I was into this video for about 3 minutes and I wanted to puke. This video has brain washing written all over it. The guys talking don't even look like they believe the shit their spewing! Unreal!
Not Only can I not believe, I would never want to believe because the price for this being true is much too high. Stop preaching your god and READ YOUR BIBLE. Do you want to spend eternity worshipping at the feet of a deity like that? No promise of heaven and pleasure, just more of the same endless bullshit without the good bits that make life worth living. That [price is too high and the reward is as nothing. Scenario I see: Eternity in Hell or an eternity in actual Hell.
Mankind has had thousands of gods, spirits and whathaveyou. That "god in heaven' would watch over the evolution of civilizations, literacy, art, Mathematics and beginnings of philosophy and science.. Greek, Egyptian and Chinese already developing. And appear in an illiterate backwards locale, be happy with his religion being subversions of preexistant ones AND.. then hand over his power to clergy as 'what you hold true on earth...' Plagues, Murder and endless testing/insecurity.
"If there is no God: I can do what I wanna do. When I wanna do it."
Now that is scary. I hope that religious people don't all think like that, or would act upon those lines of reasoning. I like to think that people are better than that.
Dismissing the fossil record because they're scared of death and going with the completely made up version of history might provide comfort, but being scared of reality doesn't keep it from happening.
Matter is the only thing that can be examined SCIENTIFICALLY!! A kid asks why we're here and you tell him that an invisible man put us here to see if we can be good, and if we are, he'll punish us if we're bad, but being good means believing everything in this ridiculous book. A careful study of the fossil record reveals how winged reptiles evolved into birds. I'm not an expert, but learning and interpreting that can take a long time. Tuning in to a couple of morons
Any one who listens and takes these people seriously are completely deluded I have never heard a bigger pile of nonsense coming from any one mouths. If these people are to be taken seriously then we need to halt all scientific research on the history of the earth and of the universe because they seem to have all the answers. God created it all and thats all we need to know. People like this are dangerous and need to be ignored. Thanks for posting.
The ultimate false dichotomy. If you reword what they say, it's basically 'since science cannot provide an answer, we will have to assume that the Christian God created it all.' It's logically fallacious and by no means proves the existence of God.
I'll quite clearly state that I'm not only atheist, but anti-theist in the context that I believe religion is socially harmful. By no means does this represent atheism in general, since it's a branch of beliefs that's not an ideology.
Hmmm, everyone who believes as these guys do should completely disavow ALL of the scientific discoveries made by atheistic scientists. When you get sick, pray to be cured; don't rely on modern medicine.
@ultraollie If you were sick, you'd pray to get better as opposed to taking medicine? If faith-healing worked, there would be a statistical anomaly that skews towards believers of a particular religion. This has never occurred. There's cause and effect chains that can be directly observed by taking medicine - you're far more likely to get better if you take it.
The suppression of medical advancements is one of the biggest reasons against theism. Please justify your stance.
@RatherCynical No, I'd use modern medicine. I am saying that those who think that atheists are in denial of the truth shouldn't use the discoveries that mostly atheist scientists come up with. I think that you completely misunderstood my remark.
@ultraollie Could you explain how "When you get sick, pray to be cured; don't rely on modern medicine," can be interpreted any other way than to deny modern medicine in favour of prayer? I don't quite understand your assertion, could you say it in a way that's more comprehensible?
My current interpretation of what you're saying is; 'Atheists who deny the existence of God shouldn't use discoveries scientists who happen to be atheist would come up with.'
@ultraollie Oh wait, I think I understand you better now.
"Those who believe in the existence of God should carry on their practices of relying on faith healing, and see how far it gets them." You were right, I misunderstood your remark
“What happens when we're dead? The irony is that all our questions will be answered after we die. We spend our whole life trying to figure out the truth and the only way we'll find out what it is, is to get hit by a bus. And the only comfort that religion offers is that God is driving that bus.” John Ryman
Bible =/= science. I'm sorry, believe whatever makes you a happy person, if it gives you hope or pleasure then that's fine. But as scientists, we don't use old literature as proof of anything. Evolutionists doesn't state Darwin as proof of a theory, we use methodically gathered data, and we have so much data. When we look at the data it points to one thing, that life on our planet has changed slowly over time, it has evolved, every single piece of data we have shows us that. That is the science.
@thor123422 Regardless, have you ever considered the Occult explanations? Matter emanates from energy, and energy from Mind. Mind is the matrix from which all that exists springs, threefold in appearance but one in substance.
There is no scientific evidence, no philosophical reasoning, no logic, that points to a blind random and unintelligent universe. In fact, all the evidence, reasoning and logic point to the contrary. The reason you atheists dont believe is two reasons. 1. Hatred for religion. 2. Stupidity/denial/ignorance.
@Alkhemist10 Can you please give me an experiment, logical argument, or philosophical reasoning that would allow us to differentiate a designed universe and a non designed one?
@thor123422 The human mind cannot operate or conceive of anything outside of the universal framework of which he exists. The universe cannot produce things it does not contain. Where does intelligence and consciousness come from if the universe itself is not intelligent?? It is impossible to produce WHAT IT DOES NOT CONTAIN. The microcosm is in direct accordance with the macrocosm. The Law of inertia PROVES that there is an invisible intelligent force that drives PASSIVE matter. There MUST be.
@Alkhemist10 Intelligence and consciousness has no known cause as of this moment. However a blank spot in our knowledge DOES NOT point to god, it points nowhere because we have no information.
