I hate to be annoying but this is NOT elcetro, electronic yes, electro no. Listen to like The Bloody Beetroots or something, they're electro. And I also think that this is one of the best songs ever written :D
@drbuk96 All music is electronic but 'electro' is a genre distinction. Electro prominently features the use of drum machines and the vocals are usually rather contorted via vocoding. A good example would be Kraftwerk.
@0mega75 they didn't really change their music style completely, only in intimacy are the songs more electro.because in their four album deal, they made it so that each member of the band gets to put their own influences into the album. intimacy features more of Matt's influences(from an interview). so they are still a guitar based band and not an electronic based band. but i agree, i hope in their next album they will have more songs similar to the older songs like tulips, two more years, etc.
I enjoy the progression of their albums. Listening to B sides like Skeleton or The Marshalls are Dead through to Compliments and tulips to this shows their talent and diversity. I think they are a great band and personally, i would like their next album to go back to their roots...
people talk a lot about how bands change their styles, like its a bad thing. I've got a lot of respect for bands who just want to be creative and try new things. Isn't that what art is?
@tonydibs007 - but there's such thing as a style change for the worse, of course some people will prefer the change, but those that fell in love with the original style are likely to not like the change and will then comment on how they don't like the change in sound. Can't really tell people to like the new stuff if they just don't.
@evanescencerawks true. Theres also style change for financial reasons. I have a lot of respect for Kele Okereke who went solo for a bit to experiment as an artist. I do like the electro house, just as much as indie rock
I was just about to say the same thing!! you completely read my mind :O LITERALLY
I want the bloc party that had banquet, hunting for witches, uniform, one more chance, two more years, helicopter and songs like that not like this :/ i really miss them and i hope they come back from haitus even this modern love was nice :)
I REALLY MISS YOU BLOC PARTY COME BACK AND THE WAY YOU WERE IN SILENT ALARM AND BACK IN THOSE DAYS!!!

Could Bloc Party possibly be an awesomer band and yes i just made up a word to describe the greatness that is the music of the british band Bloc Party.
My favorite song. The product of a band without boundaries. A band not scared to disappoint old fans, a band only concerned with progress as THEY defined it. True artists. Salute!
I never heard of these dudes until I was shopping at Pacsun I had to remember the lyrics to find these dudes and I love it this is music that should be promoted more
@0mega75 I completely agree! And I love all music so it's not that I dislike the switch to more electro sound but when I think Bloc Party, I see Tu-lips *American Accent*. hehe =)

@0mega75 I completely agree! And I love all music so it's not that I dislike the switch to more electro sound but when I think Bloc Party, I see Tulips. =)
I think that Kele has purposed the change of the genre 'cause now we can see what is doing alone...in a way this is an innovation but i prefer so much the mark left with the firsts two albums and especially the band togheter.
I literally froze up when I heard this beat... Such a bizarre club style rhythm... Great song. Better Than Heaven shares the same darkness as this one
I'll probably get some insults for this, but I find kinda weird how Bloc Party totally changed their music style : I mean they went from indie rock to electro, I'm not saying I don't like it, this song is great, but I really liked songs like Two more years, this modern love or banquet, and I feel sad they don't do such songs aanymore
electro isnt their genre now , its only an influence :D if u hear all songs on their album intimacy then u will find some songs like helicopter or banquet^^
@0mega75 shows how good they are that they can change their still and still make fooking amazing records. They will never be able to make another silent alarm, epic album from start to finish. i think Intimacy is a more mature and deep album

@0mega75 music ,people, bands changed as well as the sound they create the magic of music it grows with you songs u loved at 13 dont appeal to you anymore apparently they changed either change with them of find a new band buddy lol
@0mega75 to me, their change is more like progress; application and displaying of new skills. that's how I see it. I like it. that's a musician. I saw them once and everything you hear, they bring with them on stage and actually play it; like the repeating voice in "Mercury", idk what the instrument is but Kele sung into the mic with it on record and used a pedal to replay it. that's cool! they're still very well capable of their older style in their Side B songs.
@0mega75 ...GORDON! also played a xylophone, drum pad, and a percussion drum set mirrored of Matt's, and some other stuff. all things I thought would've just been played out of speakers; nope. they're skillful.
@0mega75 I completely agree! And I love all music so it's not that I dislike the switch to more electro sound but when I think Bloc Party, I see Tu-lips *American Accent*. hehe =)
@0mega75 yeah i noticed they totally switched to a dark techno and i liked them for their upbeat rock and a lot of awesome guitar work so when i picked this album up i was confused
i guess kele cant put all his ideas in indie... so to be really creative he moves between the genres or maybe just doesnt care about them. i think thats great and im pretty shure there will be nother more indierock like album.
