Why didnt you use your exact width dedo jig. or your cross cut sldges.. I built those using your ideas works really great. so thanks for that. But are there cases where I should not be using those ?
@balalaser There are always multiple ways to get things done. That's not to say one way is better than another. So if you watch a lot of woodworking videos, you'll see folks using different methods and tools and they are all perfectly viable.
For the most part your videos are geared toward the more advanced and experienced woodworkers, but sometimes you sound like you talking to first time Jr. HS wood shop students.
@TheWoodWhisperer I am largely self-taught and have progressed to a gently advanced level. Considering woodshop was replaced by computer labs the year before I got to jr. high , there are so many basic things that I just never heard of and never figured out. The fact that you cover these basic things has been incredibly beneficial for me and is the reason I am obsessed with your videos.
Keep on rocking, Marc!
p.s. I am excited to join the guild, once I get a better job.
@mrcurtstiles well thanks man. Very glad to hear you find the videos useful. I never took a shop class myself so I am constantly trying to fill in the gaps in my woodworking education. I guess that's why I keep trying to drive those points home in my videos. I know I'm not the only one. :) Hope to see you in the Guild some day! :)
26:40 That measurement will be off a tiny bit because the ruler is at an angle. It shouldn't matter for wood working (I'm more of a machinist). If you want a slightly better way; place a square flush to one wall sticking out and use a tape measure.
Saying that something is so dirt simple that "no user error is possible" is just inviting some brilliant idiot to prove to you just how wrong you are....
since you are putting in small shelves (depth) it is a good idea to put a small brad nail in that hole in the shelf pins. i've done it before and it really helps. could also screw into the self through the hole also
@attainableapex Yeah, the small shelves are so lightweight they would tend to move around easily. How about a small rounded slot to rest over the pins to lock them into position? More work though.

"whisperize" LOL Out of curiosity why did you get rid of the Festool Mitre saw for the Jet?
Mopardude 7 months ago
@Mopardude I was testing out the Jet for a while, but this video was from almost two years ago. So I'm still using the Kapex.
