  • Super bands-super musics!

  • Was a teen in the 80s but I remember alot of this music. I took an appreciation to music as early as 6 and can still remember some of the memories associated with, good as well as bad but I would never trade those memories for anything in the world. I'm sure every generation feels the same.

  • nice try, but the 70's had much better music than this crap.never heard most of these songs. keep trying your blends could be better.

  • The music of one's youth -- esp. teens & 20s -- created the strongest associations in your memory. If you were miserable & lonely in the 70s, the music from that period will remind you of it. It will make you miserable, even if from a critical point of view you admire it. If you were happy in the 80s, you'll have a fondness for the music of that period, even if otherwise you don't care for it.

  • worst of the 70's,almost

  • This song is put together so well.......has everything! Putting young Claire in High Regards was really cool.

  • I was a teenager in the 70s.....best time ever!! :)

  • LO MAXIMOOOOO...

  • i was a teenager in 1970, and i wanted sooo badly to be a les humphries singer :)) would have had d afro 2 go with it.

  • So the likes of FREE, DAVID ESSEX, and, MIDDLE OF THE ROAD were ONE hit wonders???????????? Eh!!! Not to mention the rest. Did you even live through the 70s? I was 16 when that decade rolled in, wouldnt have missed for the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • well we fired our guns and the british kept a coming ............. MEXICOOOOOOOOOOO

  • these r d best songs ever sung

  • That was one of the most retarted music videos ever.

  • born in 1964...teenager in the 70's...too bad the stereo systems weren't better! best music ever made wth shit stereos lol

  • @dcmacleod1 R U kidding? There were shitty stereos then, there are shitty stereos now but the classic equipment from the 70's is still sought after today for its sonic quality. You probably just couldn't afford a decent rig when you were a teenager.

  • Why is everything shit now?

  • I ONLY KNEW 2 OF THESE SONGS AS BEING HITS CLAIRE AND MARIA IVE NEVER HEARD THE OTHER SONG BUT ENJOYED THE VIDEO THANKS

  • last guy, "tony christie?" never heard of 'em. only thing is: that ain't Him singing that one, it's Tom Jones. what's up with the overdub?

  • @drumdude46 re-charge your ears never tom jones pmsl

  • I think music of 70's is beautiiful!

  • For those that think Gilbert O'Sullivan was a pedifile, it was written to make you think he was besotten by a lady, but the words were just fine for a toddler once you knew you'd been had.

I can think of hundreds, literally, of songs in that era that were wonderful and never make the list. I was 11 when Willy Willy Willy Won't go Home, and I thought that song was really fun.

  • I was born in '59 and it was difficult for me to relate to more than a handfull of songs after 1979 except from the very best. I didn't know people didn't like the music of their own generation. I just didn't care for disco or most of the country at that time.

  • I think the 3rd. song sucks big time but the long legged blond girl almost gave me a stiffy.

  • "Claire"...oh I remeber that song fondling...er, I mean FONDLY.

  • YUK!

  • good music in the 70's, when I was a teenager.

  • The 70's was a "hairy" time, everyone looked like cavemen! Well, maybe not everyone.

  • GILBERT O SULLIVAN SHOULD HAVE BEEN ARRESTED JUST FOR WRITING THIS SONG CLAIR .. FOR CHILD MOLESTING .. JUST LISTEN TO THE WORDS..

  • @FIORELLOINVENTIONS we didn't have kiddie fiddling back in the 70's, well obviously there was but without the internet, it wasn't as widespread as it is today. So you can't really apply today's warped standards to a much more innocent time.

  • @FIORELLOINVENTIONS No kidding! And I think there were similar songs out back then too. Grown guys checking out teenagers.

  • Battle of New Orleans. Oh that's funny.

  • Gordan Lightfoot too.

  • i was born in 1968, so i growen up in the 70s,,had some geat times,! & some Great songs,! but can any tell, who the singers, are from 1,45,,?

  • que lindos recuerdosgrasias x compartir

  • Goede compilatie +1

  • I was a teenager in the 70's and it was as good as you imagine it was!

