  • The propagandist who made this commercial, Larry McCarthy, is being paid millions of dollars by Romney- Oh, I'm sorry, Romney's SUPER PAC, big difference- to make distortionist attack ads. Romney's PAC can pay McCarthy the most because corporations like to give Romney the most money, he's there Go-To Guy.

  • What was Dukaka thinking? What an idiot!

  • @steve41557 my old neighbor used to be the sister of the person who willie horton murdered. it's kind of sad and funny at the same time. i'm black but i see nothing wrong with this ad. if someone wants to be president of the USA he needs to be properly vetted and examined!!!!

  • Common Sense vs Liberalism… It seems never ending…

  • i dont see how this is racist

  • @xraidedlok all races kill and rape.. oh no a black guy killed and raped someone.. big deal it happens everyday.. white people do it too...stfu with the racist shit everyone is racist i dont care what you say

  • @xraidedlok true. but how would you feel if willie horton raped your little sister, it would be a different story than. the thing is he shouldn't have been released in the first place.

  • @xraidedlok Apparently you're not allowed to show a criminal's picture unless he's white. Otherwise it's "racist." Like everything and anything these days...especially facts, statistics, and plain reality.

  • @PumpingSmashkins yeah we get all the shit.. but we cant say anything... and its funny because african americans still dont understand that black people sold them to us.. sigh. and white people went through way worse shit in the medievil times and shit.. whites and asians but you dont see us cryin about it 24/7

  • This is so racist. (Scary black man meme.) Dukakis ftw.

  • I think Dukakis would have made a great president. Look what we got from Bush senior and H W Bush!!!

  • @BOXCHEVYBOY350 bush senior was okay bush jr was an idot. how would you feel if willie horton raped your little sister, it would be a different situation then

  • @BOXCHEVYBOY350 - At least I wasn't raped by some murdurer Dukaka would have released on a bogus pass. I'm grateful for all the people that were not raped and murdered by these felons on furloughs.

  • bush has "released" something much more dangerous and criminal: the offspring he has produced and who also raise to power

  • How would ducockis feel if his loved one was raped by some convicted con freed from prisoner by the governor - what an idiot!! I'm soooo glad he lost the election

  • the good thing about the death penalty is they won't kill again.

  • All Caucasians should google “THE NEGRO A BEAST”

OR IN THE IMAGE OF GOD" and read the book. Many are ignorant of the facts and have gotten totally brainwashed by the politically correct establishment.

  • Did they get Horton's permission before using his mug and listing his extracurricular activities?

  • Attention all youtubers, there were 3 items that doomed Dukakis chance for the Presidency, 1st was the Willie Horton ad which DID indeed show his photo when it first aired on TV , the 2nd was when he was taped riding in a army tank wearing that stupid Beetle Baily hemlet ,and 3rd was during the FIRST presidential debate when he was ask by CNN anchor Bernard Shaw ,if his wife were raped and killed how would he react ,& his response was not anger but ahh schucks,it made him look weak & foolish !

  • "Free Willie"

    Barack Hussein Obama

  • I once read that it was Al Gore that originally bought up the Horton story, is that correct?

  • @capucchan8 he did invent the internet

  • @gopconservative78 yeah I know

  • @capucchan8 Yes, because Gore supported the death penalty and Dukakis didn't.

  • @Mikey77B I see

  • "Lock everybody up, guilty or not. Don't give anybody a trial. Even suspicion is good enough for me. Lock all Americans up. America is a fucking joke. We went from, "It is better to let ten guilty men free than to convict one innocent man" to "it is better to convict ten innocent men than to let one man free." Even when we falsely imprison people, the state inadequately compensates the wrongly accused. And there are still people here that aren't allowed access to lawyers. America-The Ugly." +1

  • My votes goes to Horton.

  • I'm black and I don't think that this is technically racist. I do think that Bush knew of the racial impact of having an intimidating looking black murderer in his ad and used this to his advantage. If he's black and he did it, then it's fair game. Is it classy and does it represent how model presidential candidate would conduct a campaign, NO. Is it fair game, Yes. Using less than honorable tactics never prevails. This is why he didn't get a second term.