The law of inertia proves that matter and energy interact with each other, nothing more, nothing less. Any inference about god from inertia is, at best, grasping at straws, and at worst the ramblings of one who doesn't how to deduce an implication.
@Alkhemist10 That's perhaps one of the most blatant misrepresentations of atheism I've seen. Atheism doesn't assert that the interactions within the universe is 'blind and random'. We accept that we don't know, and we're okay with that idea. The reason 'we don't know' doesn't justify the stance 'God done it', unless you've eliminated every other possibility, for which you haven't.
Your vitriol is not amusing, please stop it and be civil. Atheists don't hate religion; anti-theists do.
@Alkhemist10 Oh, and by the way - how does a lack of belief in God (or the denial of his existence) undermine their intelligence? What are you trying to say when you call atheists 'ignorant'? On the subject pertaining to biblical doctrines, many atheists have actually studied it quite extensively, and on those grounds, they've come to the conclusion that God doesn't exist because it doesn't logically follow that he would.
@RatherCynical The problem lies in the Anthropomorphic view of the Godhead... I am not speaking of a "man in the sky" but an Absolute Intelligence that is the matrix of all matter. The law of Negation is proof that passive matter cannot move on it's own, and must be forced into motion be a superior Active force that is not matter. This is a law of physics, so what is the invisible force? We cannot see our life, but by our life we live. The universe is directed from behind the scenes... cont.
@RatherCynical Beyond the five sense. There is also order everywhere in the universe, and verily, the universe is made of numbers. Everything from ram horns, sea shells, whirlpools, fingerprints, DNA, and even our milky way follows the Pytagorean theorem of the Golden ratio or golden spiral, Theta. The universe is governed by mathematics, so what or where is the mathmetician? Order coming from chaos is illogical, intelligence produced from mindlessness is illogical. cont.
@RatherCynical The universe simply CANNOT produce what it does not contain... The universe produced consciousness, because the universe is conscious. It produces beings that are self-aware, because the universe itself is self-aware.
@RatherCynical Perhaps you are not intelligent enough to comprehend... Law of Negation is proof enough that there is an intelligent imperceptible force that guides and directs passive matter. Good day.
@Alkhemist10 Or, a more plausible explanation may be that you lack the ability to convey intelligible ideas. If you'd like to dispute on the purported 'Law of Negation' - you ought to elaborate on it to illustrate why you're right.
Once you've proven there is a God, you have to prove it's your God as depicted in the Bible. Good luck with that.
@RatherCynical Here we go, same as every other Atheist... I'm NOT TALKING ABOUT A BOOK. I'm not talking about an anthropomorphic deity. You know, there are other religions out there besides the bible. And in reality a BOOK could have nothing to do with an Absolute intelligence pervading the universe... So lets leave a BOOK out of this discussion, shall we? The law of Inertia holds that an object at rest will stay at rest, unless forced into motion by a superior Active force. Cont.
@yington The properties of matter are passive, unconscious. The law of inertia states an object at rest will stay at rest. Clearly the universe is in motion, so what is the superior active force that emanates passive matter? Could be dark matter, and dark energy. We can assume this active force is conscious and intelligent because it produces such in the universe, matter alone cannot do this. This force is omniscient because all consciousness manifests through it, it is omnipresent (cont.)
@yington Because it exists in every point of the universe. It is omnipotent because something not made of matter is indestructible. These are the very qualities of what we can define as a "God". This force exists of necessity, therefore God exists.
@ThePimV There is far more evidence supporting intelligent design, and the evidence supporting some unknown force existing before the material universe was created is overwhelming. This force brought the universe into being through itself, by a thought. That is why scientists are beginning to believe that energy is an emanation of mind-substance rather than mind being a property of matter.. Nature is not a random congruence of atoms... 1.618.
if there is a unkown force that does not proofe a good, that unknown force can be something, does not have to be someone. its that we do NOT know about the orgin of the universe. if we don't know something we don't know. we don't know what was before the bigbang. there are theory's but nothing proofen.
what i do i do
i don't know - universe
you
i don't know, god, universe.
you have not presented evidence for intelligent, design,
@ThePimV This force is good because without it nothing would exist. Not good in the terms of morals, but Absolute. And who said that this force had to be a person? That's just dumb. We know this force exists because consciousness & Life comes from somewhere, & in a universe governed by law there's no such thing as chance. No such thing as a "random congruence of atoms".. 1.618 ratio is found in DNA, fingerprints, sea shells, ram horms, galaxies, whirlpools, tornadoes, etc etc. There's evidence.
@RatherCynical Now, if all matter, (everything we can see) is made of passive matter, than what is the active force that is superior to matter and puts it in motion? It must be intelligent, because the universe produces intelligence. Brute senseless matter could only produce brute senseless forms.
Newton's First Law: -"An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by a superior active force."
ALL MATTER IS PASSIVE.
What is the superior active force that puts passive matter in motion??? = GOD
"Oh, my goodness, big god, big god!" Holy shit- if I was sitting in that church at any time during my religious journey I would have left immediately. These guys are selling it, not believers, it appears to me. 36 years as a catholic, 2 years as an incredibly happy athiest.
Let me see, the believers think 1) they are created in the image of a perfect being 2) that this being helps them win football games while standing aside while millions of others die pointless deaths 3) that they have figured out the key to history and nature 4) that those who haven't "don't have ears to hear and eyes to see" - but _atheists_, not believers, are selfish and full of pride. How can anyone not see the irony?
