So sad at the news; one learns so much so fast at youtube! She was FEISTY! There is a famous photo of her at a big photo shoot of M-G-M Pictures stars and she got the phone call to come that morning with no chance at hair styling, makeup, whatever, showed up angry as Hell in her raincoat, never took it off and glowered at the camera. She was a great star, one of the greatest, who remained forever down-to-earth and practical. She was very beloved, God bless her.
My mother went to hear Kathryn at the Latin Quarter supper club during this period of her engagement there. She was taken by her mother and grandmother. How fun to see this clip from summer of 1958. I also have a friend who was privileged to take a few private voice lessons with Ms. Grayson in the years prior to her passing.
Nice to hear from someone who had known her personally and can support what many have felt from seeing and hearing her fine performances -that Kathryn was adored,a wonderful person and true to what everybody felt about her.How fortunate we are that so many of those lovely performances remain to be enjoyed for ever!
OH MY GOSH!!!! she died?!!?!?!?!?!?!?! what!?!?!? she's not suppose to die!!! i'm crying now.....i was and am in love with her voice! she was the one who inspired me through her movies and CD's to become a singer! i taught myself how to sing by listening to her! holy crap! i am really sad now!
Read some of the listings on Kathryn on you tube. I wrote some interesting things about her. She is on you tube under" Time After Time." I miss her. She was an angel. She gave voice lessons to many aspiring students and often for nothing. She was a classy ,classy lady and maybe, in her day the most beautiful inner/outer person I ever knew. I did a piece in a music magazine honoring her. Earth's lose is Heaven's gain.
@kgarmaker123 They wanted her to do a tell all book about other stars. She refused. She only wanted to see the goodness in other people Eleanor Powell was easily the most popular person at the studio through 1945. That torch was passed to Kathlyn. She would rather be with the genuine blue collar workers who loved her! When raining 1 day arriving at the studio they put their coats on the ground so she would not get socked. Joan Crawford arrived the same time and they paid little attention.
Of course she was born 1922.That would make her 88. Just pushed the wrong key. I did an autograph show with her in the 80's. She was not only in combination the most physically beautiful and gifted singer whoever graced the screen but a total class act and very humble person off stage. I sorely miss her already. They called her "Kathryn the Great" and that she was, but I call her Kathryn the Angel. Hope you're singing up there beautiful one.The Heavens just got another angel. RIP- thanks KG.
I wrote her a letter on her website. I think she was one of the top beauties. A little bit of a ski jump nose...but what a gorgeous face and smile...even when she was older. Fantastic voice too.
@glawsny she does look good here but I would call her more 'cute' than beautiful. I never really liked her singing either but she was an effective star in the musical era. I always thought she'd have made a perfect snow white had they made a live action version. ;]
What a gorgeous voice.. so well produced..

What a gorrrrgeous woman Kathryn was. Whoever did her eye makeup was a genius, verrry beautiful eye work.
I don't know how this WML segment managed to end up with 4.5 stars.. 5 stars all the way! Thank you so much for sharing this television treasure!