  • @ronpolkthedirector Bush actually never approved of this ad himself.

  • @DaMasterBigJ It doesn't matter if he did or not. It happened under his leadership and he did not stop it from being used because of the racial aspect, he chose to use it, or allow it to be used for his advantage.

  • this is racist why? because they showed his face. I don't care what color he was the point was that dukakas was weak on crime

  • Lock everybody up, guilty or not. America-The Ugly.

  • Comment removed

  • Of course, none of Bush's harsher laws deterred crime. Thanks, statism.

  • lmao... ever heard of the fallacy called appeal to force?

  • Man, talk about aggressive

  • campaign adviser to bush around this time? recent pbs documentary? anyone know what that man`s name is, was, anyone. anyone at all?

  • @MRBORGHEAD Lee Atwater. He started work under Reagen and later Bush, and helped mastermind the "Southern Strategy" that drove southern whites away from the democratic party on the basis of race. Look him up, he's basically a proto-neocon.

  • there was this pbs documentary a while back about the political adviser to the elder bush. he was a master of this sort of thing

  • The two candidates in the 1988 presidential election were even lamer than the two in the one twenty years later! The Libertarian Party has to get its act together and do more to become a viable third party.

  • @hatmap "libertarian" and "Viable" together in one sentence.

  • SCARY BLACK MAN BE AFRAID OF BLACK MAN HE'S SCARY VOTE BUSH HE PROTECT YOU FROM BLACK MAN

  • hëhê_àny_gUÿs_wañt_tO_chAt_wïth_mÊ

  • Propaganda.

  • LIberals are such pussies.

  • @PunkAttitude8V Such the politician you are. What a whimsical statement to make on Youtube.

  • @jesuisnate226 Shut up loser. LIberals are too compassiontate to evil serial killlers.

  • @PunkAttitude8V I say again. Propaganda.

  • Racial priming to the fullest.

  • Is Willie Horton still in prison?

  • @TheRattyrattyrat

It isn't Dukakis' fault the attack ad is bullshit -_-

  • @HipHopGuardian

You mean on my channel lol

    No that's Wiz Khalifa lmao

  • @HipHopGuardian Yes, this ad from 12 years ago is bullshit. I hope Dukakis gets a fair run next time around...

  • @mikemccanon 12 years? You're still in kindergarten, right?

  • @LocoGroove The 2 and the 1 are very close together on the keyboard. I'm well aware of how long ago 1988 was. 32 years.

  • @HipHopGuardian Why is it bullshit???

  • yeah, this would make me want to vote FOR Dukakis, negative political ads just make me suspicious of what exactly his opponent's standing for in the first place, like they have something to hide... to the point they don't want to talk about themselves in their own political campaign

  • I bet Willie Horton was laughing like Berserker from Borderlands when he got outta jail.

  • god really punished lee atwater for this.

  • Vote Sideshow Bob for Mayor.

  • @stephentaaffe ............Yes it was. I remember seeing his face. I distinctly remember seeing his face during the commercial.

  • Ronald Reagan was the first to introduce the furlough program in california! A teacher and a police were killed under this program....and no one mentioned it!

  • @quetou unlike Dukakis, Reagan DIDNT allow MURDERERS to be a part of the program

  • Huckabee is baptist devil. I don't trust that smooth talking simulacrum.

  • How do you like them apples, Huckabee?

  • Yep thats what happens when you are a moderate who is liberal on crime. If Huckabee would have been more conservative, then those four lakewood police officers would still be alive. Liberalism kills.

  • huckabee in 2012! oops.

  • looks like the willie horton ad came true after all.

  • now Huckabee has the same problem...

  • The Horton ad the first one was done right after the murderer killed his victims by a anti-furlough group that came into existence in the 70's. The issue was brought up bby them and by ONE aL GORE JR. IN THE DEMOCRAP CONVENTION. sMEARING LIEFTIST LIARS FABRICATING SHIOT COVERING UP THEIR CRIMES AND WHINING ABOUT IMAGINARY WACISM WHENEVER YOU REFUTE THEIR BULLSHIT AND THE RACIST PRO BACK MRUDERER AGENDA.

