  • Hey enjoyed your video guess we are all nuts in some way Your idea about puting a van in the ground and a top hatch is what I been lookin to do. I just need a van now ..

  • you done anything yet?

  • @a10fjet No, I have changed my mind on this project, it only takes 3 feet before water fills the whole, as i am on a lake.:-(

  • Just throw a good tarp over you so you don't get wet. Big as you is you AiN'T gettin blowed away anyhow.

  • @TheStevieoo HAHAHA THANKS;-)

  • Just throw a good tarp over you so you don't get wet. Big as you is you gettin blowed away anyhow. A haw haw haw, yawsa

  • I am thinking of building my own storm house too!!If you bury a vehicle it will rust fast and start leaking unless you cover it in concrete bottom and sides and top.I want some rebar and 4x8 plywood and i will pour the floor then use plywood and rebar to do the sides. The top could have reinforcement post on each corner put those in when your pouring the walls.Doing all this yourseld could sure be alot less way less than $1,800,00.Good luck with yours

  • move to higher ground will be your best bet

  • if want to check for a review on that 1 unit that was sold...click on the number "18" by the sellers name...that is the feedback score for items they have sold...that will take you to the feedback info from people who have bought stuff from that seller

  • A buried shipping container from a freight ship makes a nice shelter, I have seen 40' for sale before for around $1800. If you want to go a little less expensive you could by you a brand new septic tank, tell the seller what you are buying it for, there is more than likely a way to seal it up and just put a manhole cover on top, bury it then you have a storm shelter.

  • @EricDH79 GOOD IDEA THANKS

  • double as a great grow room:)

  • You got a steep bank in back of your house that would be perfect to tunnel into a bit and reinforce it with cinder block.....Then you got to hope you are home when you need it !

  • Just dig a hole, set up some forms, and build your own. I'm sure it would be a little cheaper. Just make sure you waterproof that concrete before you start to use it. Hell, for that price, you may be able to make it even bigger AND with more amenities! :)

  • @mbyr31

    ^^^ this.

Ours is concrete block on a poured floor with a poured ceiling. You could fit 2+ of the ones for sale inside of it. It's no longer water proof, but I plan to rectify that situation sooner or later. Not that I ever use it, but hey... the day may come

  • I agree, why not just build your own?

  • ya reefer shipping containers are really strong, you could bury that thing 10ft deep and not have problems. but it'd be pretty boring inside.

  • you could burrie a small 20' shipping container

  • Just food for thought the person who bought it you could look at the sellers comment history and send the person who bought it and send them a e-mail and ask him about what he bought. As far as usin a vehicle for a shelter the walls aren't thick enough....you need it to be thick walled.you should get the pre built shelter.Just my opinion.

  • dewd.. find an old sail boat and just bury it. fiberglass.. won't rust. has just about everything already set for comfort. cheers

  • Build your own

  • LMAO, You read EXACTLY like I do when I'm tipping some back! Love it....

  • Joplin got wrecked. I wouldn't mind one of them for hurricanes. buy a cheap shipping container, dig a hole waterproof the shit out of it, and cover it with cinderblocks and dirt. cheap redneck shelter. but you'd need to rent a moat digger lol.