3. You are here because of the successful fertilization of your mother's egg.
4. The matter that at one time was "you" will go through the chemical reaction of Decomposition, and the basic elements that was previously "you" will re enter nature in a different form.
Well, science cant currently answer all questions, but it is ALWAYS improving its theories based on fact. Which is why im an atheist. And btw, dinosaurs evolve into birds? What, birds are a kind of dinosaurs, its not like a trex turned into a seagull. :l
Once God is removed, the government becomes "god," and then the people lose their freedom (e.g. China, Cuba, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Soviet Union).
@yington Statistics show that the average Russian man drinks a whole bottle of vodka every 72 hours due to chronic depression. North Korea abuses its people and even murders them, refusing to allow anyone to leave the country; and nobody is allowed to accept, believe, or promote Christianity there. Capitalism is simply the art of buying and selling in business --- every country and government partakes in Capitalism. However, the Free-market enterprise is under which the U.S. operates.
@yington Communism strips the people of all ownership and freedom and gives it to the government, which has historically always abused the people. The Free-market enterprise, however, restores that freedom to the people because every individual has the inalienable right to succeed or fail by his or her own will. Regarding healthcare, though no country is perfect by any means, the U.S. healthcare is envious by Canadians and Mexicans who illegally cross the border for the American healthcare.
@yington Atheists worship nothing. Please revise your understanding of atheism. Do remember the burden of proof is on those who assert the claim, given that we have reason to doubt the existence of God (if an omnibenevolent being created a person with free will, why should that person be punished eternally for apostasy/blasphemy?)
You are clearly not understanding the big picture, so let me educate you a little my friend.
(a) YOU assert that there is no God, and without any proof. I merely ask you for the proof of God's non-existence. You have none - when you do, then you can say what you do.
(b) You don't worship God .. therefore you worship other things. What are they? Let's see...to start.....Dawkins, Evolutionary myths, and Fossils, for example.
@yington Your assertions are erroneous. I don't assert there is no God, I assert I don't believe a God exists. There's a difference between proclaiming beliefs to knowledge. If the lack of evidence is justification for the existence of God, then why can't the lack of evidence be justification for the non-existence of God?
You make a false dichotomy that if I don't worship God, I must worship other things. I can worship nothing, and that's exactly what I worship; nothing.
Ok, I can see you're having trouble understanding plenty of things here. Don't worry, it's a tough subject, and it's not problem if you're a beginner. I'll address each of your points.
-There is a lack of evidence that the universe created itself. By saying there is no God, or no higher power, one is suggesting that the universe self-created. There's a lack of evidence for that indeed. So the weight is on you, to prove this is so my friend.
@yington Our position doesn't assert 'There is no God', rather, 'I don't believe in God'. If one answers with the former, that would be 'strong atheism' or 'gnostic atheism' which implies there's evidence against the existence of God, which is untrue in itself. I assert the position of 'disbelief in reasonable doubt, i.e. skepticism'
I'm comfortable with 'I don't know' - I don't need to fabricate a book of mythological fairytales in an attempt to explain the Universe. It's not my responsibility
@yington You assume he's been at it for eternity, yet you have nothing but an unsupported book that tells you so.
We don't have to worship anything. We choose to worship on the basis of belief.
It's not my responsibility to explain bodily functions or existence, but if you'd like to know; muscular actions caused by brain activity, and physical development of the fertilized sex cells from my parents.
How exactly do you know there's a Judgement day in the first place, with no history of it?
-Of course God has been there for eternity, or he wouldn't be God. Think about it.
-You worship without knowing you worship. Many people for instance worship the worm that will be with them for eternity in hell without their saviour.
-Exactly. And you think that their actions just came out of nowhere?! You think that suddenly one day a fertilised sex cell was their to be created. DOH.
-It is in the Bible which is God's word. You choose to ignore fact. Why ?
@yington I'm not sure what relevance this eternity thing has in the first place. How can you know if he's even there?
It's not worship. Irrelevant argument.
It's not a coherent response. Try addressing your point.
It's not fact; it's supported by nothing. The very definition of God makes it impossible to present, or otherwise observe. You're relying on the translated copies of copies - the discrepancies account for more than the words in the book.
-We know because God tells us about his existence in the bible.
-Ok, example. Have you ever worried about money / career / women / sport, etc, before you slept ? Well that is actually worship, you just didn't know it. You should be on your knees to God worshipping GOD, before you sleep. Ipso facto.
-How did the conditions for fertilisation come about ? Thin air?! Without a God, that's what you think.
-God tells us it is HIS WORD in the Bible, and God is all-knowing.
That's nothing more than a circular argument. If you want to assert that, you first have to prove that this God character exists, before asserting that this God character told you so.
Your definitions of worship is far too broad. It fails to address the fundamental disagreement, so I'd consider that irrelevant for now.
It's a biological reaction. It's not the responsibility of atheists to explain science to you.
That's again, a circular argument. It fails to be compelling.
-Everybody worships something, whether you know it or not. If it's not the ALMIGHTY LORD WHO ART IN HEAVEN, then it could be football, Christopher Hitchens, or the Worm. Many things. I merely try to point you in the right direction, to worship the right thing.
-Yes, Hitchens' Razor indeed, as one asserts that "the universe self-created" (which is what one says as an atheist), and hence it is asserted without evidence, therefore DISMISSED without evidence.