  • This is the work of Roger Ailes. Now... he does it 24/7 on cable.

  • Let me get this straight, Corporation8MyBaby:

You are comparing Willie Horton, a homicidal maniac who was let out of prison to Barack Obama, our 44th President?

And you think it is wrong that Ailes exposes both the corruption of the Obama administration and the corruption of the former Governor or MA, Micheal Dukakis?

BTW: Ailes had nothing to do with this ad, he worked on the "Revovling Door" ad, you misinformed tool of corporate WHAM.

  • In reverse order - from Wiki: "Bush's campaign manager, Lee Atwater, predicted that "by the time this election is over, Willie Horton will be a household name."* Media consultant Roger Ailes remarked "the only question is whether we depict Willie Horton with a knife in his hand or without it."* ** 2. What corruption of Obama? Name factual corruption (not assertions of it). (cont.)

  • More Wikipedia nonsense just like the phony Limbaugh quotes. BTW, Atwater got the phony quote treatment too, but Dems were smart in falsely attributing things to him bc he's dead and can't defend himself.

True or false: Michael Dukakis is white and Willie Horton is a murderer.

I think it's sick when ignorant white people say it's racist to show a picture of a murderer who happens to be black. Considering MA politics, maybe Ailes should've shown a pic of Ted Kennedy, a white murderer.

  • Now let ME get this straight. Are you saying Wikipedia has a liberal bias & engages in phony quotes? Judging from your use of language & clever use of strawmen I'm guessing you are too smart for that. How do you think it helps America or your "team" to defend this obvious use of racism or the use of it today on Fox? Are you also defending Nixon's "southern strategy?" We need two good parties, this tactic is part of why only 19% of Americans will self identify as GOP.

  • Wikipedia is editable. The "Southern strategy" is a public education myth. Look for the book "The End of Southern Exceptionalism" by Richard Johnston and Byron Shafer.

You can't site anything racist from Fox News, but you are a racist for comparing our President to Willie Horton and then saying he is a "chimp".

You must be from the Robert Byrd wing of the Democratic Party.

  • 3. Is that how your brain works? Thinking folks understand that I am comparing fear mongering techniques of Ailes then & now. He's still using fear of black skin. Fear "the other" aka Xenophobia. Fox's Specialty. The choice of Willie Horton in the 80s was effective for those reasons; the media was full of "urban thuggery" back then. Today Fox says "was reverend Wright unavailable?" or "reparations" or "obama is a racist". Same technique updated. Now, are you being clever or racist aeuiono?

  • Personally, I was afraid of Willie Horton, not because he's black, but because he had a strange habit of slicing people to bits.

But "progressives" like you can only see race.

You judge people by the color of their skin. That's why someone today saying "hey, maybe we should try to reduce the deficit instead of quadrupling it" is called a "racist", even if said person is black.

  • aeuiono/HA! AWESOME! Jump off your celebration of black president/black criminal comparisons when I corner you;understood, but the DEFICIT? Really? Now u have to stop parroting Fox& think for yourself. Both the NAT. Budget & Nat.Trade Deficits were sent soaring by Reagan& Bush sr. & all but ELIMINATED by Clinton. Then ur Chimp "W" broke all records. We can cut it in ½ if ur side is ready to end the oil wars. We can *eliminate it* if we properly tax the MEGAwealthy. Still care about the deficit?

  • Presidents don't pass budgets, Congress does.

Democrats had the House for 50 years and the Senate for the majority of that time too.

Then Republicans swept into power in 1994, cleaned up the mess and forced Clinton to make cuts.

Our current depression started in late 2007, about a year into the Democrats 2006 victory.

BTW, Bush is a liberal: Obama copies Bush's economic plans (bail out corps) and his foreign policy (refuse to send a surge). Only difference is domestics.

  • It's too bad their is no way to make sure these video's are true. The REAL ad did not have the head shot of Horton. It was added for this video. The leftest media are socialist pigs.

