@joe035 No I really cant, what is worse is the support Romney is getting, that truly scares me. well sir, perhaps you should stop drinking the obama coolaid and star looking at the big picture. cuz while you are picking the pocket of the man in front of you, there is someone picking your pocket too. socialism is not the wqay to go for this country my friend.
ur stupidity makes me feel better about how progressives will hold the mantle of power for quite awhile. who said anything about socialism. having free healthcare isnt socialism its making sure people dont die for no good reason. only sick fuckers like you would politicize it.
@sirdaveysockrocker Fast forward two years - the economy is in shambles, millions have lost their jobs and homes, over $3 trillion has been added to the national debt, millions take to the streets to protest Obama's evil plan for America, Obama's evil agenda has been soundly rejected by the voters, the Democrats suffer the worst electoral defeat since 1928, and the door hits Keith Overbite in the ass on the way out the door at MSDNC... Perhaps Madcow shouldn't have gloated so much....
@sirdaveysockrocker The problem is no one knows the difference of a liberal. progressive or democrat. All should ban under 1 new identity Ineptocrats.
Ineptocracy (in-ep-toc’-ra-cy) - a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.
So if I decide I don't want Obama's progressive agenda of tax and spend, will the government force me to comply? Of course. That's Democracy, right? Yes indeed. But that's not Freedom, that's not Liberty. Democracy doesn't give us that choice.
Choice? What kind of choice is it when freedom-loving Americans are given a choice between (more) Red-State Fascism and a "Progressive" canditate (i.e. Blue-State Fascism)?
I don't recall having a choice to vote for my own freedom, to vote for a candidate that promised NOT to run my life.
I am a Blue Dog democrat; and i voted for Obama and i voted against a measure like prop 8 in Texas back in 2006, this country is center right, as for intelligent commentary ask your self who are the most loyal democratic voting block it's black people we are social populist as well as Hispanics a democrats most loyal voting blocks. What block makes up the republican base evangelicals 65%. Minorities only vote democrat because their economic liberals.

News-flash to Rachel:
Herbert Hoover did all kinds of crazy intervention in the economy... causing the depression.
FDR only made things worse by outdoing Hoover on the intervention.
Obama doesn't have a clue. He will be encouraged to Spend Spend Spend. And he will. This will only slow recovery. It is possible Obama will finally break the dollar in the process. Lord help us all at that point.
There is nothing wrong with spending in the RIGHT THINGS--it's called an investment. People are mad about spending, but the government is going to spend regardless. Most likely on things that have nothing to do with the actual people whose money it is. I have no problem investing my money into education, and helping people get back on their feet during this financial crisis. Republicans take your money and give it to the rich to get richer as we all slide through the cracks.
For all those US right-wing YouTubers out there predicting Obama's failure; is that what U really want? Do U want the country to be left deeper in the sewer than it is now? Regardless of who U voted 4, U should B hoping Obama can bring the change he's promised. 4 all the Obama supporters who voted w/out researching the issues; U have 2 B realistic; change will not happen in 1 month, 6 months, 1 year. It will take a while B4 the US sees significant change.
What's your definition of "change"? Nothing important will change under Obama. I don't hope he fails, but it is painfully obvious that no significant, revolutionary changes will be made. He's just a Democratic president, we've had plenty of those and Obama is no different. Under him we will see things indicative of Democrat rule. In 10-20 years it will be back to Republicans. Anyone who believes Obama's "change" is going to be some great thing will be disappointed.
Why are people being so negative when you haven't even given him the chance to see what he is going to do yet? And you can't judge a president by what others have done in the past. Look at Bush Jr. Do you think ALL republican presidents are like him? Obviously not. Too much generalizing and negativity here. We need to ALL band together and support our new president. As citizens, whatever he needs from us, we should be giving in order to get things back in order.
Trust me, I do hope the best under an Obama presidency. I didn't vote for him (or McCain), I'm just curious; what is an Obama supporter's definition of "change"? Yeah, we've gone from a Republican to a Democrat, and he's the first African American president, which is great, other than that there's nothing revolutionary about him. He's an excellent speaker and sold his ideas well, but in 4-8(?) years, I think people who believe everything is going to be great now under him will be disappointed.
