It seems like this song is different from what you actually hear in the anime. Maybe the anime was re-released and they composed another version, kind of like what happened with Hayao Miazaki's Castle In The Sky? I love the song myself, but I kind of prefer the anime version, it just sounds different and more intense, like someone's really losing their mind...

@SqueenTangerine Your Mileage May Vary. I find it gets less creepy as the song goes on, but the beginning is especially unnerving to me. It doesn't sound like a "human" humming. This song is like the theme song of a mental breakdown.

Just watched this movie, and I have to say that Satoshi Kon can do NO wrong! This is such an amazing movie, and this piece of music was a great choice. It really gives off a disturbed feel. When this music played it brought the scene to life. This movie and music is mind-shatteringly good!
