  • Im 22 years old, I Injured my groin and both kness during a pick up game, I have crepitus on both of my knees, Its about a year and a half now since the accident. now heres the thing, before I can touch the rim with both hands, (I'm only 5'7). but after the injury, as pain and swelling subsided, I'm so depressed that until now It still hurts. It hurts when there's weight bearing like standing up from a chair, jogging, It even bothers me when taking free throws.. ='(

  • i was 12 when i had that sergory nd i think i torn it again

  • Eleven years ago I torn my front acl and they told me I should have the surgery to fix it at the time my three kids were all under the age of five do I decided do therpy and wear my knee brace well to make a long story short I just recently slipped on some ice and I torn my miniscus again fluid from injury and cronic cartliage damage well I'm having the surgury how long will it take to heal after surgury???

  • @angelasexymama If its the ACL, usually you can walk after the surgery because the ACL holds your leg together. they might take a graft and put that in. if that is done, usually you can walk with your knee locked straight with possibly 2-3 months of therapy.

Now if you tore any meniscus tissue then you may not be able to walk for a good 3-4 months without crutches.

  • my doctor gave me some bs excuse . he was like.."oh we didnt think the knee would collapse from removing that much cartilage". i went in for surgery walking and after surgery came out limping....to this day 7 yrs later i still limp in pain and cant run at all. because the removal of the broken cartilage resulted in bone on bone grinding of the lateral condyles. i jsut saw on youtube theres a clinic in california that does meniscus transplants for situations like mine and urs. ill update u.

  • got %40 of my meniscus removed on wednesday. Dont be scared and go have it. I am able to walk today, pretty easily without limping. I got no repair or stitches, thats why the recovery was fast. Got 2 holes bleeding a little during the day. Thats all. (Determine your doctor good, it is very important)

  • Hi. these video's are so helpfull :) but i cant find any video of u reconstructing lateral collateral patella ligament ?

  • THIS MENISCUS IS REALLY FKD UP!

  • im getting this on july 20th- so (not) excited!!!!!!! lol :0

  • I was just wondering, why do my knees crack every time i bend them?

  • I am scheduled to get this op soon, i have ruptured ACL and cartliage is knackered...the doc said if i get this and my knee is strong, i may not need ACL surgery but could play footy again. can any body back this up at all?

  • @dougiethesharpe He is right, powerful genicular (knee) muscles absorb a lot of the mechanical load placed on the knee, which allows the ACL to heal as less load is placed directly onto the ligament and instead redirected to those genicular muscles. This allows for less interruptions in the fusion of the severed AC Ligament.

  • Weird, does meniscus grow back if they remove it?

  • @iRaveRobot no.

  • @brugerper

So what's the point of removing it? It'll just weaken the knee.

  • @TruthfulChristian2 The point is that u can be painfree an move around again, play sports what so ever. I have heard u can get an artificial meniscus but i never got the offer...

  • @brugerper i had my lateral meniscus destroyed playing sports and it was removed during acl surgery and now my knee is collapsed. they wont giv me a artificial meniscus. they just want to do total replacement of knee. any advice?

  • @parim31 A total replacement of the knee i have been told should be the worst thing ever. 'you should try other doctors before even considering a knee replacement. That is the last thing i would do. My knee is still messed up and its been over 2 years since i had surgery but my doc don't wanna operate on it unless i can't walk.

It sucks, anyways hope you find a better options

  • @brugerper chek it out, its called the stone clinic in southern california. The surgery is performed by Dr.Stone.

for some reason i cant put the link on here. but if u search for Stone clinic, u could see the video.

  • @brugerper hers one video of the stone clinic : Articular Cartilage Paste Graft Technique: Interview with Dr. Kevin Stone

  • If you have anything to let me know about this please message me and tell me

  • i have the same pain. i got the same results from the doctor too.

  • I had a mri done and they said nothing was torn and they are sending me to a orthopedic the seventeenth. Even though nothing is torn i have a lot of pain along the sides and down the middle of my knee. What could be wrong

  • @shortnfun did you find out whats wrong with your knee becuase i think i may have the same thing.

  • how long are you out from sport after this surgery?

  • I am having this surgery done in a week...it will be my second, if anyone can tell me how the second time is and how painful...it will help. I had it scoped once in college, but I am now a bit older and out of shape...can anyone give me some words of wisdom?

  • I had this surgery, along with another surgery to repair are broken knee cap and torn bands of carteledge called Plica. The surgery is quick and recovery is not too painful. You will have good pain meds.

  • well im assuming its my meniscus on both my knees but my right knee is worser and its been like this for 4 year snow? should surgery be ASAP or can i still wait. at first the doctor said i was alright but nope....

  • The longer you wait the more time you have to damage it.

  • Wow. I have my meniscus surgery tomorrow morning. Although my entire meniscus is believed to be completely detached like my other knee. That little pac-man type tool freaks me out.

  • i hurt my knee yesterday , playing football and i went for a tackle swung my right leg out and it fell awkwardly i felt it twist and click, i couldent put any weight on it. Doctor played around with my knee pressed the side and heard a click lol now i have a huge splint and i cant bend my knee now like i could when furst hurt. It also swells up goto get physio now and see a specialist, i hope i dont need an op.

  • omg im getting this surgery in may!

    im so scared!

  • how was your surgery ??

  • my moms getting surgery on her knee, shes got a tear in the cartilage or whatever plus she has athritis in her knee, her knee just locked like 0 minutes ago and she was in a lot of pain.

  • how many month lateral meniscus repair can be batter after surgery

  • Depends...some parts of the meniscus can be repaired while others can only be removed...if repaired it takes longer to return but you have less chance of having arthrightus (sorry for spelling)

  • how much does that surgery cost?

  • Eh...I had it just about 4 weeks ago and I believe for me it was just over 7000 dollars...

  • What were your symptoms?

  • Alright let me think here...Sudden sharp pain on some movements, the knee "locking" where I could not straighten my leg. Knee giving out, these are the most severe things I had, and I had a pretty bad tear, (with the meniscus also sliding over the other and the torn part getting caught in the joint) If I were you I would go to an Orthopeadic because they have multiple tests to find out what it is exactly and if they say so then get an MRI...These usually show a tear but sometimes

  • (as in my case) it didn't show so then you have to make a decision whether or not to do the surgery. But if you do have a tear and decide not to have the surgery you have a greater risk of arthrightous (sorry about spelling) later in your life.

  • If you didn't have my symptoms that doesn't mean yours isn't torn...Mine was severely torn these are all of the symptoms right here:

The symptoms of a meniscus tear often vary. In a typical minor tear, there may be pain and slight swelling at first. These symptoms usually go away in 2 to 3 weeks.

  • In severe tears, pieces of the torn meniscus can dislocate into the joint space. This can make the knee catch, pop, or lock. You may not be able to straighten your knee. It can also feel "wobbly" or unstable, or give way without warning. The knee may swell and become stiff right after the injury, or over 2 to 3 days

  • In a typical moderate tear, you may feel pain at the side or center of the knee, depending on where the tear is located. Often, you are still able to walk. Swelling increases gradually over 2 to 3 days and may make your knee feel stiff and limit bending. There's often sharp pain with twisting or squatting. These symptoms go away but tend to recur with minor twisting or overuse.

  • What about a "chalky" feeling in your knees somewhat of dryness or bone to bone contact?

  • I didn't have that sensation...If your really worried about it I would go to your doctor or an orthopeadic either one of these people should be able to tell whether you have a meniscal problem.

  • Well I am awatting my X-ray appointment. My knees lock sometime too.

  • Is it Possible To repair a torn meniscus without surgery?