  • The original had the photo. Don't spin. It's an important part of history that Lee Atwater & Roger Aisles made this choice. I'm glad that your side agrees that it's going too far. I'm disturbed that in admitting it you deny history. We need a strong right wing. Let go of your teabags & embrace a winning strategy of leadership. Also learn what "socialist" means. It means the Military for 1 &the servicemen in my family don't appreciate being called pigs just 'cause they get paid by the GOVERNMENT.

  • I had to laugh about your comment about the military and my use of socialist pigs. The military does not select the form of government. They follow orders from up the chain. I'm former military and at no time did I have anything close to any say over what the government did. To compare what I said to my in some way deriding our military is a big stretch. To put down the people who are labeled "teabaggers" is just a lame way to comdemn people who care and are letting that be known.

  • Ah but you are thoughtful, so do you see that we enjoy protection of the finest military in history because of our taxes? It is, by definition, a socialist service, just as are police, fire, libraries & schools. Social responsibility makes a good society. That goes back to ancient Greece where graduated tax rates were invented. But Ben Franklin & Thomas Payne removed the emperor from the mix. We are our own kings. Together we must debate & arrive at policy for the good of all: social democracy.

  • I don't think any resonable person, left or right, will say we should have no taxes. It's how you tax and how you sepnd those taxes so the people benefit. Not just certain parts of the population either. It's like this ObamaCare. There is no way to do it without taxing. If you listen to Obama and his minions, they will pay a good part by cutting down on the fraud, etc. If it is so easy to cut the fraud and abuse, why aren't they doing it now? Do you see Obama talking to the right? Not!

  • Lastly, Cuba, North Korea, Vietnam, Venezuela, etc. are a few socialist countries that come to mind. The Governments run the show. How well is that working for the people? If the Democrats really wanted to help the "poor" they would be getting them off relying on the government. This country ran quite well under the Constitution until political agendas got in the way. Where do all the countries of the world come to for help? Socialism isn't working elsewhere. Why would it here?

  • I'll back off saying the photo was not there. I can't back it up with fact anymore than you can that it was there. I'll take your word. I'm quite conservative and will be happy to "embrace a winning strategy" when I see someone I can trust and that also has a strategy that makes sense and is within the realm of reality, not just talk that sounds good. I've not given up on my country yet. Obama has not yet won and the "silent majority needs to keep getting louder.

  • The majority wants Obama. We are relieved not to have a liar-in-chief who follows a warped frustrated old Cheney. We like Obama 'cause he is smart & a public servant. Yet we educated liberals fear for a nation without a good, strong, intelligent, compassionate right wing. These teabaggers & their transnational business underwriters are not what our founders wanted. A real right wing, that keeps our military strong & our spending down keeps us balanced. I look forward to u taking your party back.

  • Bush kicked DooCockus butt with that ad :-)

  • This video has absolutely been altered. I remember this campaign and the drama surrounding it but Willie Horton's picture was NEVER used in the commercial!

  • @Dana8780 The original ad had Willie Horton's picture. After this was pulled, the Bush campaign dropped new versions without the picture.

  • THIS VIDEO HAS BEEN ALTERED!!! The original never showed Willie Horton. As a liberal I find this offensive. Tell the truth and we will win, lie like this and we lose. My God MSNBC, haven't you learned your lesson yet about using doctored video? Man I am ashamed to think that this is the kind of crap we accuse the republicans of and here we are doing it. Who is the brain child behind this stunt?

  • Read the fine print at the bottom of the ad:

"Political Message Paid by National Security PAC. Not Authorized by Any Candidate or Candidates Committee."

This ad was not made, paid for, or endorsed by the Bush Campaign.

  • This was not the Bush campaign's national ad. The national ad did not show any photos of Horton, it showed a revolving door at a prison, with convicts walking around it. The "convicts" in the ad were all white.

  • Not surprisingly, never returned to prison. Horton, while on the loose in Maryland in 1987, raped a woman and was thrown back in jail. The event was used by Bush to portray Dukakis as weak on crime. Black rights leaders felt the ad, which prominently featured Horton's scary face, linked crime, murder, and rape to being black. I think Republicans just wanted to link all of that to being a Democrat.