@yington I think you're confusing reverence and deity worship with admiration and idolization. I find it humourous that you'd assert a position that atheists don't actually hold, as though it has any weight in our own dispute. I don't assert the Universe self-created, or was even created at all - I assert that I don't know how the Universe came about, and I trust scientists to acquire and share that knowledge on the basis that they can provide empirical data supporting their claims.
@yington Oh, and your typical Christian argument is a violation of Hitchens Razor. You can never prove a negative of anything - an illustration of this point may be that you can't prove that Santa/Fairies/Pixies/Unicorns etc. don't exist. This rather obvious statement doesn't provide a reasonable case to not doubt the existence of them.
The same applies for God. That's why we don't believe in God. It's a default position of skepticism - not rejection.
-Other religions are man-made, which would be clear if you took an objective view upon their teachings. I don't have to say MINE is true, rather I merely look to worship the Lord as best I can, and promote the truth about the universe to people who have just started out on this topic, like you.
@yington I've been in this debate for years. I don't need you to make faulty assertions in regards to my experiences in disputing theological ideals proposed by religious preachers such as yourself.
Your assertion that other religions are man-made are no more founded than the assertion that your religion is man-made. If you scrutinize the Bible without cherrypicking, you'd notice an absurd amount of contradictory claims.
There are ALOT of buildings in New York. There are probably more than 100,000, so when Spiderman comics state that he's swinging from rooftop to rooftop how can you not say "Wow Spiderman!" :)
Don't say stupid things that can work AGAINST you.
Oh you theists, at what point of making an absolute fool of yourself will you stop attacking atheists and atheists? I really have dificulty watching something like this for more than half a minute. It's like someone outlining as many logical fallacies a they can in the shortest amount of time.
So @thelastcall100 uploaded this vid with a fraudulent title hoping to lure "fallen" people to see it and be swept away into his religion by it. Sorry, @thelastcall100, but I'm neither as simple-minded nor as dishonest as you are... which is also why I'm an atheist.
Doesn't it bother you to be a liar? Doesn't it bother other Christians to see this sort of bait-and-switch fraud? Why do Christians constantly excuse deception and lies? (My theory is that their faith has desensitized them to it.)
these people are dumb!! .. and I'm an INDIAN from India, saying that... What's it with these morons and God and NEWS??... I dont think this happens anywhere else IN THE WORLD!!
Keep this up, America! You are amazing! Same as Saudi Arabia! The only difference is they do things in the name of El Mo and you, in the name of Jesus!! Jesus himself would be ashamed of you bums!! He did not teach people to be idiots!
@tarun1982 LOL, don't despair too much. This isn't real news in America - this is the kind of garbage that comes on in the middle of the night when nobody with good TV shows want to buy the time to air them. Mostly the only people seeing these programs are already Christians or they're just sad people who can't sleep and have the TV on to make noise because they're lonely.
Tornadoes in a junk yard? What are they talking about? These guys are retarded. Its not that I don't want to believe in god it's that I don't want to be associated with people like them.
I was annoyed until this argument, imagine this creature with one arm and one wing that cant run. after that i just couldnt stop laughing at their stupidity
This is a typical example of charismatic, well-spoken individuals with limited intelligence and logical faculties trying to convince themselves that god exists.
the problem with the boeing argument is ... man is more complicated than a boeing because man has the ability to create a boeing but if you believe in religion or not you have to realize that something CAN come from nothing. If a creator exists that creator must be more complicated than humans and if that is true then how can this creator come from nothing ? Richard Dawkins explains Darwinism and evolutin very well you can find documentaries and christmas lectures by him on documentary heaven
Birthers, Christaliban, anti-everything Tea Partiers and the rest of the ridiculous right have lost it! It doesn't really matter who the Republican nominee will be. Their chances of moving into the White House are 100 to 1.
In 2012 it will be the same President, only this time with even more votes.
Re-group and try again in 2016 (good luck, you WILL need it!). The current Reality Show aka Republican Primary Contest is nothing more than extremly annoying, laughable wanna-be-entertainment.
@Pisces31660 No, not in those specific words, but there are theories that show the relationship between birds and dinosaurs. Something to do with bone structures or something. I'm not a biologist.
You are right that they are misrepresenting the idea though.
The issue with this whole debate is that they put the burden of proof solely on science, with the only alternative being God. If they were put to the same burden of proof, they would reach the same alternative atheists have...
The question is: What proves God exists? vs. What proves evolution didn't exist?
I gotta ask: why WOULDN'T atheists want there to be a god? What could possibly be the downside? That's right: there IS no reason. They don't believe simply because there's no reason to. That's it. I'm an atheist not because I WANT to be, but because logic and reason dictate so. So: if there IS a god, I'd go to heaven, anyway: why would god punish ME for not making me right, right?
@MindTrixGraphix The mind is incredibly prone to hallucinogenic, suggestive states. Why should we believe in Jesus any more than Jeebos, or Zeus, or any other God suggested by any other religion?
@RatherCynical -the research is out there waiting for you, & it's completely overwhelming. One example is that 500 years before Jesus was born, Prophets foretold of the many things that would be done & that Jesus would do that would identify who was the Messiah. Jesus fulfilled more than different 48 prophecies spoken of him. The probability of that happening is 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 to 1. Bascially impossible, but Jesus fulfilled each one. Jesus is God.