  • @puterzhome Oh yes it was, it almost scares me that I can sing all the words to most of the tunes from the 70's

  • @puterzhome lucky sob

  • @puterzhome Unless you were slogging around in a rice Paddy in Vietnam. Or standign tall quiver at at 0 dawn thirty. Perspective is everthing.

  • @puterzhome Was it really? Fuel crisis began, Viet Nam continued, America just began to see Japan take over manufacturing, government became publicly corrupt with Watergate, the south was extremely racist and the KKK continued to rally, Carter lost to the first terrorist acts on hostages, and AIDs began it's destructive force on the world. As a teenager, you were obliviously stoned on weak marijuana, the abortion movement began, women's lib, crime was on the rise. Yeah, it was what it was.

  • @MrJimdug Hi Jim, greetins from Colombia, Thanks a lot for the info, with that name I have found many, many versions, all country styled, good versions...How ever I prefer the fast 70´s version and finally, thanks to you I have founded the version from Les Humphries Singers - and it is called Mexico as I supposed...Thanks, thanks again.

  • The best time ever in the history of the world to be a teenager.

    Ray

  • @arfurchance10

yes defo i agree.....wonderful times wonderful music..........

  • terrible playbackshows

  • La chanteuse de Midle of the road était magnifique, un top!

  • Hi everybody, I'm Dick Nixon. My admirer Ygor has channeled me. If you folks yearn for the 1970s, I think that's great. I'll open your mail, tap your phone and have your pics filed with the FBI. Oh, and if you feel like marching in the streets, pack some extra clothes. I'll find a way to lock your ass up!! Hee-hee, just kidding.

  • Anyone remember when you could walk down the road in London and not see a million sand niggers and nappy headed immigrants soiling our streets.

  • @vuittion you have such a racist mind.

  • @lararamos26 Since when has music been racist brainless twit!!

  • I don't remember this version of The Battle of New Orleans

  • LOL

  • I love this video!!!!! Thanks for posting this!!!!! I'm totally a hippie!!!!

  • WTF? why are they singing some "Mexico" song??

  • Wow, what a time trip..have to admit that even though I never heard of Middle of the Road, man, a beautiful lead singer w/a micro mini works wonders.

  • @dbd1353 Middle of the was a Scottish pop group who enjoyed success across Europe and Latin America in the early 1970s. Three of their singles sold over one million copies each, and received a gold disc. By early 1972 alone the group had sold over five million records..

Sally Carr the singer still alive and performing

  • @alexdenouden1 Sally Carr forever!

  • Justin should revive this song.

  • Does anyone remember back in the days when you got cereal to get the cardboard record on the back?

  • @bigfez58 LOL I do....I feel so old...

  • I go back to the hayday of the late 60's 70's,unfortunately,i was only 11 when Woodstock was, wish i hatched out of the egg a few years earlier

  • I lived the 60s,70s,80, great 90s til present day stink no Talent Just T&A miley syrus and the lot stink and they start them at 13yrs old Flooding the market with trash. one hit wonder made in a week.. No Gilberts, manilow, humperdinks Neil sadka, Connie Francis.

  • bien ce petit survol des 70's.... j'aime

and thank you to all those who love these years

  • my god ,you could land a plane on that piano

  • Ah, the 70's briliant music, and so memorable nowadays. Gilbert O sulivan is a seriuously underrated singer/sogwriter. Fond memories of the seventies!

As t9 the stories about G.O.S . screwing a young lad, fuck sake, grow up and get a life!

  • Ah, the 70's briliant music, and so memorable nowadays. Gilbert O sulivan is a seriuously underrated singer/sogwriter. Fond memories of the seventies!

  • a great writer and singer, how he capture the stories with his phrasing and agressive voice.

  • Oh my God is this terrible

  • Gilbert O'Sullivans' Alone Again Naturally is the better song ;)

  • Great memories... superb sound!!!

  • Nice song.......

  • MEXICO!!!!

