Strontium 90 is a radioactive isotope that is present in our environment. It is similar to calcium, so if you don't absorb enough calcium in your diet you will also absorb (SR-90) from the environment. Likewise if you obtain sufficient potassium from your diet your body will be less likely to absorb any radioactive cesium 137 it encounters.
This video just further reinforces my personal concerns. I felt this was likely to happen as a result of the japan meltdown but many friends and family think I'm nuts for even mentioning it. Makes me bummed no one close to me cares about this potential disaster and why no media coverage? A news story would legitimise this because people only worry about what the news says.

@look2explore You must have missed it. The reactors at Fukushima went into meltdown a day and a half after the tsunami in March. Radiation has been falling across the globe starting the third week in March when it reached the eastern shore of the United States.
@RandleEl11 Actually the reactors melted down a few hours after the tsunami and loss of power. It doesn't take long for a reactor to melt down once the cooling has stopped. I heard one report that it happens within 90 minutes of a power failure.

@look2explore Hey, Update: it has a min. of 3 major meltdowns. And probably 1 - 3 extra meltdowns in the spent fuel pools. The last news from NHK was that the success of six month of work is at reactor no. 1 that they have a cooling line with a stable 100 °C? do you know what this means? Cooking several tons of water? that means there is no containment - when water is cooking under pressure it's getting hotter than 100°C. Look at the Fukushima night videos you can see the steam it's the carrier.

@khristine112 They took the radiation maps offline months ago. Connectingdots used to broadcast those maps every day, until they took them offline, one by one, until there were no more to be found. The one in the video is probably an old report from the first month after the disaster.

@mauibrad good point yet why bother now?? we're all irradiated! If your in the North American Continent then you've most likely breathed in at least 12 hot particles already. I do want everyone to stay as SAFE as possible...But lets be real this is in the food in the water in the air.... unless your bubble boy. @look2explore You must have missed it. The reactors at Fukushima went into meltdown a day and a half after the tsunami in March. Radiation has been falling across the globe starting the third week in March when it reached the eastern shore of the United States.

@RandleEl11 Actually the reactors melted down a few hours after the tsunami and loss of power. It doesn't take long for a reactor to melt down once the cooling has stopped. I heard one report that it happens within 90 minutes of a power failure.

@look2explore Hey, Update: it has a min. of 3 major meltdowns. And probably 1 - 3 extra meltdowns in the spent fuel pools. The last news from NHK was that the success of six month of work is at reactor no. 1 that they have a cooling line with a stable 100 °C? do you know what this means? Cooking several tons of water? that means there is no containment - when water is cooking under pressure it's getting hotter than 100°C. Look at the Fukushima night videos you can see the steam it's the carrier.

I sent a plea letter to Arnie Gunderson just recently, and its because of connecting the dots efforts, and the scant info I'm pulling off of UCBerkely's Nuclear site. AG has done amazing reporting, truly a hero, but I've asked him to open up US West Coast, Canadians eyes. There has been no warnings at all. He will be responding to public shortly...

Could be, but in the end of march around I saw some videos here on YouTube with radar images showing a straight line weather breach pushing the west cost weather to the north, to Alaska. This would explain the Canada situation. But 20.000 CPM is not just a high rate! We need better testing equipment in private hands !!!

@propylaeen no, I do not think 20,000 cpm readings are from UCB... yes, the jet streams/rainfall are the predominate factor in Canada's fallout acid rain. I trust only "Arnie Gunderson" and the "students" at UCB, since the faculty is getting heat from gov. they are tied up w/USGS, NOAA ect... who are holding back info (proven in YT vid's by Dutchsinse and others)
Currently-- UCBerkeley is putting "some" readings out there, milk,spinach,soil... hope I'm more clear in my comments

@khristine112 They took the radiation maps offline months ago. Connectingdots used to broadcast those maps every day, until they took them offline, one by one, until there were no more to be found. The one in the video is probably an old report from the first month after the disaster.
