I wonder if this will effect the travel and tourism industry

  • it's like google earth in a way

  • Wow, no words for this, awesome!

  • This is really impressive

  • cool...

  • awesome!!! O_O

  • amazing stuff

  • the software creates a seemless image from many seperate ones, hences my previous statement

  • holy shit that freking AKEFG)ONYRSENJGBNFRSGABNJ

  • You have no idea what you're talking about, do you?

  • why pay when everything is free online?

  • That's amazing. It would still seem that zoom-in speed would be limited by seek time. Zooming back out would also require re-reading the files. Also, the examples must have been bitmaps-- wouldn't each jpeg require full decoding prior to displaying a varying thumbnail?

  • Very impressive tho I wonder what sort of processor this was running on and how much memory is needed both in ram and hard disk storage space. I would guess quite a lot. He says the only limit is the number of pixels on your screen, but there's no other technical explanation given as to how this actually works or what the requirements are.

  • You can install it on your computer, too. It's available from Microsoft Labs. On my vaio core2duo 7300 2GB RAM it works like a charm. The limit is the number of pixel because it analyzes the images when they are added to the images library and saves the minimum amount of data required for a smooth rendering. When you zoom on an image it loads only the needed part (no, it is not necessary to decode the entire jpeg).

  • well thats cuz i dont know any of them...except for that one guy in the itunes commercial

  • did someone say porn

  • this is good but i would find it hard to find the pic im lookin for.. also y is one of the guys from the BEATLES between those 2 presidents??

  • I've never heard any member of the Beatles described as "one of the guys from the Beatles" before, but yes, that's John Lennon in the picture.

  • me want it

  • This is the same thing that was made by some Indian guy called Sampat Rabani or something.Heard about in the papers.

  • This looks a LOT like PicLens...

  • Ridiculous from What Planet Are You From?

  • why dont they use the thing for the notredame cathedral in the kennedy assassination, and figure out where the shots came from??

  • what program was he using?

  • This technology is simply insane, it will most likely cost thousands or £/$ to buy a licence to run it, i wouldnt want to know what system you would need to biuld to run such a high tech

  • amazing..

  • So with that besides entertainment what can we do with it? we already have google earth so where are they going with it?

  • This is infinitely more useful that Google earth

  • i don't really see how you can know where you are going by looking at a bunch of pictures.

why don't you answer my question.

  • Sorry, my comment was a bit dickish. Basically, this can do everything GoogleEarth can do, if needed, and so much more. I'm hoping you watched the whole video, where he talks about the program that utilizes Flickr, This could be used in many ways, from people taking photos of well, anything from their room, to a sculpture they have made, or a scene outside, and mesh them together to make a 3d panoramic image, and millions of other uses, in businesses,

  • video games made cheaply by small companies or single persons where the environments are 3d, based on the picture meshing, plus the part about the computer only needing to load the pixels currently on screen is obviously incredibly important in itself.

  • Those were bad examples but I don't have the time to think up examples, the point being is that the possibilities are largely restricted to what you can come up with. Plenty of creative uses out there for this. Plus, a basic point I forgot to mention, this is like GoogleEarth, but has a great feature GE doesn't, what they talk about with Flickr, and Notre Dame, with that ability, you could navigate through a whole city. (continued, next post)

  • Basically, in the video, they mapped out Notre Dame, from the inside, out, and off campus and down other streets. They wouldn't have to stop there, they could map out every building in the whole city or country or world. that in itself would be amazing to move through, it would be a 3d image of the world like goole, but from the ground, and i know they have a bit of that on google earth, but this would be a big leap forward.(continued again)

  • plus, once you have a 3d map of a city, you could turn it into a video game? Why not a futuristic war game where you actually fight in your own city, and neighborhood? The game would not have to have maps preplanned like Halo 3 or basically all games now, but the level design would be random, you could chose a section of the world, and it would add opponents, or it could be multi player, of course, this couldn't be done now, but that wouldn't be far off.

