  • this is the true syndicate, the new EA syndicate is a pieace of shit, fuck EA, it ruind this beautiful game making it an FPS, DIE EA!!!!

  • the atmosphere, setting, and music in this game is pretty special.

  • What is this ??????

  • @Skalllomater An old game?

  • @Skalllomater What the new crap FPS decided to ruin.

  • i remember this game... lol

thouhgt the graphics were amazing... god now though they look abit shit...

  • @silverguy00 Yeah but that will also always remind us how far the graphical quality of the games actually has gone since then and that people who complain about some muddy textures or some 2D objects in the sky background are totally overreacting.

Calling the graphics of a 2012 game bad because it lacks some Anti Aliasing or doesn't look like Crysis 1 is just plain and simply...wrong. ^^

  • @NostalgicGames Agree entirely. I was playing Mass Effect 3 demo yesterday and my jaw hit the floor at how beautiful it looks, and I'm not even running it on a particularly amazing PC

  • Damn, this game RULED!!

  • Comment removed

  • Satellite Rain

  • gosh this is so retro

  • Fuck EA.

  • Personally I mostly didn't like that the atmosphere was so different from the original. And the lack of action oriented music. But I do love both games. Though Syndicate is and remains my favorite.

  • I remember me. This Game was so brilliant. Thx Bullfrog for that. :)

  • Loved these games. Magic memories

  • y no one remakes it with the SC2 engine ? :P

    i would, if i could ^^

  • Syndicate Wars was brilliant

  • I think people didn't like this sequel mainly because of the change in perspective. There was something about switching from pure isometric to the rotating camera view which just made it more complicated (and Syndicate could be a game which was hard as hell to keep your bearings on when it came to spotting where the enemy was at the best of times).

  • @MurrayTheMac I guess some players make their games more complicated then they actually are. I mean you didn't really had to turn the camera around it was just a feature that could be used and was helpful. Basically you could position the camera to a similar perspective like in Syndicate and just fade out the buildings when necessary.

In Syndicate you couldn't even see behind not to mention inside buildings so you were kinda blind and had to rely mainly on your radar. ^^

  • This game was sex >;3

To hell with the fps piece of shit !

  • Bullfrog made so many original games which at the time were way ahead for the time, shame on you EA for destroying such an innovative software company.

  • @warmonger357 So did Origin. They made tons of wonderful original titles as well. So did Westwood Studios. EA buried them all into oblivion.

  • I don't think I've seen any game other than the Syndicates (esp. Wars) that does such a great job at capturing how a city is alive. Sure, in GTA and others you can interact with any number of individuals, but thanks to the dual role they have in the game, in SWars the sheer number of people is in itself meaningful. The massive numbers are not just decoration. Makes for great atmosphere coupled with the great visuals and soundscape.

It's a shame there don't really seem to be any LP's of it.

  • @lepuuttelu The reason why there are not so many LP's is probably because the game cna be hard as hell sometimes and you can't save within missions so if you loose you would have to do the whole mission again.

Also there is an unwritten law among Syndicate players to never show the end sequence for some reason. ^^

  • @NostalgicGames I think someone who'd have time and interest to do quite a bit of extra effort could a Let's Play where you'd show the successful runs and on the failed attempts you'd only show a selection of highlights.

Also in order to avoid having to keep repeating some points in the commentary throughout the failed runs you'd want to record some of it off-game.

I can't get it to run on my computer at the moment so I can only shamefully moan that such a thing hasn't been made :/

  • And I do remember that some of the missions are absolutely ridiculously difficult. In fact I'm not sure I ever finished the last one on either Eurocorp or the Church.

  • @NostalgicGames An ode to Blade Runner perhaps? ;)

  • man, this brings back maaaaaaad memories of gettin the cheats, then nuke grenading the shit out of one area for a while, then seeing cars disappear, then reappear after a couple minutes.... then nothing beats the minigun noise, classic!!

  • what was the goal of the mission anyway?

  • @cprALexe I dont know about all the goals anymore but the main goal was to persuade and evacuate the scientist seen at 6:34

Next to that it is up to the player to do anything else like robbing the bank or something. This is not part of the mission but it can be done and is in most cases recommended.

  • rip good gaming

  • I just do not get why no one does top down games anymore? I freakin loved Fallout but they move to only 3D games, Xcom is another favorite and yet they move that to a standard 3D shooter as well, now Syndicate!? At least do some top down or turn based versions along side these new 3D shooters. I would still love to see even Crusader: No Remorse remade with updated graphics, but if they just make another shooter then i pass. Even Mario and Sonic release 2D versions every now and again.

  • @squidracerX Amen ^^

I know why they do it really kills the different game gerne's.

It's because shooters are easier and better to handle on consoles, and because they are easy to learn so everyone can handle them. Its basically aim+shoot=bang you win which means more buyers. Its not about making games anymore it's just about making money and getting the most money out of every single title.

No innovation, No variety, No complex gameplay mechanics anymore.