  • "Claire" was a pretty good - sized hit in the USA. I'll take "Get Down" , personally , out of anything Gilbert O'Sullivan ever did. "Mexico" is an adaptation of Johnny Horton's "Battle of New Orleans" , a big hit , probably anywhere but England , where Lonnie Donnegan released a version with altered lyrics. Hey, it's FUN to see this stuff , whether you like the songs or not.

  • @pfordsq Gilbert O"Sullivan was a pedophile who was screwing an under aged lad in Scotland named Claire who he turned into a heroin addicted prostitute.

  • @MrRichardKraniun I've never heard that , but , you have to remember , Gilbert O' Sullivan is largely forgotten in the states , save for 3 or 4 Pop hits that are virtually never played on Oldies radio.

  • @MrRichardKraniun what pish, you're a moron. Claire was the daughter of his manager. Don't make accusations when you know f all. You are aptly named.

  • Must've been a personal favourite for the uploader I guessing he's over fifity now, I missed it but i don't miss it

  • Yikes. Not great.

  • have the boffins invented a time-machine yet?, if so send me back to 1975 and set the switch to "never to return".....lol

  • @dioclese You'd still have to relive the 80's.

  • These songs were all hits in the europe. Sorry for the american you mist it!

  • No hits here.

  • For all you people who are naysaying of this music, may I ask: How many Gold albums do you have to your name or group? These songs are all certified Gold. And in the early 70's you could not go 15 minutes on the radio without hearing one of them.

Why listen if you have no appreciation of music for the sake of music.

Oh, right, it has no words like shit, fuck, queer, hate or bigotry in them so they are not good, right?

    Great memories and pure music.

    Joseph F

    Portland, OR USA

  • @B52sguy That`s completely correct. I agree.

  • I must have been stoned those years cause I never heard of any of those songs.

  • @wayneswhls These songs where big nr 1 hits that sold millions, in Europe and Latin America

  • weird............. I love it!

  • Damn, Gilbert has a BIG piano. He must be overcompensating for something.

  • @ravenwhitechapel i agree with u

  • who the fuck r these losers they werent on any American hit lists...

  • Shit music from a shit decade. Let's move forward and forget the 70's. They sucked.

  • @TheChuck624 Then WHY would you click on a video titled Medley Pop Hits of the 70s?

But I agree that these songs were NOT a significant part of Americana 70's music. From what rock did these songs come from?

  • @msk7046 He probably thought it WAS a medley of pop hits of the 1970s just as I did. God only knows where you dredged up these...

  • Could you really get away with a song like Claire now

although innocent at the time. What would the pc brigade and the thought police

    make of it today

  • NEVER HEARD THAT SONG "MEXICO" BEFORE....IT IS GREAT !!!! THANKS FOR UPLOADING, MY FRIEND ....

I was a teenager in the 1970s, which I consider the last free decade...free from worry of so many horrible things my kids have to worry about...I consider the 70s or the 50s (based on my mom and dad's memories) to be the best decades to be a teen. The 60's and all the rest - just yuck.

  • @rodjen700 I was ! great times! miss those days forever !

  • @redgrapeskins maybe the 60s --- that decade was great as well -- never sell that short!!!

  • @redgrapeskins I love the 70's very much it was my hay day back then, but this must be a british thing as I don't know any of the acts. I'm more into bands like Heatwave, Earth Wind and Fire, the Gap band. Yes ,REO speed wag, Crosby stills nash, Paul simon andy kim etc. peace and mood rings for all

  • i hope the the totally self obsorbed group singing mexico brushed there teeth.

the crowd could have walked out and they wouldnt have noticed! they thought they were that shithot,,,,,,

none of these groups represent the seventies properly

  • Don't panic guys. This may be the "Christian" side of the 70's. I can't say I've ever even heard of 99% of this stuff, and I lived through the 70's. This is probably from somewhere in the US, maybe somewhere in the bible belt. And it's bringing back good memories for whoever posted this. That's all fine. But that's not the 70's I know.
