  • I believe the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching. Therefore self-avowed practicing homosexuals should not to be ordained as ministers, or appointed to serve in the Church.

  • Keep yourself open-minded. You seem, at least when you did this video, that you are extremely passionate and honest. I have watched churches split and split and split over years. The Church of Jesus Christ makes the US Congress look agreeable. You are quite correct on the Greek words. I have watched The Bible, wrongly interpreted, divide AND conquer Christians. I commend your open heart. BRIAN

  • @redbrian3655 We have become so open-minded in America that our brains are falling out.

  • @redbrian3655 Being open minded is a good thing. I find very little good about liberalism in America.

  • @redbrian3655 Life is full of choices. You should choose more carefully :-)

  • @cavereric I was going to be nice and patient with you, but now I will not. You need to stop telling me and others what we should do. If you do not like what I say or believe, then you don't have to, but you do not ned to tell me how to make choices.....and don't leave a smiley face either.

  • @redbrian3655 You tell me what to do while telling me not to tell you what to do. I didn't tell you how to make choices. I will do whatever i choose to do without any worry of what you think or say. You sound angry, bitter, and unhappy. Why would I listen to you?

  • @cavereric so why did you choose this to write about? What worries me is your liberalism and your ironic smiles. Writing those things behind the screen it's also a little sissy from your part.

  • AHEM,,, finish the verse dude: nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. Are THEY allowed to serve? Where is this magic list of "priority sins"? How about Gluttony? Have any chubby, divorced people serving? Did Jesus not die and cleanse all those sins my brother?

  • This 'debate' was ended in the early church. Read the Didache and the Early Church Fathers. It was over then, any move to pretend that their unanimous certainty was incorrect, is heresy. If people vote that the truth is one thing and then later vote that the truth is the exact opposite, one must ask which vote expressed God's will? Your Church has no authority to define God's will and so there will always be confusion.

  • I M A DEACON TOO AT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN PUERTO RICO AND YESTERDAY OUR PASTOR TALK ABOUT THAT AND WELL WE WERE SURPRISED AND WELL WE ARE AGAINST THIS AMEND AND WELL I PUT MY FAITH IN GOD THAT HE CAN CHANGE THIS BECAUSE IT IS A SIN AND WELL IS NOT IN THE BIBLE LETS KEEP PRAYING HOPING THAT GOD CAN MAKE A MIRACLE

  • The greatest knot upon liberty is the praeterpolitical power of the churches to institute monogamy as an ecclesiastic rule of law, thereby enabling them to determine the legitimacy of the succession of the pagan kings and abrogate the natural rights to property and self-defense.

Ecclesiastics would have men believe they will receive condign punishment for their contumacy of monogamy, as opposed to the freedom of the polygamy found in nature, which is inherently pagan.

  • If it's a sin, do you really want to be on the side of the ones allowing leaders that are actively sinning against God into the church?

  • Paul used arsenekoitai because it combined the two words used in Leviticus (LXX) prohibiting homosexuality. Paul often makes up his own words, combining two familiar terms. The issue with homosexuality is not its connection to pagan idolatry but creative intent. Paul speaks of this in Rom 1 where he uses the clear example of homosexuality as something that people exchange the glory of God for. God created marriage to show Christ and the Church. Homosexuality hides this beautiful picture.

  • @aj633 Thank you for that. I've never heard the combining thing before. Could you write more about it please? God bless!

  • @nluzwick1 The OT forbids men (Gk arsenos) going to bed (koitai) with other men. Paul combines these two words, which should call to mind the Leviticus passage to a reader familiar with the Greek OT (which Paul usually assumes his readers are). Jews universally rejected homosexuality, which is why Jesus never dealt with the topic (a common argument made by liberals). Paul had to take up the discussion when the gospel moved beyond the Jews to Gentiles. He agrees with established Jewish teachings.

  • Correct...the PCUSA is an apostate church...they do not recognize the infallibilty and inerrancy of Gods word...they are foolish and blinded by their how pride and ignorance. I grew up in the PCUSA churches in Cincinnati and was laugh at when i told them that I had become a "born again" Christian according to the truth of Gods Word. Praise you Lord... tear down this apostate church..brick by brick !!