  • wow i remember this game. and how i used to just razor wire everything and run like hell.

  • I remember playing this on the multitap with 4-players when I was like 15, was so fun by kinda infuriating if you went off the screen of the first player.

  • hahaha!.. I remember playing this when I was a little boy :D this game had the most amazing graphics I had ever seen. I never achieved anything in the game, because I was like 5 years old and couldn't figure out what to do in the game xD After hearing about the new game Syndicate, all my memories from Syndicate wars was triggered... I didnt even know I had these memories before now! xD funny shit man.

  • this mission pissed me off sometimes

  • If we start to compare games, then I can predict 1 thing-

The new game sucks compared to the originals!

  • This game was amazing back in the day. Wait. It still is.

  • They should remaster the original Syndicate games and release them on the PC before the new Syndicate comes out in February.

  • @LogicalMan6 I wouldn't be surprised if they do it after the release of the new game. Given that it was a success. There is one thing that EA is interested in and that's money. So I think they may consider it in the future. ;)

  • @NostalgicGames Here's hoping. DId you play the originals? I never heard of them till the other day when I saw the trailer for the new one.

  • @LogicalMan6 Yeah I played them when they came out. The original Syndicate (1993) on Amiga and this one on PC (1996)

But I haven't really played them until a few years later because I was too young back then and found them too hard and did not even understand them right so I just watch my brother play them. ^^

  • i loved both syndicate and syndicate wars i wish they would make a new one

  • @pele220 they are. But as usual. Lets not be true to the series and just pop out another FPS mentality plays in

  • @Multimorten its just stupid the FPS field is already a really tough field to compete in

on the other hand there are so few good RTS games out there it really doesnt add up to me :\

there is so much to play with here to make it into a really cool RTS or maybe RPG RTS combo.... stupid game developers

  • @pele220 I agree, enough said

  • This game flew by me all the year and I did not pay any attention. Whats up with the civilians that follow you? Is that some sort of mind-control? and if so, what for?

  • @Nhordmyr The "Persuadertron" is meant to control nearby citizens. They can be used as cannon fodder (as they can pickup weapons too they also shoot your enemies) but mostly it is necessary to take control of mission critical NPC's. It works kinda like a power chargefor the persuadertron. The more civilians you have the more power it has to persuade "high grade" NPC's

Also I think it can be used to recruit new agents and scientists.

  • @NostalgicGames awesome! I dont think I will take a look at the older versions, but I'm definitely curious how the upcoming sequel "Syndicate" (ego shooter) will work out!

  • Damn this game is the shit, time to play it again.

  • Now SYNDICATE returns finally...

  • the new synd3 will be a system failure for the syndicate.

After it the syndicate will never be the same anymore.

Cause it will be another fuking 3d FPS shooter (first person)

I FUCKING HATE THE XBOX THE DAY IT CAME BY.

if they want our money, and hoping we dont copy their lil CDs that easy as with a PC (basicly to keep people dumb on the xbox, cause they cannot communicate that easy as we on the PCs)

    Xbox = gamepad.

    syndicate = needs mouse

they simple dont give us what we want.

  • @MrChatItOut

    Yeah fuck that

  • OK now try to start the video again, close your eyes and just listen to the sounds.

    Unbelievable atmosphere!

  • While shooting a flying car, try to make it stop over a light post, and destroy the post. job done, :)

  • LOL @ 2:20

    That was epic!

  • I believe it did the original full justice. Outstanding series, very engaging. I love the bombs' loud siren and the devastation they can wreak when they blow.

There was talk of Peter Molyneux considering continuing the series; one can only hope. =) This one and Dungeon Keeper deserve no less.

Such fun games and yet companies like Bullfrog and Origin die out. "What a shame." - JC Denton (you can add Ion Storm to those 2).

  • @Banzay27 Words of truth you said there ;)

It's really stupid that the most innovative game studios from the past were all closed down while those mainstream companies are the most successful today :-!

  • @NostalgicGames the big compnies bought the small ones and closed them :( capitalism at is worst

  • @Banzay27 Those EA capitaslists guys should get their killphrases activated. Laputan machines- JC Denton :P

I heard some Swedish Company is developing synd3... but just some underground rumors :O

I love your comment Mr Banzay:)

  • No cutscenes like you have there. Energy would run out waaay to fast. So does money. Almost no speech or music.

I installed itright from the CD, withoutm patches. Never found any.

  • @Busterdrag Strange, never had those errors. The cutscenes are just not there because I did not record them. And iirc the demo had no intro.

However energy runs out too fast? This normally happens if you pick up and use a weapon you have not researched yet.

Music does not work, probably because today's CD/DVD drives don't have the "play function" like the old ones. But I'm not sure about that.

And for money, just rob banks ;)

But no speech? I have no idea what can cause that.

  • I liked it...when it ran.

Every version I installed was buggy as hell.

  • @Busterdrag What do you mean with buggy? What was happening when you tried to play it? ^^

  • Awesome game ;)