@MindTrixGraphix You do realise that vague prophecies that only happen to be right whilst being grossly outweighed by those who happen to be wrong doesn't confirm anything, right? Quoting 'many things would be done,' that could mean literally anything, from many genocides to occur to a messiah arising.
Your contrived arbitrary figures don't impress me. Please try again.
@MindTrixGraphix So says a book that can't be proved. But I don't care my religion is right my book says my lord and master completed 9001 tasks as foretold, even more unlikely. He is god.
@chackers There DEFINITELY is a downside to believing in God and that is you lose the certainty of the simplistic scientific model of obvious cause-effect you are so used to. Your little sandbox gets messed with. and if you start asking deeper questions the BASIC approach doesn't work anymore just like normal physical laws break down and don't make sense in quantum physics - so you'd rather just stay on the surface of things and be happy with simple answers to simple questions.
@chackers HA! What logic or reason points to no God???? THERE IS NONE. In fact, all the logic in the world points to an intelligent force existing of necessity. And In fact, claiming the universe is blind and random is completely illogical and unreasonable and therefore INGORant. Even Einstein believed in God.. I cannot believe you just said you dont believe based on logic. Utter stupidity. Newtons first law proves that which exists of necessity, and you claim that it necessarily doesn't exist!!
@MindTrixGraphix The ultimate non-sequitur. We've looked extensively and we haven't found 'him'. Who's to say that your religion is correct, not some other?
@RatherCynical -No other Religion or figure can make any claims even close to what Jesus has done. Im not here to argue or debate. I can only help you with the Truth and direction.
@MindTrixGraphix If you're not here to try to convince me that atheism is wrong, then why are we having this discussion? You claim to see the 'Truth', so take me there and show me. If you fail to do that, then I can't accept your position.
Your claim that 'no other religion or figure can make any claims even close to what Jesus has done,' doesn't tell me much more than what any other religious preacher would say. The question is, why Christianity?
The great thing about being an Atheist is that if there is a Heaven. There will not be any Christians there. An Atheist loses nothing and gains so much not having faith in the absence of truth. To be accepted into Heaven one only has to accept Christ as your savior.. So if an Atheist dies and he meets God and asks if you accept him. Obviously the evidence is right before us and of course we would honestly accept him. It is dishonest to link religion to morality, which is natural law.
It's really hard to sit and listen to these blithering idiots for too long. I love how they make claims but never, ever back up what they are saying. Just making statements doesn't answer anything...I'll take evolution, and no god didn't guide evolution ...Thanks...
im gonna right a book about a creator and hide it within my family till 10000 thousand years into the future and write in it: some ppl will doubt this book and everyone will believe it i am starting to like this world
Why do I always read these rants about the assembly of airplanes or watches ? Scientists make no claim whatsoever that animals appeared instantaneously. Simple celled organisms evolved into multi celled, then invertebrates, etc.. The same evolution gives a cricket a brown color so he can hide - instead of a bright white or blue. Christians really truly are mentally challenged.
These morons can't understand that Dinosaurs can evolve into birds. Yet, they believe man and woman magically appearing out of thin air, is a sane idea.
Religion was created to control people, to spread fear and brainwash people into a belief system. Why can not one single Religious person tell me where the Dinosaurs came from, or the thousands of years old skeletons of ancient man. Religion was created when Science was at the very infant stage. Now Science has grown up and bringing light to many questions. Remember Galileo, when he was put on trial for stating the Earth orbited the sun, the Church even now live in ignorance of the truth.
"Why can not one single Religious person tell me where the Dinosaurs came from..."
Have you asked them?
Thousands of years old skeletons have come from people who died thousands of years ago.
THe idea of the Earth being the centre of the universe did not come from the 'Church'. Surely you know that? It was a popular scientific idea. THe Roman Catholic Church is very orthodox. They believed popular science. Now they have stated that they believe in Darwinism.
"we know the truth, but we supress it...."
oh the irony!

When you get sick, pray to be cured; don't rely on modern medicine.
ultraollie 2 months ago
@ultraollie If you were sick, you'd pray to get better as opposed to taking medicine? If faith-healing worked, there would be a statistical anomaly that skews towards believers of a particular religion. This has never occurred. There's cause and effect chains that can be directly observed by taking medicine - you're far more likely to get better if you take it.
The suppression of medical advancements is one of the biggest reasons against theism. Please justify your stance.
RatherCynical 2 months ago

Question is; Why not?

Bible =/= science. I'm sorry, believe whatever makes you a happy person, if it gives you hope or pleasure then that's fine. But as scientists, we don't use old literature as proof of anything. Evolutionists doesn't state Darwin as proof of a theory, we use methodically gathered data, and we have so much data. When we look at the data it points to one thing, that life on our planet has changed slowly over time, it has evolved, every single piece of data we have shows us that. That is the science.

@Alkhemist10 Can you please give me an experiment, logical argument, or philosophical reasoning that would allow us to differentiate a designed universe and a non designed one?
thor123422 2 months ago
@thor123422 The human mind cannot operate or conceive of anything outside of the universal framework of which he exists. The universe cannot produce things it does not contain. Where does intelligence and consciousness come from if the universe itself is not intelligent?? It is impossible to produce WHAT IT DOES NOT CONTAIN. The microcosm is in direct accordance with the macrocosm. The Law of inertia PROVES that there is an invisible intelligent force that drives PASSIVE matter. There MUST be.