  • @icthus2010 The PCUSA does believe that the bible is the true inspired word of God. Maybe there are some churches in the denomination that doesn't. But You can judge a church by it's fruit and I have seen the fruit that my church has put forth, Helping the poor, clothing the naked ect all while doing it in the name of Christ.

I see fundamentalist churches and there is hatred and name calling and I don't see the fruits of the spirit, Love Joy Peace ect.

  • @icthus2010 I will continue to question and look. Christ is the center of my church. I was an agnostic before I found Christ Prez and I was born again and brought to this church.

I see Pat Robertson,, the Family, and other fundamentalist churches that support gov policies that hurt the poor, supported vicious dictators around the world becuase they claimed to be born again Christians even though they slaughtered their own people.

You can tell what a chuirch is by it's fruit.

  • @icthus2010 one could say that fundamentalist churches are the apostate churches because they have become like the pharasees of old. trying to serve money and God, condemning and not loving. Mixing with the politics of this fallen world where fear, anger, greed, and pride rule instead of walking God's walk.

But thank you for your concern

  • @icthus2010 I am also sorry that people from your church made fun of you for tellimng them that you were Born Again. That was wrong and if everyone there thinks that then I would agree with you that might be an apostate church

but not all churches in the PCUSA are like that, a couple weeks ago my associate pastor had a sermon on John 3 and made it clear that we had to be born again in the spirit otherwise we will not have the fruits of the spirits because we are focused on more earthly things

  • Do you think that God gives God's gifts to people for no reason?

  • Pediastry is greek for homosexual? I don't know what method you use to translate but my translation of arsenakoi and Malakos. These words do not have anything to do with what group of people a person belonged to or what their actions were. One of the words means the man who allows himself to be penetrated by another man and the other means the man who penetrates another man. Those words have nothing to do with whether a person was promiscuous or monogamous.

  • you use the archaic word 'homosexual.' in the 21st century, intelligent people say "gay."

  • I feel for you, as I can hear the pain -- that the church would even consider such things. I should clarify that there are good Bible-believing PCUSA out there, and I'm happy you found one of them.

You are right to be concerned about the PCUSA and the "many ways to heaven" issue. This and also denominational publications demonstrate they do not consider the Bible to be authoritative, and even believe the OT to be mere fairy tales . . . .

  • I can definitely feel your pain in your video -- that the church would do even consider these things. There are no easy answers regarding what we should DO regarding homosexuality in society. But the Bible is clear that we are not to condone or sanction sin. Jesus loved sinners, but He never condoned their behavior. "Go, and sin no more." We are to love and have compassion upon all people, but we don't condone sin, and we certainly don't ordain those living in willful sin.

  • My heart goes out to you because I can hear your pain and confusion -- how the church can do such things. I should clarify, as well; The PCUSA as a denomination and in its publications has made it abundantly clear that the Bible is not authoritative, and that much of the OT is a fairy tale. I know, too, that there are some solid PCUSA churches and pastors out there; I'm glad you found one of them. I am NOT a Bible scholar, so I won't attempt to get into it all, but I do disagree w you . . .

  • no debate - it is wrong. Who cares what these people think? God's Word is crystal clear!

  • @jwbrady1981 I do have a question though, you think we should legislate sexual morality, IE no gay marriage because of what the Bible says, should we legislate morality in the boardroom as well? Because conservatives want to legislate sexual morallity but they don't want to when it comes to business ethics and morality and Jesus talked about that much more than he talked about sexuality.

Although while liberals want to legislate business morality, they don't want to legislate any sexual

  • @jwbrady1981

If someone is a same gender lover, then that must be because God made them that way. It is not a choice. If it was just a simple choice, then even i could fall in love with a man. I have faith that God has made those people like they are. It is just the humans who make it "wrong". Please remember that the Bible has been written by humans, and that God is in all of us. God and Jesus loves everyone.

  • @jwbrady1981 Indeed...GOD loves and excludes no one.

  • @samnmman That's why I think that the biblical opposition to homosexuality is against homosexuality in pagan worship, rape, and the pagan greek practice of older men having sex with younger effeminate men. It has nothing to do with a loving monogamous relationship. You are right that GOD loves and excludes no one, that said I do believe that people living a life of promiscuity weather hetrosexual or homosexual are not saved until they repent of that behavior

  • @AVoiceCrying33 I could not agree with you more.

