@ashuntboy the kitchen is the natural starting ground for any DIY project. it's within easy distance of everything you might need... like tools from the garage and... food to eat.
Thanks for the videos very educational! So what happened to the film you made wit the DIY camera dolly? I hope all is well with the documentaries and I am looking forward to seeing them soon :)
Hey guys thanx for all these videos so far. Something thats been anoying me for ages is while making a music video and getting it into sync. How do you use just 1 camera and use jump cuts and it still stay in sync. If you could explain any tips that would be great. Thanx :)
@airpartical Sure, the simple solution to that problem is not to use the audio from your camera: when making a music video (unless it's a live performance) get your musician to perform to the track as a guide and then in post overlay the track to sync up with your visuals, this way you can use whatever take you want, whenever you want - a quick tip - the chorus will repeat itself so you can use any chorus take when the artist is singing the chorus, which means lots of choice.
@REELOnlineFilmSchool Hey thanx for your reply that helped me out. One more thing i saw a music video made by someone a few days ago and has loads of jumpcuts in. I forgot to mention that i was using a overlay track already on my music video. I cant really explain fully what i mean so check this vid out its callled Valentine's Day Is Stupid. Its the first one on youtube and it starts at 0:20 to 0:40 thats what im looking to do. Sorry for the long message lol
@airpartical ahh ok I see - well basically he's stood in front of a green screen and so he's keyed in the background to be whatever he wants. Because he's against green it also means he can manipulate his own image - enlarging it/moving it to the right or left etc that gives the jump cut effect, in fact its likely that all the shots he used were from one single take. I dont know whether that helps? keep asking if I'm not on the right track haha :) x
@mukeshnarayan sorry, I can't seem to find the message from you, if you could resend it we'll be more than happy to answer any questions. Sorry that you've had to wait :( x
hi guys! i have made a dolly from a lawn moarer.....it is bit shaky....but it's okay.........i would love to have tutorial on miniatures from you.........we use darkness to hide our lousy miniatures.....but i want to shoot in daylight........
@TheShubhkaran Haha awesome! A lawnmower, now thats what we're talking about! Nice thinking there :D We've actually not done too much work with miniatures, but we'll certainly consider covering them in the future if we get some more experience with them : )
@1Filmproducer hahah don't apologise - we're not claiming to be the first people to have thought of doing something like this, we're just trying to give people ideas. Rodriquez used a wheelchair, you can use one too, or a skate board, or a skooter or out your car window or anything ;) x
@REELOnlineFilmSchool hahaa i like the idea of the car window ;) and good luck wiv ya film btw .. like i said in an other comment.. i cant wait till the behind scenes or posted lol ;)
Great Tutorial again. How about using a steady cam in the place of dolly, can I get the same result of a dolly shot? Can you recommend a low price steady cam for using with Canon550d? I would be writing a personal email to you shortly .
@mukeshnarayan hey there, you certainly could use a steadycam in place of a dolly and get the same results, this obviously depends on the quality of your steadicam and your operating (it can be pretty tricky). The advantage of a proper dolly is that its firstly rock steady and secondly allows you to use longer (heavier) lenses that you'd struggle with using a steadicam (any tiny movement would be amplified on a long lens)Unfortunately i've never used a steadicam with the Cannon so can't help :(
YAY cool vid ive been waiting ages lol . Great vid and i cant wait till you post the behind the scene vids lol. Btw how much is the z1 (just wondering) please
@1Filmproducer they range between £2500 - £3000 new, but its possible to purchase pre owned ones for much less. Glad you liked it anyways, we've got to edit the actual promo before we can spend the time on the behind the scenes, but rest assured that it will be up in time :) x
In all my years of watching DIY dolly tutorials that the people do the same thing over and over and over again I have never seen this DIY dolly tutorial been done. Great job guys, truly remarkable, and truly original. Now if only we can make that taller to get the actors head. LOL (; ) )
Great video guys ! Very creative i would try it myself but i dont think my mum would be very happy if i dismantled the wheelychair im siting on right now!
