No the HDD isn't very noisy. The fans got a little noisy the other day so i opened it up and cleaned out approximately a cats worth of hair! It runs much cooler and quieter now.

Why do you have to complain about Apple not including enough accessories with their product. HP doesn't include a DVI cord with their laptops. The new mini display port is great. You can use it to connect to VGA, DVI, etc. Overall, you're comparing a fossil as far as Apple products go to the latest and the greatest. These two products aren't even in each other's leagues!