    Those bastards

  • This political ad which ran during the 1988 Bush-Dukakis presidential race is the most famous commercial on the countdown. Not only did it spark some serious racial controversy, but the subject of the commercial, Willie Horton, is now synonymous with dirty political ads. In 1974, Horton stabbed and killed a man in Massachusetts, was sentenced to life in prison without parole, and was released on some absurd weekend program that allowed inmates to leave.

  • Joeybsmooth - wake up!

What do we need to take our country back from? From an administration who wants to re-make it into their own media-created image; from an inexperienced (but slick-as-hell) harvard lawyer who thinks he can steamroll everybody & get away with it. C'mon brother - enough with the nonsense...

  • Those who have nazi flags in their closets used this opportunity to bring them out- to praise their hero indirectly

  • Richard Nixon was in political no-man's land from 1960 until he took office in Jan of 1969. His comeback was mainly based on his (R) fundraising efforts, where any mention of civil rights would have doomed him politically. So my question is where or in what position EXACTLY did Nixon support civil rights to the point he recieved praise and a letter from MLK? MLK died April 1968. BTW Cries of "reverse" discrimination is wrong..compared to what "direct" discrimination? Learn diversity & equality.

  • And who says Fox News isn't racist when you have the brain child for this ad, Roger Ailes, running the show and giving him an unlimited platform to spew his hatred for the entire world to watch and hear.

  • Obama did not praise Farrakhan. I take it you just read e-mails about Obama book , and did not read it for yourself . Also look at the number of white people that have spoken on behalf of Wright . It is funny that you don;t think this crap is racist but you think Obama is .

  • That is called a Strawman argument, agruging something that I did not say . .. and how is Obama a racist ... It is funny when people like you say that .

  • Give you a break . There was a clear change in alignment all you have to do is look at the Strom Thurmond. Next look at all the racist people at the tea parties .. and the are mostly republicans. Look up what Nixon said about black people .. and Look up LBJ who got the ball moving with civil rights.

  • I'm black and I went to the tax day tea party in Lansing, Michigan. No one shouted any racial slurs at me, no one threatened or disrespected me, and I felt safer there than I would at any of the local night clubs at midnight. So if the tea party goers are so racist why wouldn't they shout down a black man who's walking amongst them? Or shout down several black speakers that spoke at these tea parties?

  • If they where not racist why would that have racist signs.

Tell me Tea Party goer why go to a tea party now . What do you want your country back from.

  • What racist signs? I never saw any racist signs to the tea party I went to. If they're so racist why would they accept me into their numbers instead of shouting racial slurs at me and trying to get me to leave?

But as far as that "take my country back" thing goes. Why don't you tell me. You people were shouting it years ago when Bush was in office. And if memory serves John Kerry used it as a campaign slogan.

  • If don't no of the racist signs at these events you are lying or being willfully ignorant. Because you you most likely miss the slurs just like you missed the signs .

As for part two . As normal a non-answer for one of you tea-party nuts .

  • Why did you not answer my question. I want to know what you are protesting . And more over I am calling your bluff that there were SEVERAL black speakers .

  • If you want to call my bluff then all you gotta do is search for Lloyd Marcus, Alfonzo Rachel, and various other people that spoke at various tea parties. (trust me they aren't the white only conventions that the MSM portrays it to be.)

But you ask what I was protesting? Being called a right wing extremist by my DHS for being a soldier and a libertarian. I'm protesting government motors and 32 czars. I'm protesting Kenneth Gladney getting beat down in St.Louis. What were you protesting?

  • Oh so it was not many people speaking at one event their where just token sprinkled here and there. Funny you protest for your rights but hate weed.

Bush had more Czars than Obama , if you look at the video of what happen of Kenneth Gladney. It seems that he was giving just as much as he was getting . Bail out happens before Obama, and people complained that with these bail out came no oversight . Now that over sight comes with Bail outs you are still not happy.

  • That's the problem. I don't want bailouts for anybody. I don't give a rat's ass what party did what or who was president when what went down. I'm just sick and tired of the shenanigans from both sides of the isle. You're basing your argument because you think I support bailouts under the republicans but not the democrats. That couldn't be farther from the truth.

