You certainly must realize that there are at least twice as many non-Muslims in the world as there are Muslims. A lot of non-Muslims don't care whether you agree with them or not. You won't go to hell for not agreeing with a non-Muslim, so there's no reason for pining for redemption. I can only speak for myself, but believe me, I'm much happier now than I ever was when I believed in God. And, besides, alcohol is tasty in moderation.

I don't know whether you are a theist, but I think that in the long term ideologies flit and fly between their peaceful and violent sides depending on social and environmental pressures. It makes bad people do good things but equally good people do bad ones. This cycle can only be broken if the ideologies, especially their texts, are studied, undermined and rejected.

You certainly must realize that there are at least twice as many non-Muslims in the world as there are Muslims. A lot of non-Muslims don't care whether you agree with them or not. You won't go to hell for not agreeing with a non-Muslim, so there's no reason for pining for redemption. I can only speak for myself, but believe me, I'm much happier now than I ever was when I believed in God. And, besides, alcohol is tasty in moderation.

jailstop: How about the Bahai - its a later religion which shares the concept of a single god which sends prophets with islam. It even considers Muhammad a prophet. However, it also brings along very peaceful teachings including tollerance, equality of rights for women and the freedom of religious choice.
Also quite ok (but slightly different) are buddhism (more spiritual) or the chritian belief (the jesus-part) as it is today.

Here's a good lesson that everything should realize (it's pretty obvious). Any teaching that claims to be spiritual guidance, yet requires blind faith is bullshit.. Anything that claims to be spiritual guidance, and doesn't encourage one to explore all knowledge and nurture their curiosity, will do more damage to the spirit than good.
Most modern religions attempt to limit ones curiosity. Because they are about control, not enlightenment of the spirit.

I am an exMuslim and feel very comfortable.
I have used my rational mind and the advances in science to understand that Islam is the creation of man.I have no guilt and would defend the right of Muslims to practice their Religion in peace.I was born a Muslim but never really thought about my belief very hard, but in the back of my mind I had this constant guilt that I should start praying and become a good Muslim. This is God's challenge, make one Surah of Quran and use help from the whole world, result will be failure as no one can imitate God's words.

This is so GOOD. Most muslims go through the motions, the pagan rituals, mindless chanting in Arabic to MECCA (mecca? LOL), dance around the kaaba, kiss the black rock. Islam treats woman as 2nd class or with misogyny and murder, under the banner of HONOR.... not to mention sex with Children is OK.

as for rejecting islam and the so called abuse you state, being a ex muslim did you not read clearly written in the Qur'an Surah 2 verse 256, "There is no compulsion in religion." meaning that wether you join islam or any other faith and then choose another etc etc there is no compulsion but the ethics that your trying to portray of the Quran are wrong. eg you send your son 2 the local shop to buy medicine 2 heal himself and he chooses after ful well knowing that he needs it for his own benefit

There's no feeling or sensation. This is a historical fact. Christianity and Islam came from Judaism. They are built on Judaism. Without Judaism are nothing.
