  • why the fuck are all of the comments about those two cash cows? granted, they weren't bad, but don't burn all of that time having a hard-on for them. instead, USE that time and either listen to some unnoticed artists that need to be noticed, or even make music yourself. I'm sure some of the folks at stones throw could say the same.

  • hmm. I like biggie, and I like makaveli. I dig madlib too, for the same reasons.

  • I remember Mr. T's "I Love My Mama". I pity the fool!

  • this shit almost made me cry with nostalgia

  • the hip hop encyclopedia

  • negro garka

  • dope song

  • Am I the only person in this world that loves hip hop but doesnt like biggie and pac..

  • @dplocus123 Well, it's definitely not common, lol. B.I.G. was very dope, Pac was as well but I feel like he was a bit more overrated than B.I.G. was

  • @dplocus123 Nope!

  • @asskickatron how can you not like Biggie or Tupac? even if you think they're overrated O_O

  • @Pengaploopa Ehhhh I guess I just never really got into them, I kinda don't digg their style. Biggie, I can get with but dont really listen to. I just don't feel tupac, no matter how hard I try to get into him. plus there were lots of better emcees in their time and shit so I dont see them as anything special. But influential.

  • @asskickatron I guess I can relate to that.

  • @dplocus123 nah dude.

  • Comment removed

  • @dplocus123 i meant to say that they aren't my go to's. they are too overrated in my opinion but they did change a lot of people's lives.

  • @dplocus123 probably, bro.

  • @dplocus123 BUY BIGGIES "READY TO DIE" CLASSICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!

  • @dplocus123 Yes

  • @dplocus123 Nah man you're not the only one. I like old school hip-hop but I am not a big fan of Bigge or Pac. Matter of fact, I thought that I was the only one.

  • @dplocus123 You can't if you truly like hip hop with songs like Juicy- Biggie and Keep your head up-Tupac!

  • @FINbball Any ^^

  • Comment removed

  • @FINbball Sorry. Had to edit what I said. Anyway, I started with either his Beat Konducta albums or Madvillainy. If you had to rate those albums, the best one would be Movie Scenes. In fact, get them all in order. :-) Then, if you want to get into his Jazz work, you can check out the YNQ compilation Yesterday's Universe. You might be surprised and netertained by any Madlib album you come across, really.

  • @misterl0gic Dude, what you just said is straight dumb.

  • @misterl0gic Madlib is a producer himself you dumb shit.

  • Gangsta rap didnt kill hip hop , it contributed to it. Major Record labels killed Mainstream hip hop. Gottta search through the underground to find that raw shit.

  • I think I saw my uncle in the background breakdancing.

  • my opinion more niggas in theay 30s and 40s should who spit .should spit hip hop aint no childs play ground niggas is weak timid and lack wisdom in thease days mafackas need a grown ass man to flow raw kids tryin to rap is toys to me and jay z is pussy for for his comments in rolling stone, quest love too rich ass bitch made niggas mid life crissis ass niggas erk me .nigga iam grown and the hood is still the hood . iam veda any thoughs ask me .and oh yea iam a god

  • Gangstah rap didn't kill hip hop, hip ho just went underground as the Gangstah mc's killed each other off, just like the man intended.

  • DOPE YALL NUFF SAID

  • Man! Things what use to represent hip-hop was spray-paints, a boom box and Adidas sneakers; now it's sex, 'bling' and drugs ¬_¬! Big up to Madlib for making this, though =D!

  • @23sirhc

That's Afrika Bambatta, founder of the Zulu Nation and a true hip-hop pioneer. Look up "Planet Rock" and "Looking For The Perfect Beat".

  • Does anyone know the sample dropped at like 48 sec.?

  • @cowboydan246

This entire track is sampled from "Special Category" by the Roe-O-Tation. It used to be linked to this song, search for it on youtube.

  • This song is taking it back to the early years of hip hop. Appreciate the history lesson!

  • This video makes me sad everytime I see it. Cause I know life & hip hop will never be like this again.

  • @donself78 dont be sad man! Just support the real hip-hop!

  • @yesimnative77 I still do support real hip hop but when cats like Guru, Jay Dee, Nujabes, Baatin, ODB & plenty others are gone & Drake, Young Money & even my wifey Ciara is rappin u can't help but to feel a little sad. But life goes on Right. Well let me get back to listen to Pete Rock & CL Smooth & hope they can mend their differences. PEACE

  • Sick with the pen.

  • I also like the editing on the video too. Great timing.

  • This should be an educational video into hip hop culture.

  • ill shoutouts good beat. rip subroc.

  • the last time Madlib touched the SP1200...

  • word Madlib could have went on for a day with this joint.HIP HOP

  • best track ever for reals

  • one of the best songs

  • whats the sample

  • Sample is from "An experimented terror" by the Greek Fountains. I met two of the members from the band.

  • Damn... wish this song was longer.

  • Look at you guys, your going on and on about the "good old days" and seemingly forgetting that this track was made just a few years ago. I feel the same as everyone else, but let's also celebrate and support the good hip-hop being made today, tracks by Madlib as well as others, rather than weakly lamenting the past. Hip-hop fans have enormous power to change hip-hop. If all we do is whine about the past then we could stunt the growth of the genre and everything will stagnate.

  • @HalSamuel

lol. its a good argument (maybe..), but the track itself is a tribute to the old skool and the real hiphop, so of course thats gonna be the topic of comments.

By the way, "stunt the growth of the genre and everything will stagnate" already happened. the only reason real hiphop can still be made is because those making it still believe in it, and are not really in it for the caaaaaaaaaaash maaaaaaaaaaaan.

  • Well put!

  • @HalSamuel no one cares dadanks

  • @HalSamuel I suggest all of you who feel the way Halsamuel describes check out the track "Fear Not of Man" by Mos Def. Peace

  • @HalSamuel

eh this would be nice if it made sense. we do celebrate and support good hiphop made nowadays, but the industry fell off years ago in general. "if all we do is whine [...] everything will stagnate"? what planet you live on?

  • @HalSamuel This music had been dead for years dude, the mainstream killed it off, I look at vids like this and it almost makes me tearful. The conditioned kids of today know or understand nothing about this great era.

  • @HalSamuel ahhh...just think...you had a girl you loved...she went out with some friends and they turned her into a trick for money. now she wants to charge you, making you pay for fraudulent products.....how would you feel?

you need to listen to Common's "I Used to Love HER"....then you would understand how strongly some love this music called hip hop.

What stunts the growth of hip hop is not the true fans. It is the radio, video and entertainment shows that have devalued hip hop.

  • @HalSamuel i feel ya kid nobody got a time machine but c.e.r.n .so we cant go back and a lot of niggas to day is raw as fuck but dudes who grew up listenen to all the above mcs and djs dont support the new raw underground eara i loved mantronic as did my niggas but only one of them could tell me who el-p or cannibal ox was.look god after the wu tang eara all the real heads said fuck hip hop all they wanna do is reminisce about the 90s well nigga its almost 2012

  • @HalSamuel

people are also talking about the good ole days because that's what this track is about. listing all the old school guys....and then it makes us viewers be like "oh yeahh!". you know?

  • @HalSamuel thanks mom

  • @HalSamuel Finally someone that makes some fuckin sence..

  • The days of QUALITY hip hop.

  • why couldnt i have been around during those days!

  • @abbazabba626 You were.

  • It's Not A Thing Thats Put In Stock And Then Taken From Inventory!!!

  • wow i remember all of that...home in n.y. 72...baby
