There are worse things to worry about than Punk bands being on major labels. Actually it can be a good thing. I may be wrong but didn't Anti-Flag do 2 albums on a major, made heaps of money and then set up their own recording studio ? The album that followed "Bright Lights of America" which got some negative reviews, I think is their best ! And Didn't Chumbawamba become a household name and make loads of money from the one hit they had on EMI, and were then dropped by EMI anyway ?
Well, what a bunch of un-needed, whiney, shit playing, shit dressing, manufactured wank. And to think that Mr. Joeseph would be turning and throwing up in his blessed grave this very moment. Leave it in London.
i don't really know what to think about anti-flag anymore. I mean, they're good, but i think they're more into activism then they are into punk. like they've always been into activism, but now it's gone further. i think. atleast you can take them seriously. but, they may need a bigger record label to get their ideas out there. tough call, really. but i would feel stupid buying they're new album from Target.
there is nothing wrong with being on a major label if it benefits the band. as long as they still make the music they want to. look at green day. everyone called them sellouts when they went to reprise, but their sound didnt change for two albums at which point they grew up and their tastes changed. and just coz somethings popular doesnt mean its bad. judge music by what you hear, not by what you see.
they only band i ever thought really sold out is AFI. Listen to like there first five records (really their first three) and tell me they didn't sell out.
a new kind of army and die for your goverment were such impacts on me. now look at em. on the homepage to myspace with their big name label, singing about who knows what!
for the record, i always thought that ant-flag really had the same feel and energy that the clash had in their prime....
the clash were on a major label, the ramones were on a mojor label, the fuckin' sex pistols were on three and they're the three greatest punk bands ever............for christ sake get over it
yea im fucking sick of people saying every band is a sell out. it doesnt matter if theyre underground or not or what label theyre on, it just matters on what music they make!
bare in mind, at the time of the clash, ramones and the pistols, you pretty much HAD to be on a major label to make an influence and be heard. nowadays thanks to new media and the internet an indepent record band can go even further than a major label band.
welll the clash were on major label, samoe with the ramoens and the pistols..... in other words: GET OVER IT its the music that counts, since when did "punks" get so snobby?
i agree with youngskin, when i was getting into punk they had just put out die for the government and they were awesome...but they deffinetly are shit now.
Most of the people who really like this band are just getting into Punk. I remember when I was just entering the Punk scene, I loved them. Now I wouldn't give two shits if they came to town and had a free show.

you're right!!! I loved them when I started to listen to punk, but when you know what punk is you know that they have not much to do with punk.

I don't particularly care for Anti-Flag too much, but this cover is fantastic. Much better than Audioslaves.

This is what I'm talking about! A great band covering an even greater band's song and doing it well! Anti-Flag fucking rules!