  • Or skateboarding, biking, etc in your own neighborhood in a game. I could go on, but i hate the fucking 500 character limit. Hopefully that makes a bit more sense. I wasn't trying to be a dick before either.

  • But actually, one of the main points they mention is how much information ("many many gigabytes) this program (sea dragon) can sift through so quickly: It doesn't matter how much information it is looking at, because the only thing that limits the technology is number of pixels on screen

  • im used to Apple slowly introducing new software and amazing technology to the point your used to it.

The sea dragon is new and cool looking id say but i didn't see where they are going with it.

im just disapointed at Microsoft for not being ahead of apple since they have more money i would expect greater things like ingame expirence or something like that.

they seem as though they are slowly going into the gaming industry cause apple is mostly bussiness.

    what do you think?

  • Its not something I know too much about. People like to rail on Microsoft. And Microsoft deserves it a lot of the time. But its hard to insult them from a purely business perspective, as have have done incredibly well and continue to do so monetarily. SO if their goal is to make money, they are a marvelous success. I personally care more about other things, innovation, creativity, the flow of a program working with the user instead of against the user.

  • well i hear people keep down grading to xp from vista. so how does the program work with the user if they prefer to go back rather than progress? and microsoft is loosing a lot of money each quarter with the 360's so they don't seem to have hold of gaming yet to make it work for them rather against. so apple completely overwelms microsoft in bussiness (which they have basically) then where does microft go?

  • Why again. if they are not for the money why don't they just shock the world. Vista is a copy of OS X. i only favor apple because they seem to think things through before they release it. Again Apple just came out the Mac book air, the Mac pro just got improved,(not really surprising, its just about time). Again im upset at Microsoft for not pazzing me. They should have invented setien computers by now if they "aren't to make money." but the ill say the SD is good but how good can it really be?

  • this is to continue the bottom reply...

well they try something completely new to step ahead a little in technology. but with the new tech what can they do is what i ask. the table computer is just useless in my opinion. so i think they really need to step up or they'll crumble completely with time.

so they copy apple "vista" "zune" "Tiger" "ipod" apple is real big on ipod since its what brought them up so fast.

so what do you think again?

  • I think the projects microsoft is working on, like seadragon, photosynth, deepfish, listas and so on are pretty amazing.

  • How is Zune a copy? Does that mean any other new PMP is a copy? Maybe MS did take some features that existed in Tiger to Vista, but your Zune to iPod comparison doesn't make sense.

    Care to elaborate?

  • I work for a group of radiologists. Their world is changing dramatically with re how they do their work. No film, all digital now. The size of the data they have to work with is growing exponentially. Many wonder how they will be able to consume and interpret so much data. This has real world potential. Just because you don't get it or because you dismiss anything MS does I wouldn't ignore this amazing technology.

  • ahh. thank you. that is the kind of response i was looking for.

I suppose a lot of good things now were ridiculed but they turn out to favor everyone.

i just didn't see it in the begining.

  • a couple more comments on the technology. MS didn't develop it they bought it. Now one of the richest companies in the world owns it. That may not be bad since they have the resources to develop it. To further support how useful this technology can be, our most challenging exams to perform are digital mammograms. We display 5 megapixel images as compared to 2 megapixel images for all others. Manipulating 300 megapixel image with all the other images in this demonstration is more than impressive.

  • didn't hear a fukin word he said

  • This is cool, i wouldn't call it "ridiculous" - i can see practical applications for that technology...

  • The title I am fairly certain was meant to have the opposite meaning: as in "Ridiculously Awesome". Two things that lead me to that conclusion is that fact that the user put this up, with no explanation as to why its ridiculous in the "absurd" sense, and because of the About This Video Section: "A glimpse into the future website exploration. " Seems like a positive description.

  • lol chillax

  • scotish!

  • Scotish? Wtf, how is he scotish lol

  • holy shit

  • most impressive

  • Wow this is an amazing technology!

  • the meta-intelligence is well on its way everyone! =)

  • Man, I want to work for Microsoft!!!

  • holy shit

  • my goodness. this is just one more reason, for me to stay in america.

  • oh fuck yeah
