Red was definitely one of the more fleshed out side characters in the game, but I wish he could have had a bigger role. He's a very interesting character in general, with probably one of the coolest names in the game, Nanaki. That name made him so proud...

Well, he does have a widened snout similar to a tiger, but his snout would be too long to be a tiger. Not to mention his ears, posture, fur density, the ability to speak and understand English and Japanese, and the absence of retractable claws make him not a tiger.

One awesome thing about Red 13 is that he is available in nearly 100% of the game, not counting the time before he joined the party. He was my Cloud, Aeris, and Tifa backup when they were gone so in the end Red was about 5 levels ahead of everyone else in the party.

nanaki is by far the best charecter in ff7 he is strong smart and can kick your ass if you get out of place. nanaki and terra are the best charecters ever!

I still think he is more wolflike. Not only does he howl and scratch, he complained of the heat in Costa Del Sol drying out his nose, a trait pretty specific to canines, yet, his facial features suggest Mountain Lion, such as his widened and shorter snout. Yet his ear placement is neither Mountain Lion or wolf. His ears are like a dogs, yet they are on the sides of his head.

You lost one of the 4 FF7 discs? I feel sorry for you. But, if you have anPS3 and a special adapter you can transfer your PS/PS2 game files onto the console. For me, having the game downloaded was also an upside. You don't have to lose any of the discs but what is cooler than playing a game on a disk that is over a decade old?

I recommend, that once you get back to the game, go to Cosmo Canyon, Red's hometown, to buy HP Plus or MP Plus in one of Cosmo Canyon's shops. Cosmo Canyon is one of the only places to get HP or MP pluses and they are very useful in the Gi caves. I got through there by making one of my party members constantly Sleepel an enemy to put pressure off the team. I hope this info is useful for you!

i never got to finish the game :( when i played i got up to red's home land and i forgot to restck on potions and phoenix downs in that cave and i saved half way through i ended up getting to week to go forward and to weak to go back and i raged quit

wanted to play again a few months ago and I am missing a disk :'(

One thing that truly was the icing on the cake was the music in the game! It was a pure delight to the ears and soul! From the melancholy but proud chords of The Great Warrior to the swooping, adventurous and upbeat The Highwind Takes to the Skies. From the strangely upbeat and pompous Rufus' Welcoming Ceremony to the downright emotional storm of Aeris' Theme. There is a reason why people play this game. It is something truly special in all of our hearts... :)

I had found FF7 on PSN, and with it's low price tag and high reviews, I had decided to give it a try, and the game was beyond my expectations. $10 for over 70 hours of gameplay is one of the best deals on the PS Store! FF7 was one of the only games where I felt a special connection to the characters, like Cid, with his up and at-em attitude and the most Red 13, for his cool headed temperament and pure BA factor! Too bad Aeris was gone so soon...

One thing that also bugged me is, what exactly did Hojo do to Red while he was being Researched? He probably couldn't abuse or not take care of him, if he did, his chances of getting pure facts would be spoiled. Also, Hojo mentioned that they might have the ability to clone Aeris to continue research. Would have they done the same to Red also?

That must be terrible to live with the fact that not only are you the last member of your kin, there was a good chance that you might have been the last of his species on the whole planet. As Hojo said while putting Red and Aeris into that chamber, "These research specimens are endangered species, and it is my duty to save and study them!" Man, Hojo didn't even call Aeris by name, and just gave Red a color and a number!

Considering the hybridization of both Mountain Lion and Wolf Characteristics it is safe to say that Red 13 is a Wolf/Cougar. I still think he is more Wolf so I put the Wolf first.

Somehow, I can't decide if Red is Canine or Feline. He could be feline from his snout's design and from his long tail, but he could also be canine by his ear placement and shape, and he howls, and scratches similar to a dog or wolf. He turns from a complaining research specimen lost in an unknown place, only wanting to go home after possibly years of confinement in Shinra tower. No doubt, red is one of the best characters in the game, he is available through the entire game, and you get him very early on. He is the perfect replacement for Aeris and is useful for summons. His level 3 limit, Howling moon is great for boss battles, especially if double cut materia is equipped. Overall, he is my favorite non main character.
