The 'th' sound was adopted into the English language originally from its Greek roots. The new world English is called Globish - which accommodates non-English students of Asian extract who cannot pronounce the 'th' properly. That is why D and F replace it comfortably. By the way, how do you pronounce the famous Thames River flowing through London? Hope this helps.