  • It is funny to me .. These things were not happening under Bush, but they are happening now . Obama has not added ONE tax to people.. yet people blame him for their taxes. People like Joe Wilson a Neo-confederate,literally, gets support for calling Obama a liar while he signed a bill to given Illegals Health Care.

I was like you once, i was a republican until wake up and saw them for who they really are . You stand side by side with people that carry signs tell Obama to go back to Africa.

  • Willie Horton hears a ho.

  • @DukeNorwood and then he shut her up good >_>;

  • Europe is going through this stage right now. The judges are letting complete animals out on the streets (99% muslim immigrants of course) that rape and kill only days after being released. Deja Vu all over again.

  • I have no idea how liberals continue to bring this up with a straight face. The man was A FUCKING CRIMINAL, for godssakes. Shouldn't you attack the politician that let him out?

  • As a "liberal" I sort of agree but for different reasons....It was Al Gore who originally made an issue of Willie Horton when he was running against Dukakis....The GOP simply repackaged the idea in this nauseating commercial...

  • The nauseating thing is they let the murderer out on parole to he could have a weekend of rape.

  • What the hell did I just see, a blipvert?

  • Horton hears a Who.

  • Crap. 8 seconds long. where's the rest.

  • How is this ad racist 0_0 :O ... !!!???

  • It's hard to show a picture of a murderer or rapist that isn't black. Most are. The DOJ has all of the statistics. If you disagree, complain to your god for making mathematics incorrect.

  • good job, you answered the what

    now answer the why

  • If you can't figure it out for yourself, you should ask politely.

  • BOO effing HOO! You puppets make me sick. "Oh no, its racist" you indignantly shout. How bout holding Dukakis vicariously liable for the deaths of the people that this animal murdered when he was on his little vacation from the clink.

Idiots. Is there anything Michael Moore says that you wont believe as gospel truth?

  • Politics and crime, they're the same thing...-Don Lucchese, The Godfather Part 3. That was a short advert.

  • watching frontline on wned right now, a documentary on lee atwater and saw this ad.. this one is bad, but it doesn't seem as offensive as the prison revolving door commercial. well maybe both of them are on equal levels on racism... but this documentary is awesome. do you guys think campaigns were as dirty as they are now?

  • Out of curiosity, would anyone tell me why this ad is considered racial? The way I see it, asking why they didn't show a white man just supports the idea that this was a rampant problem. ie, They could have picked from any number of people who committed capital crimes while involved in this program.

(This is coming from a liberal.)

  • @Fox

    Altwater basically admitted it.

He disclosed in prior years that the 80s Southern strategy was subtle and abstract with a clear intent in getting racially motivated whites to vote for them.

  • Fair enough.

  • Yes, I am aware of the "Southern Strategy", but I don't think this is a good example of it. Even if it was his intent, he didn't do a good job of it, in my opinion.

  • I guess it worked well just as when Clinton ran ads in 1996 saying if Dole won churches would burn, the Klan would ride again and blacks would be lynched by those dastardly republicans.

  • now when did clinton ever insinuate that?

  • The Dems did the same thing, trying to get racially motivated non-whites to vote for them.

  • I agree 100%. I also am labeled a "Liberal" by everyone that knows me. As fas as I'm concerned, they showed a CRIMINAL. He happens to be black. Big deal. I've heard about the "Williw Horton Ad" for years, and only got to see it now (don't know how I missed it at the time). Calling this a racist ad only sets people up for a "Boy who cried wolf" scenario when racism really is obvious.

  • If they didn't want the ad to have a racial component, they wouldn't have put up photographs.

There's not a word--not a second of these political advertisements that doesn't get vetted and focus-grouped all to hell. Not even in '88.

They knew what they were doing.

  • Yeah, pictures are racist!!

  • I'm just saying it wasn't an accident.

They knew the ad would raise a race issue for some people, and they proceeded anyway because they saw some benefit in it.

    That's politics, I suppose.

  • The benefit is pointing out the utter foolishness of Dukakis, he let a murderer out of prison for the weekend, and it cost two people their lives.

The whole "racism" angle was cooked up to distract people from that terrible fact. It worked, twenty years later we are still debating it.