  • @AVoiceCrying33 but what about sexual relations between two men? Wouldn't that be included? Isn't sex for those who are married? And isn't a Marriage under God between a man and a woman?

  • @AVoiceCrying33 The paganism argument ignores the fact that the biblical argument against homosexuality is tied to creation. Paganism is broader than what is done in pagan worship. Paganism in the Bible is everything that stands in opposition to God's perfect creation. It is not confined to what happens in a temple or in the high places. It encompasses all of life. That's why Paul uses homosexuality as an example in Romans 1.

God is love, but love is not God. That's the problem with liberalism.

  • @AVoiceCrying33 AMEN, brother!

  • Please consider that the PCUSA does not acknowledge the infallibility and authority of scripture. They can make an argument, but it's not based on God's Word. The church is called to live sanctified lives. We are to love and have compassion for all men, but we are not to call a sin a lifestyle choice. Would Christ has kicked them out of the church? What did He do to those selling their wares in the temple? He kicked them out. However He would have loved and had compassion upon them.

  • @klompen222 Actualy the PCUSA Does at least the authority of scripture, that scripture is divinly inspired. I don't believe the bible is inerrent, It is written by the Holy Spirit but through the hand of fallible man, the accounnts of Peter meeting Jesus differ from John 1 40 and Matthew 4 21

  • @klompen222 in John 1 41The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ). 42And he brought him to Jesus and in Matthew 4 18As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

  • @klompen222 These are 2 contrary events, but do I make in any less the Word of God, no. John was writing when he was older and his memory might of failed him there, either that or Matthew was mistaken, but either way it was fallible man but still Divine. It is story of divine redemption that the bible is and if we take it to literaly we can err from God I believe

  • @klompen222 I am more concerned that only 1 out of 3 PCUSA say that Jesus is the only way to salvation, I find that more disturbing and more frightening.

You may be right about the PCUSA although my individual pastor does believe that Jesus is the only way. But I do no the George Bush/Sarah Palin/ fundamentalist Christianity is not the way either.

I feel like I have to choose between an apostate church or a hypocritical fundamentalist church

  • @klompen222 Sorry for venting. I love God so much, Before i was born again 2 years ago this September, I was angry and cynical and thought that humanity was doomed to destroy itself and there was no hope, that all Christianity was was control, hypocrisy and abuses and He opened my eyes and my heart and led me to a PCUSA church and I felt home and I see the Holy Spirit working and I feel the love of God and my fellow man and then things like this makes me confused

  • Did the Scriptures fall from the sky today? The (Orthodox) Church has been reading and interpreting the Scriptures with one mind and one voice for 2,000 years, has the Church been wrong the entire time? When Protestantism insists on rejecting the Tradition of the Apostles (1 Thes 3:6), the Evil One can find a way to make the Scriptures say anything that he wants, just as he used the Scriptures to tempt Christ in the desert. Please see this very good vid

  • getreligion[dot]org/?p=38791

(replace "[dot]" with actual dots of course)

  • sorry, I meant "2 Thes 3:6"

  • You sound so confused, you are in conflict, with your thoughts and what you know to be right. Eyes on God and nothing else.

Simple statement. God will have mercy on who he will have mercy. People are imperfect why worry so much about it?

  • and, um, aw

  • In some large cities The salvation army (a christian organization) who receives public funds, has decided rather than be forced to allow (by state law) gay adoption, they will completely close down their charity to ALL those in need. There are many examples of gays (even celibate gays) being kicked out of churches. Is this what jesus would do?

  • Hmmm...

  • i understand but the society we live in will debate us and what we as Christians think.

however, what can we do beside protest and have arguments about homosexuality we can't stop them because they have their rights as a american to do what they please.too me all we can do is except them for who they are because i believe one day they will have a change of heart .and in the end they will change their life style. so don't stress about it. just trust in the lord Jesus christ

  • @yurraazumi14 Sometimes it seems that is all we can do Trust in Jesus. God Bless you

  • @AVoiceCrying33 God bless you too. CONGRATULATION Max for becoming a bishop

  • @yurraazumi14 Thank you but it is a deaconship, i am nervous to be ordained but I know that God wouldn't call me if I wasn't able to do it :)
