Hmmm..in our world, to become a monk is to give up all posessions, sex, forget everyone and everything in your life and to lock yourself in an institution and to devote your entire life to meditation and worship of your deity. That is: to devote your entire existence to your religion, if you will. So these Space Marines take it a step further, and devote their entire existence to meditation and war (for the Emperor). So while they are (in the WH40k universe) holy, I wouldn't want to become one.

I think both DOW of DOW2 are both very very good games in their own right, and you have to remember that the developers were going for an entirely different feel for the second, so yeah. DOW3 is meant to make a return to base-building, however.

@VigonSaze They made it more squad based, removing the entire factor of constructing a base and building units, a similar theme used throughout the RTS genre. The difference is, though, that like myself, and many others, we preferred this over the squad system, as for the Dawn of War 2 structure has proven to be purely just boring now, and not so playable online. Generally, some people like it better, but most DoW fans prefer the original DoW over the second.

@cafedunhill77 I'd say they kept the fomula just fine-- take everything you know/expect from RTS games, crumple it up into a little ball, and toss it right out the window. I think the overall unit-level gameplay in DoW2 is much more interesting than in DoW1 and is way more in line with the tabletop game. It's not messed up, just changed.

I picked up the Gold Edition of DOW:2 on Steam when it was on sale awhile back for 10 bucks, its worth 10 bucks but I miss the fun of the first game, they should just incoporate both into the next game they make, I happen to like building bases and securing resources.

I like both games. Their parallel to one another. Different genres of games, but still feeling similar in various of ways. I think they should of kept the building creation, and the Warhammer 40: Dawn of War 2 tactics, would of made a very VERY intricate gaming experience. I wouldn't say Dawn of War 2 fucked anything up... because it's still WARHAMMER, still Chaos Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Blood Ravens, Tzeentch, Eldar, BIGGEST AND DA' STRWONGEST! It's still Warhammer and I love it <3

dow and dow 2 are completely different, it is not the same gameplay , dow 2 is more tactical and brain use than dow which means in rise the biggest army as you can and then charge the ennemy base , anyway both are cool none of them suck. that's just a question of taste.