After 8 years of Bush, what is revolutionary is to have a president in office that is actually intelligent. What is revolutionary is to have a president that DOESN'T own 13 cars and 8 houses. One who has worked from the bottom up and is not part of the Good Ole Boy's club. What is revolutionary is that we have a president who knows what it's like to be a real person. He understands the needs of the people. My question is, did you vote at all? And if so, for you. Just a question...curious...
Also, I was going to say, Clinton--as far as economy made great changes in 8 years. We had a budget surplus and we also cut the national debt. So here's my definition of "change": Going from a good economy with jobs to the worse financial disaster in the history of the US. That is a change for sure. My question is: Obama is not even president yet. How can you judge what he will or will not do? We don't know him as a president yet. Don't you think it's unfair to prejudge?
I voted for Bob Barr, the libertarian. And I'm not judging him, I really hope that all of the hype is going to lead to greatness, I am just very skeptical. Obama cannot "fix" the economy, no president can. It's up to the markets. Look at the massive bailout, it did almost nothing to help the overall economy (except a few big companies). I hope Obama does well, but I think people who believe he is going to fix all of our problems in a matter of time are going to be disappointed.
I am just wondering about this negative projection about the future of Obama's Presidency, because thoughts become things. So once you start a negative thought, it will manifest in one way or another. Being skeptic is very natural, but to say, w/ such certainty as many people have, that his presidency will be a flop befor he is even taken office is not only unfair, I don't think it's good for the person who feels that way. You are projecting negativity before anything has occured. ie. The secret
I don't mean to come off as negative. Just like you're wondering about the negative projections, I'm wondering about the exceedingly optimistic sentiment of the millions of supporters. Many people think he is the solution to all of our problems, but if in 4 years things aren't better, people will be more angry than ever. I think the public expects too much from him, any failure on his part will be blown out of proportion. If he does well (my hope), then great. Maybe I'm just overly skeptical.
That's the problem. We should expect more from our gov't. At the very least, our leaders should be intelligent; we should have confidence that even if they don't make the right decision, that at least they tried to make an INFORMED decision. Although Obama won't be able to get us to 100%, I believe he is really committed to do the best he can. Unlike Bush who was a functional illiterate. Obama Graduated Magna Cum Laude. I believe you'll see a difference! Smarts count.
I agree to an extent, but gov't serves an important purpose. Public schools, roads, public programs, etc are things that the gov't regulates. We can say, gov't shouldn't be a part of our lives, but it is. Gov't will not disappear. The problem is that the gov't should work in the best interest of the people for whom it serves and represents. Deregulation in business was one of the reasons the economy got out of control. Greed and mismanagement is the real problem. Not gov't itself.
Those are the things state governments regulate, not the federal government. The federal government's main purpose is to protect its people. The economy actually got out of the control when Woodrow Wilson allow the Federal Reserve to come into being. It helped cause the greatest depression in our history, and ever since the signs that we're heading towards recession have been staring us in the face and we look away. It is that regulation that brought us here. Ran out of room to explain...
That's your opinion, you state it as if it is fact. Though you may believe the state govts should be regulating business (and I'm not criticizing your opinion), there are many Americans who believe the feds should be doing more instead.
why does everyone think that just because you voted for Obama that he will change things overnight? Realistically, we didn't get in this situation overnight, so why would one think that? I believe Obama will be setting up the ground work, as any good president should do during this time. I would have expected the same from McCain. McCain and Palin were the ones saying they would balance the budget in one term. That is ridiculous--just the thought of it. This is just a start. A good one!
divinewords: I couldn't agree w/U more; that was my point. I work for the DoD & get much grief over my choice 2 vote Obama. Actually change can and does occur very quickly at time. If a body of people who have learned to expect only the worst, suddenly are inspired to have optimism, a change in attitude of an entire nation can move people to action and involvement. There is no problem right now that an optimistic and energetic population could not overcome. Sure people will have a bit different lifestyles, but the old ones were self destructive anyway.