Alkhemist10 2 months ago
@Alkhemist10 Intelligence and consciousness has no known cause as of this moment. However a blank spot in our knowledge DOES NOT point to god, it points nowhere because we have no information.
The law of inertia proves that matter and energy interact with each other, nothing more, nothing less. Any inference about god from inertia is, at best, grasping at straws, and at worst the ramblings of one who doesn't how to deduce an implication.
thor123422 2 months ago
@Alkhemist10 If the human mind cannot conceive of anything outside of the universal framework, then how can you assert that a deity exists?
RatherCynical 2 months ago
@Alkhemist10 That's perhaps one of the most blatant misrepresentations of atheism I've seen. Atheism doesn't assert that the interactions within the universe is 'blind and random'. We accept that we don't know, and we're okay with that idea. The reason 'we don't know' doesn't justify the stance 'God done it', unless you've eliminated every other possibility, for which you haven't.
Your vitriol is not amusing, please stop it and be civil. Atheists don't hate religion; anti-theists do.
RatherCynical 2 months ago
@Alkhemist10 Oh, and by the way - how does a lack of belief in God (or the denial of his existence) undermine their intelligence? What are you trying to say when you call atheists 'ignorant'? On the subject pertaining to biblical doctrines, many atheists have actually studied it quite extensively, and on those grounds, they've come to the conclusion that God doesn't exist because it doesn't logically follow that he would.
RatherCynical 2 months ago
@RatherCynical The problem lies in the Anthropomorphic view of the Godhead... I am not speaking of a "man in the sky" but an Absolute Intelligence that is the matrix of all matter. The law of Negation is proof that passive matter cannot move on it's own, and must be forced into motion be a superior Active force that is not matter. This is a law of physics, so what is the invisible force? We cannot see our life, but by our life we live. The universe is directed from behind the scenes... cont.
Alkhemist10 1 month ago
@RatherCynical Beyond the five sense. There is also order everywhere in the universe, and verily, the universe is made of numbers. Everything from ram horns, sea shells, whirlpools, fingerprints, DNA, and even our milky way follows the Pytagorean theorem of the Golden ratio or golden spiral, Theta. The universe is governed by mathematics, so what or where is the mathmetician? Order coming from chaos is illogical, intelligence produced from mindlessness is illogical. cont.
Alkhemist10 1 month ago
@RatherCynical The universe simply CANNOT produce what it does not contain... The universe produced consciousness, because the universe is conscious. It produces beings that are self-aware, because the universe itself is self-aware.
Alkhemist10 1 month ago
@Alkhemist10 That makes little to no sense. It's a good idea to just stick with 'Does God exist'
RatherCynical 1 month ago
@Alkhemist10 That makes little to no sense. It's a good idea to just stick with 'Does God exist' as a point for dispute.
RatherCynical 1 month ago
@RatherCynical Perhaps you are not intelligent enough to comprehend... Law of Negation is proof enough that there is an intelligent imperceptible force that guides and directs passive matter. Good day.
Alkhemist10 1 month ago
@Alkhemist10 Or, a more plausible explanation may be that you lack the ability to convey intelligible ideas. If you'd like to dispute on the purported 'Law of Negation' - you ought to elaborate on it to illustrate why you're right.
Once you've proven there is a God, you have to prove it's your God as depicted in the Bible. Good luck with that.
RatherCynical 1 month ago
@RatherCynical Here we go, same as every other Atheist... I'm NOT TALKING ABOUT A BOOK. I'm not talking about an anthropomorphic deity. You know, there are other religions out there besides the bible. And in reality a BOOK could have nothing to do with an Absolute intelligence pervading the universe... So lets leave a BOOK out of this discussion, shall we? The law of Inertia holds that an object at rest will stay at rest, unless forced into motion by a superior Active force. Cont.
Alkhemist10 1 month ago
@Alkhemist10
Have you managed to prove that God doesn't exist yet ?
yington 1 month ago
@yington I can prove God exists. Can you prove it doesn't?
Alkhemist10 1 month ago
@yington The properties of matter are passive, unconscious. The law of inertia states an object at rest will stay at rest. Clearly the universe is in motion, so what is the superior active force that emanates passive matter? Could be dark matter, and dark energy. We can assume this active force is conscious and intelligent because it produces such in the universe, matter alone cannot do this. This force is omniscient because all consciousness manifests through it, it is omnipresent (cont.)
Alkhemist10 1 month ago
@yington Because it exists in every point of the universe. It is omnipotent because something not made of matter is indestructible. These are the very qualities of what we can define as a "God". This force exists of necessity, therefore God exists.
Alkhemist10 1 month ago
@Alkhemist10
that does not proof there is a creator at all.
l2 understand burden of proof btw
ThePimV 3 weeks ago
@ThePimV There is far more evidence supporting intelligent design, and the evidence supporting some unknown force existing before the material universe was created is overwhelming. This force brought the universe into being through itself, by a thought. That is why scientists are beginning to believe that energy is an emanation of mind-substance rather than mind being a property of matter.. Nature is not a random congruence of atoms... 1.618.
