Some people obviously doesn't "get" what crispin is about nor knows the artistic meaning behind his films. I'm certain those same people who don't get & judge it from the surface are probably the ones who know him from a few of his films & expected his film to be quirky like his characters. If you don't know exactly what you're paying for then I suggest people go to comic conventions where most movie actors will be the audiences puppet...as long as you pay them.
Cripsin Glover is fucked up in the head. You get the feeling If he wasnt making movies he'd be picking up runaways and killing them. I hate when people think shit like this is "art". No. Not at all. This is not art, cinema, or anything. Its just a pile of horsehit,
@BigDaddyDJD Have you seen it, or are you just talking about this trailer...I've seen it, and I think it's great..BTW, I've met him and hung out with him a couple of times in NYC...He's completly normal.
Are you one of those people who think that art is something that cannot be disturbing?
I'm a fine artist and also a film producer...I'm of the mind that "Art" has to be something that not everyone can accomplish...Even though the dictionary defines it as anything that moves you in some way..
Plot summary: Down's Syndrome "actors" killing snails with salt and razors. Some T&A (you've seen most of it in the trailer). Fairuza Balk screaming every 10 minutes. Adam Parfrey in black face; Ooh, offensive! (To a 10 year old.) Add some nice awkward full frontal of a senior with cerebral palsy and a racist country song and Voila!
A pretentious pile of crap I spent $18 and 4 hours of my life to see (he makes you sit through his slide show and has PAINFUL Q&As after as well.)
I've been waiting for a movie that might be on par with "The Holy Mountain".
Any movie that might broaden your horizons, at least have you asking questions should be done with careful self consideration. Seek your own path but try to keep it illuminated by truths that you know by more than your own mind. It is not the destination that makes life interesting, it is the journey, it is the trinity within us all, the heart, the mind and the spirit that exemplify our own awareness.
Just seeing this preview, and being very familiar with Jodorowsky's film, I'd have to strongly disagree with "cinemavirtualis" -- Parfrey isn't as full of himself as Jodorowsky and isn't as cocksure as Lynch. The result is far more honest and exhilirating than what either of them could have produced, and all that in one minute thirty three seconds.
Ive watched the internet bootleg version of "What Is It", and I can honestly say that its one of the worst things Ive ever sat thru. I love films by Jodorowsky and Lynch, but this film was just offensive, pretentious, amateurish garbage. Even a friend who is a big fan of Crispin thought it was nearly unwatchable. Ill go out of my way to skip the sequels. But thanks for posting anyway!