  • In fairness to Dukakis, he neither created the furlough program nor administered it.

He didn't PERSONALLY let Horton out of jail; an administrative tribunal did.

That said, I'll grant that it's a dumb idea, at least in the case of murderers.

  • Dukakis vetoed a bill that denied furloughs to first degree murderers.

  • Which was a revelant issue, to say the least. Al Gore made an issue out of it, too, sans Willie Horton ads.

  • Its just another attempt the white man trying to benefit from the suffering of a black man

  • If Willie Horton has suffered , he deserves it.

  • was the canidate racist?

  • wouldnt suprise me if they were.wouldnt suprise me if bush was.but in know for certain ronald reagan was a racist to the core.

  • 'cuse me, but wasn't it the REPUBLICANS who fought the Confederates? Wasn't it the DEMOCRATS who put in Jim Crow laws? Wasn't it DEMOCRAT President Woodrow Wilson who segregated the Federal Government? Wasn't it Democrat FDR who paid white southern land owners to not grow crops, while black sharecroppers starved? Wasn't it REPUBLICANS who voted for the Civil Rights act of 1964, and DEMOCRATS who voted against it? Wasn't Martin Luther King Jr. a REPUBLICAN? Gosh, how ignorant.

  • You expect me to vote for the lesser of two evil its more like the evil of two lesser. thats like saying man chose your oppressor. pick one Charles mansion or Hannibal lector. You want pepsi, coke, sprite,or dr pepper. They all messed up none of them better. Crack is like a democrat, cocaine like a republican, marijuana is the green, independent party same government. You think your vote count? Ask them people in Florida when they throw they shit out

  • Bush was supposed to be a conservative but he made the government bigger then any liberal ever did. I wonder Why? Because he was irrelevant. He was only in office to give more power to Obama sell out his own mama.

  • Bush compromised with the Democrats to get the war/national security support he wanted, but to give the Democrats the social programs they wanted. Same compromise made by Ron Reagan.

  • The party values have flipped around in the past few decades, man.

  • The Democrats are still the party of the Plantation. Their particular ire is launched at anyone of "their" pet groups who strays from the plantation.

More Republicans voted for the 1964 civil rights act than Democrats. Democrats continue to push dependency and welfare. Republicans not so much.

  • There was a party alignment change in the 60s. And MLK supported JFK.

  • That's only half the argument. It's worth noting that most people who list the curious histories of the two defacto ruling parties in our country follow up with a statement that goes something like "It's weird and I wonder how it is that the two parties flipped."

If one claims to take pride in the list of accomplishments you list, then the modern Republican party has to infuriate and shame any modern Republican.

Frankly both modern parties are an obvious sham and largely identical today.

  • Jackie Robinson was a Republican, too. And yes, the Democratic Party was the party of slavery.

  • fuck willie horton, and all black men like him (and all men like him, period.)

  • Anytime a Republican ad is effective against a liberal it's deemed either racist or dirty. Liberals could care less that Horton murdered and raped they were mad at Bush (even though his campaign had nothing to do wit this ad) becuase he was distracting the the public from the "real issues", after all what could be a more phony issue than murderers who when let out on a weekend pass from the Governor rape and murder again?

  • Willie Whoreton.

  • what has race got to do with it? he committed murder and rape after getting a weekend pass by the democrats.

bush had every right to run this ad if it called into question the democrats stand on law & order.

  • Everyone knows this was a racist add

  • Video is messed up.

  • Considering that I'm black myself, all you who think it has to do with some race that forced him to do this can stop

  • Oh I didn't know the color of his skin was important until all of you started pointing the racist finger. Hypocrites.

  • yeah.... spakdiddy... if you are a first degree murderer be happy your alive his name should have been

    "piece of shit"

  • the video is corrupted. it only goes for 8 seconds

  • This demonstrates how racist some republicans are, or how low they are sometimes willing to go to win elections. The guy's name is William Horton, he was known as William and he always went by William Horton. But they used the Willie name in the ads because of its African American connotations. Shameful.

  • Gee I guess you are personal friends with William. He is a criminal but the Dems forgive him, you need to move to Russia you fool.