Alkhemist10 3 weeks ago
@Alkhemist10
if there is a unkown force that does not proofe a good, that unknown force can be something, does not have to be someone. its that we do NOT know about the orgin of the universe. if we don't know something we don't know. we don't know what was before the bigbang. there are theory's but nothing proofen.
what i do i do
i don't know - universe
you
i don't know, god, universe.
you have not presented evidence for intelligent, design,
ThePimV 2 weeks ago
@ThePimV This force is good because without it nothing would exist. Not good in the terms of morals, but Absolute. And who said that this force had to be a person? That's just dumb. We know this force exists because consciousness & Life comes from somewhere, & in a universe governed by law there's no such thing as chance. No such thing as a "random congruence of atoms".. 1.618 ratio is found in DNA, fingerprints, sea shells, ram horms, galaxies, whirlpools, tornadoes, etc etc. There's evidence.
Alkhemist10 2 weeks ago
@RatherCynical Now, if all matter, (everything we can see) is made of passive matter, than what is the active force that is superior to matter and puts it in motion? It must be intelligent, because the universe produces intelligence. Brute senseless matter could only produce brute senseless forms.

yington 3 months ago
@yington Statistics show that the average Russian man drinks a whole bottle of vodka every 72 hours due to chronic depression. North Korea abuses its people and even murders them, refusing to allow anyone to leave the country; and nobody is allowed to accept, believe, or promote Christianity there. Capitalism is simply the art of buying and selling in business --- every country and government partakes in Capitalism. However, the Free-market enterprise is under which the U.S. operates.
ThePatrickFamilyBand 3 months ago
@yington Communism strips the people of all ownership and freedom and gives it to the government, which has historically always abused the people. The Free-market enterprise, however, restores that freedom to the people because every individual has the inalienable right to succeed or fail by his or her own will. Regarding healthcare, though no country is perfect by any means, the U.S. healthcare is envious by Canadians and Mexicans who illegally cross the border for the American healthcare.

RatherCynical 2 months ago
@RatherCynical
OH CYNICALFACE
Repent.
I merely spread the truth.
yington 1 month ago
@yington Your assertions are erroneous. I don't assert there is no God, I assert I don't believe a God exists. There's a difference between proclaiming beliefs to knowledge. If the lack of evidence is justification for the existence of God, then why can't the lack of evidence be justification for the non-existence of God?
You make a false dichotomy that if I don't worship God, I must worship other things. I can worship nothing, and that's exactly what I worship; nothing.
RatherCynical 1 month ago
@RatherCynical
OH CYNNYMAN,
REPENT.
So the weight is on you, to prove this is so my friend.
yington 1 month ago
@yington Our position doesn't assert 'There is no God', rather, 'I don't believe in God'. If one answers with the former, that would be 'strong atheism' or 'gnostic atheism' which implies there's evidence against the existence of God, which is untrue in itself. I assert the position of 'disbelief in reasonable doubt, i.e. skepticism'
I'm comfortable with 'I don't know' - I don't need to fabricate a book of mythological fairytales in an attempt to explain the Universe. It's not my responsibility
RatherCynical 1 month ago
@RatherCynical
OH CYNBAD,
REPENT.
-You may have been it for years, but God has been in it for eternity, and the Bible for 2 millenia. Eternity > years...yet you doubt God?
-I don't confuse reverence with admiration .. have you not heard of the Satanists, for instance?
-Ok, you don't believe in a God. So how are you breathing, typing, or existing?
-How exactly will you account for your sins on judgement day, without a saviour? It's just irrationality to assume you can do this.
yington 1 month ago
@yington You assume he's been at it for eternity, yet you have nothing but an unsupported book that tells you so.
We don't have to worship anything. We choose to worship on the basis of belief.
It's not my responsibility to explain bodily functions or existence, but if you'd like to know; muscular actions caused by brain activity, and physical development of the fertilized sex cells from my parents.
How exactly do you know there's a Judgement day in the first place, with no history of it?
RatherCynical 1 month ago
@RatherCynical
Why ?
yington 1 month ago
@yington I'm not sure what relevance this eternity thing has in the first place. How can you know if he's even there?
It's not worship. Irrelevant argument.
It's not a coherent response. Try addressing your point.
It's not fact; it's supported by nothing. The very definition of God makes it impossible to present, or otherwise observe. You're relying on the translated copies of copies - the discrepancies account for more than the words in the book.
Besides, how do you know it's God's word?
RatherCynical 1 month ago
@RatherCynical
Amen.
yington 1 month ago
@yington

-Yes, Hitchens' Razor indeed, as one asserts that "the universe self-created" (which is what one says as an atheist), and hence it is asserted without evidence, therefore DISMISSED without evidence.
yington 1 month ago
@yington I think you're confusing reverence and deity worship with admiration and idolization. I find it humourous that you'd assert a position that atheists don't actually hold, as though it has any weight in our own dispute. I don't assert the Universe self-created, or was even created at all - I assert that I don't know how the Universe came about, and I trust scientists to acquire and share that knowledge on the basis that they can provide empirical data supporting their claims.
RatherCynical 1 month ago
@yington Oh, and your typical Christian argument is a violation of Hitchens Razor. You can never prove a negative of anything - an illustration of this point may be that you can't prove that Santa/Fairies/Pixies/Unicorns etc. don't exist. This rather obvious statement doesn't provide a reasonable case to not doubt the existence of them.
The same applies for God. That's why we don't believe in God. It's a default position of skepticism - not rejection.
RatherCynical 1 month ago
@yington Oh, and since we're at this debate thing - why are other religions false, and yours true?
RatherCynical 1 month ago
@RatherCynical
-Other religions are man-made, which would be clear if you took an objective view upon their teachings. I don't have to say MINE is true, rather I merely look to worship the Lord as best I can, and promote the truth about the universe to people who have just started out on this topic, like you.
