I'm sorry, but from a logical viewpoint, there were many opportunities for Batman to get shot: like when he was abducting that Chinese crime lord at his office and he stood there for like 5 minutes until the plane arrived. Or when he was fighting Jokers goons, plenty of time there. Or when he was surrounded at the construction sight and made those units fall off the ledge, that was more than enough incentive for the snipers to shoot.

What logic applies to Spdier-Man doesn't apply to Batman.

@WystenDraco actually, they really did flip over that truck with strings and so forth. the director wanted to avoid as much CGI as possible. However, i think the truck wasn't moving when they flipped it.

Spider-Man webbing are designed for the use of his own enhanced body to withstand it, Gwen neck snapped because it couldn't handle the stress. If Spider-Man caught her with Batman grappling hook she should have been fine (considering it is designed for the use of normal humans).

Some people may criticize Bale's Batman voice, but I think it's an okay one. It's all a tactic; he has two completely different voices for Batman and Bruce Wayne so that nobody reckognizes Wayne's voice. I really don't understand why fanboys keep saying it's like he has throat cancer.

His cape can be used as some sort of hangglider, so what TheTurnipKing say is true, it's controlled falling.

But with real flying it's also possible to up again, which only can if you use a way of propeltion like an engine or a rocket or know how to use thermic airstreams.

And probalby the batman's cape (as a hangglider) is to small to carry his own weight.

The Batman's you've seen before on film and TV haven't bothered to do that, they've just slightly lowered their voices or haven't bothered to alter them at all. Bale has actually put effort in to lift Batman from the comic book and graphic novels to the big screen.

Well, with Gwen Stacy, she was falling sideways when Spidey caught her by her feet, causing her body to whiplash. Plus it's never been confirmed whether Gwen was alive before she fell, or Green Goblin had snapped her neck beforehand.

Joker fell straight down and Bats caught him by his feet, slowing his momentum to a halt. Notice how Joker didn't stop right away.

And besides the 'franchise' of batman and the villains of Gotham is centered around BATMAN; I doubt if it was without batman and only the joker it would have been as successful. The joker wouldn't have been an intense and powerful character had he not someone equal to his strength as a character. Joker needs batman, but batman does not necessarily need joker; see his rogues gallery.
