Deodato made a wise move by getting out of Brazil - over here this sort of instrumental, jazzy arrangement would never be valued and recognized, at least not since the early 1970s. Instrumental music in Brazil is pretty much non-existant since the haydays of prog rock - and don't get me started on classical music.
If Deodato stayed in Brazil he would be an obscure musician, or sell out to mediocrity as Chico Buarque did in the 90s and 2000s.
No cabe duda que el buen gusto y la buena mùsica no tiene vigencia, mientras lo conservemos en nuestros corazones, no importa el tiempo ni la època. Esta es una excelente versiòn a la clàsica de Glen Miller. Versiòn 5 *****.
LOVE Deodato! Have Rhapsody & Zarathrustra in my favorites playlists. Listened to him at full volume on the way into work this a.m. Never gets old...
this is from the album"Whirlwinds" which i have,i also have"Prelude", the album with "Also Sprach Zarathustra". Deodato's music is a smooth as silk, ilove it!
What a beautiful cover, I'm sure even Glenn Miller would love it. Deodato is and always will be the best in Latin/Jazz/Funk/Fusion whatever you want to call it, he's the master.
YEah. Deodato ....Live! in Manila. 1974. I was 12 then. We have 2 of his vynil records and they;re still with us. Great music from a talented man. I can still remember a picture from his concert: shirtless and bottle of cold San Miguel beer on his keyboard. I thought he was the coolest guy on the planet then hahahaha. Still cool
oh,,YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHHH! ! ! ! ! i remember 1974-1975 in acapulco , we used to play this moonlight serenade i was playing the congas an timbales with LOS DOMINIC `S (martin roca) wow watta fun then and now that i lestend YEEEAAAHHH BBBAAABBBYY......
Deodato did a concert in Manila back in late 1974 at the Araneta Coliseum. He was quite popular with the younger set back then. After 36 years, he's returning to Manila to do some concerts. I liked him then, still like him now.
I am 16 years old again. Bring it on! I can tackle anything. Depression, anxiety.... to the garbage! Music like this is all I want and need. Yeah! No to antidepressants. No to anxyolitics! Give music. God bless Brazil! God bless planet earth!
Thanks so much for posting this. This is such a wonderful version of the original; I have ALWAYS liked this version since I began listening to Deodato in my teens back in the late 80's (my YouTube user name is in tribute to him, as you might guess, and has been that way for a long time). The hauntingly beautiful electric piano ride-out from 7:40 onward is simply fantastic, especially nice with headphones on, as you can hear it pan back and forth in stereo, very cool 70's effect!
am glad there's youtube! Deodato is back and he is here to stay. an alltime favorite and i don't care if my age gives off, am so blest i was already around when he first played this music.
@msaf72860 Itś is sad I was not around when he fist played, but a few years ago, my uncle gave me a LP with "Also Sprach Zarathustra" and I was just amazed by it. Love his work.

EUMI DEODATO É MUITO BOM
PORÉM FICO TRISTE EM VER SÓ COMENTÁRIOS EM INGLÊS OU OUTRA LINGUA - ISSO PROVA QUE O POVO BRASILEIRO NÃO CONHECE SEU PRÓPRIOS ARTISTAS. UMA PENA.