Good luck my friend, and keep it up.
HALLELUJAH
Amen.
yington 1 month ago
@yington I've been in this debate for years. I don't need you to make faulty assertions in regards to my experiences in disputing theological ideals proposed by religious preachers such as yourself.
Your assertion that other religions are man-made are no more founded than the assertion that your religion is man-made. If you scrutinize the Bible without cherrypicking, you'd notice an absurd amount of contradictory claims.

collectively these guys have the IQ of a cumquat. friggin idiot...no one has ever said that dinosaurs evolved into birds...
Pisces31660 3 months ago
@Pisces31660 No, not in those specific words, but there are theories that show the relationship between birds and dinosaurs. Something to do with bone structures or something. I'm not a biologist.
You are right that they are misrepresenting the idea though.

The issue with this whole debate is that they put the burden of proof solely on science, with the only alternative being God. If they were put to the same burden of proof, they would reach the same alternative atheists have...
The question is: What proves God exists? vs. What proves evolution didn't exist?

In the words of Jesus Christ 'THERE ARE NO DINOSAURS'
pintchofsalt 3 months ago
I gotta ask: why WOULDN'T atheists want there to be a god? What could possibly be the downside? That's right: there IS no reason. They don't believe simply because there's no reason to. That's it. I'm an atheist not because I WANT to be, but because logic and reason dictate so. So: if there IS a god, I'd go to heaven, anyway: why would god punish ME for not making me right, right?

@chackers -Jesus still Loves you. Look for him, you will find him.
MindTrixGraphix 3 months ago
@MindTrixGraphix The mind is incredibly prone to hallucinogenic, suggestive states. Why should we believe in Jesus any more than Jeebos, or Zeus, or any other God suggested by any other religion?
RatherCynical 2 months ago
@RatherCynical -the research is out there waiting for you, & it's completely overwhelming. One example is that 500 years before Jesus was born, Prophets foretold of the many things that would be done & that Jesus would do that would identify who was the Messiah. Jesus fulfilled more than different 48 prophecies spoken of him. The probability of that happening is 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 to 1. Bascially impossible, but Jesus fulfilled each one. Jesus is God.
MindTrixGraphix 2 months ago
@MindTrixGraphix You do realise that vague prophecies that only happen to be right whilst being grossly outweighed by those who happen to be wrong doesn't confirm anything, right? Quoting 'many things would be done,' that could mean literally anything, from many genocides to occur to a messiah arising.
Your contrived arbitrary figures don't impress me. Please try again.
RatherCynical 2 months ago
@MindTrixGraphix So says a book that can't be proved. But I don't care my religion is right my book says my lord and master completed 9001 tasks as foretold, even more unlikely. He is god.
TokenStudios 1 month ago
@TokenStudios -Can't be proved to you, a person that is egnoring the enormous amount of evidence. 9001? Hilarious.....
Are you one of those people who still believe that the earth is 5 billion years old & dinosaurs died 93 million years about by an asteroid........
MindTrixGraphix 1 month ago
@MindTrixGraphix I have evidence it's all in my gods' book. Whats your evidence?
TokenStudios 1 month ago
@chackers There DEFINITELY is a downside to believing in God and that is you lose the certainty of the simplistic scientific model of obvious cause-effect you are so used to. Your little sandbox gets messed with. and if you start asking deeper questions the BASIC approach doesn't work anymore just like normal physical laws break down and don't make sense in quantum physics - so you'd rather just stay on the surface of things and be happy with simple answers to simple questions.

@chackers
Exactly, why would god give you free will and then punish you for choosing the wrong option... oh wait, god's a woman! xD
CowLunch 3 months ago
@chackers HA! What logic or reason points to no God???? THERE IS NONE. In fact, all the logic in the world points to an intelligent force existing of necessity. And In fact, claiming the universe is blind and random is completely illogical and unreasonable and therefore INGORant. Even Einstein believed in God.. I cannot believe you just said you dont believe based on logic. Utter stupidity. Newtons first law proves that which exists of necessity, and you claim that it necessarily doesn't exist!!
Alkhemist10 2 months ago
@chackers -look for Him & you will find Him. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
MindTrixGraphix 2 months ago
@MindTrixGraphix The ultimate non-sequitur. We've looked extensively and we haven't found 'him'. Who's to say that your religion is correct, not some other?
RatherCynical 2 months ago
@RatherCynical -No other Religion or figure can make any claims even close to what Jesus has done. Im not here to argue or debate. I can only help you with the Truth and direction.
MindTrixGraphix 2 months ago
@MindTrixGraphix If you're not here to try to convince me that atheism is wrong, then why are we having this discussion? You claim to see the 'Truth', so take me there and show me. If you fail to do that, then I can't accept your position.
Your claim that 'no other religion or figure can make any claims even close to what Jesus has done,' doesn't tell me much more than what any other religious preacher would say. The question is, why Christianity?
RatherCynical 2 months ago
The great thing about being an Atheist is that if there is a Heaven. There will not be any Christians there. An Atheist loses nothing and gains so much not having faith in the absence of truth. To be accepted into Heaven one only has to accept Christ as your savior.. So if an Atheist dies and he meets God and asks if you accept him. Obviously the evidence is right before us and of course we would honestly accept him. It is dishonest to link religion to morality, which is natural law.
