This looks like a great camcorder (fantastic video too). Can I ask a question?
I'm thinking of buying this cam for an entirely different purpose - indoor filming of my band's performances; these will usually be at night, i.e. relying on only stage lighting.
Can you tell me anything about how well the cam performs indoors, low(ish) light, reproducing sound it picks up from a fairly loud PA system? That last consideration may not be vital as we may overdub from separate digital recording.
These sounds can then be blended in just as you use fades with the video picture etc.... if you try to buy these sounds on a dvd they cost a lot of money . You can build your own library for free when on location .
Excellent david I bought the 301 on the basis of your videos . The only tip I would give is on wind noise . At 2.08 (blue flowers ) the wind noise spoils it very slightly . As an ex sound recordist the tip I would give is to record ambeint sound that is nice and clear to use over clips such as this . We would always record about a minute of sound at different locations to help the editor . You can store these sounds ( bells , traffic , woodland sounds , chatter etc ) to use in future videos .
@evsynator Thanks, where I can I usually record sound after recording the video (unless the video is of something that needs sound there and then such as the buzzard calling or someone taking at an event) I try usually to cut out any clicks and wind as they do upset the video a little and use a tripod to stabilize my camera (clicks come form the built in stabilizer trying to work).
If you look at my Small Angle Shades video, the sound was recorded after the video was.
