It sucks because 777s into SJC are so rare now. Almost a thing of the past. I flew one (Delta) from SLC to SJC in 2002, and I swear it was the smoothest, most comfortable plane I have ever flown on. Both the takeoff and landing were flawless. The weather was perfect in both cities though. It is my 2nd favorite plane, after the 747. The A380 is bigger, but ugly and nowhere near as graceful as the 747. Airbus never really could compete with Boeing.
@SkylineToTheSeaAndMe airbus makes more planes then boeing just saying ;) , but i don't care about the boeing vs airbus. I love flying both of them. At the end of the day it matters all on the maintenance of the planes, not the manufacture, without the proper maintenance the planes will fall out of the sky
Yeah Airbus passed Boeing recently, but I still like Boeing planes better. I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of flying on a scAirbus. The 747 existed almost 40 years before the A380 went into service, and over 20 years before the A340 went into service; but your right, it all depends on maintenance. I think Airbus has had a worse safety record/more design flaws though. Could be wrong.
@SkylineToTheSeaAndMe well please keep in mind boeing is a MUCH older company then airbus. No boeings has more accidents, and again its because they are older, if you factor in how old airbus is and how old boeing is and do some simple math you can figure out that they both average the same amount of accidents. The 747 is a beautiful bird and so is the A340 , the A380 is in a class of its own. In my opinion its a pleasure to fly them both, Boeing and Airbus
Yeah you are right. I like the looks of the bar on the A380, and the fact that you can have a private suite with a shower, and bed. Now that is luxury : )
@SkylineToTheSeaAndMe Im all was right, (just kidding!) Yeah a380 is unbelievable, i sort of know someone who has flown in Emirates first class all the time and yeah 10K per way, yeah....
Boeing is (and has always been) a private company as well. Airbus is a multinational EU government/corporate conglomerate. So it took the collective efforts of several EU nations almost 40 years to finally pass Boeing. The A380 is an amazing plane, but it almost looks as if it's not airworthy.
I remember taking this flight back in like 2005 when I went to the Philippines! Nowadays you have to take Japan Airlines through the AA website or just take another airline altogether...like Delta.
American Airlines flew this route (San Jose, CA to Narita, Japan) since the early 90s.....On October 27, 2006, this was the last AA flight departing San Jose to Narita, Japan. Don't know why AA cancelled it (they also closed the Seattle - Narita route in 2002).
Why did AA retired the SJC-NRT route?
